  1. Ok is it me or does it look like Spiderman?? It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  2. Guys I will be attending my BPA (British Parachute Assn) Pre Advanced Instructors course in August. I am preparing a lecture on incident procedures which will contain video of incidents. I have some footage of UK incidents, but would rather use stuff that doesn't feature British jumper in case I upset people who now/knew those involved. Does anyone have any footage that I could use. I can assure you that the material will be treated with care and respect. Please feel free to email me personally. Thanks in advance Buzz. 4. I have driven acros the Magic Roundabout many times, although it looks a nightmare to cross it is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Swindon was the home of Isambard Kingdom Brunell, so it seems quite fitting that it now homes a well designed roundabout. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

    1000

Finally managed to notch up my 1000th jump on Saturday. Tomorrow will be the 10th aniversary of my very first jump. And only 2 more till I make 12 hours freefall. Is there anythin else I can get the beers in for?? Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  6. Initially I had the button mounted inside the front of my FTP, with the switch sticking through the hole for the front L Bracket. (Edited to add pic) I found that on the ride to alt the swelling of the thermo fit pads would cause it to short. I have settled with leaving the switch inside and operating the camera itself. With the PC8 top mounted its very easy to get to especially under canopy, with my hands in the toggles. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  7. At RAPA we have orange twinzippers for students, and black for instructors. I find it is a very good all round suit and use it for dispatching, ff, fs and demo's. Its not as good for fs as a a proper ffs suit(no grips or booties) but is fine for early warp stuff. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  8. Helmut was jumping at RAPA today, Pinky his test jumper has been testing units (both 1 and 2) for the last few weeks. Cypress 2 will cost E90 more than Cypres 1. Helmut left a couple of user manbooks for Cyp2 at the DZ but I only had a quick look. The control unit is more rounded but smaller than the original. I had a quick look for info on the bty's but couldnt find any. Ill have a good look tomorow and post what I find. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  9. I have blocks on both my rigs. I demo'd a canopy in Elsinore in Nov 01 which was fitted with loops. In a high stress moment I neglected to remove my fingers from the loops. This caused me to front riser into the ground. The result, as can be seen in my avatar was a dislocated ankle, broken fibula, 3 operations, 8 inches of titanium, 12 screws and 5 months on the ground. I wont be using anything but blocks from now on. FWI of the 3 best swoopers on my DZ 2 use loops. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  10. Airtec, have produced a book called Birdman, which records the history of the first birdman. I have a copy on my desk given to me by Helmut himself when I toured the factory. Ill see if it has an ISBN if your interested. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  11. Mine is to remind me of what happens when you think your better than you really are. A painfull lesson, but one I will never forget. Buzz
  12. Anyone can carry out a parachute jump into Stonehenge. All you need to do is ask. And have a notam (you may also need to be a BPA registered demo jumper, but ill have to check that out.) And have the landowners permision, which only requires filling out one simple form. However you can only gain entry to the stones outside of normal opening hours, so summer is about the best time to do it. If I can offer any more assistance please let me know. The attached pic shows a much more select demo arena. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  13. All the staff rigs at RAPA are Sabres ranging from 135 to 170, with one Sabre 2. I jump a Sabre 170 loaded at 1.3, and have put about 300 jumps on it from new. Mostly I get good openings, unless I forget to pull the slider right out from the nose when I pack it. I would say I have had half a dozen hard openings, but when it slams, it slams. I try not to use it when flying camera, I much prefer my Jonathan 150 loaded at 1.5. Lovely openeings every time, especially since I got it relined by Brian. If you are getting slammed regularly try pulling the slider right out when packing. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  14. The C8 is also a bottom loader, but I dont eject the tape that often for the strobofrme to be a problem. The ability to fit and remove the camera quickly more than compensates. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  15. Here are some caps of my set up which is similar to what you want to do. I have a PC8 and EOS 500 top mounted, the PC8 using a Stroboframe and the EOS using a thumbscrew. I have a Kenko .42 on the PC 8, and a 28mm on the EOS. I zoom the PC8 in slightly to remove the vignetting, and the 28mm is pretty close to this. The EOS is operated by bite switch, and the PC8 has a Cameye 2. I have the Cameye switch inside the FTP and operate the camera directly, I am very happy with this set up as all I need is to see that the camera is switched on. I don't have any problems with the C of G of the helmet, and find I hardly notice the weight. One thing I did find a shock was the fit of the FTP. I followed the baking instructions to the letter, and the helmet was comfortably tight. The first time I jumped the helmet i took it off at 1000 ft, and found that at 13k I could hardly get it on (the pads expand as you climb). I now keep the helmet on all the way and boy does is it uncomfortable. I am assured by another FTP owner that the liners break in eventually, and I have noticed that it is getting more comfy with each jump. I hope this info and the pics help. Blue ones. Buzz Ive also attached pics of the quick release and new bone release cover. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  16. Here's my TSE Teardrop SF Jonathan 150 Tempo 170 Cypres Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  17. Yep there is two of them, the original which was built for the Brit 100 (I believe) and which Tim Porter currently jumps. The second, which is the one in the picture that was posted above, belongs to and is being warn in the pic by my best mate Tony Goodman. Ill see if I can find a pic of the Tartan rig, it was quiet sweet, even if I say so myself. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  18. Im sorry to say that she is one of the few good looking female soldiers in the British Army. Most of the real hoofers seem to go to the Royal Artillery. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  19. Sorry to steal your thunder, but that particular Union Flag container (it's only a Union Jack when it is flown from the Jack Staff on a sea going vessel), was custom made for a chap called Tony Goodman. Tony is the Team Leader of the Royal Artillery Parachute Display Team http:/www.skydivegunners.co.uk, and also has a Union Flag Stilleto 120 inside it. This is the second such container TSE have made, they also built a Tartan one which was displayed at the BPA AGM. The rig can currently be seen at Perris where the Team are conducting their annual training camp. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  20. The Royal Artillery Parachute Display Team (The Black Knights), carry out a display into Armoury House the home of the Honourable Artillery Company. Artillery House is located right in the centre of the City of London. They carry out the display in "Tuxedo's", and are met by several gorgeous women with bottles of Champagne. Oh and its done at 11pm, it doesn't get more Bond than that. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  21. I just got pissed with all the bleeding hearts. I was there in 91, some very good friends of mine (jumpers) are out there now, may they keep safe. They say War solves nothing. Tell that to the millions of peoiple who died during WW1 and WW2, so that we can enjoy the freedom and quality of life we do in Europe today. Tell that to the Jews who would possibly not exist if we hadn't acted to stop Hitler. All I hope is that we will get some of those Tomahawks to sort out our own terrorist problem in Ulster. But hey the IRA have only murdered a few hundred innocent people. Blue Skies Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

  24. An Englishman, Frenchman, blonde babe, and elderly woman are traveling on a train together. The train goes through a tunnel, and as the carriage goes dark a kissing sound is heard, along with a woman's squeal and a slapping sound. As the train leaves the tunnel the Frenchman is seen with a bright red hand print on his face. The Blonde thinks "That horrible Frenchman must have tried to kiss that poor woman thinking it was me, and she slapped his face. Serves him right." The elderly woman thinks "That horrible Frenchman must have tried to kiss that poor young woman and she slapped his face. Serves him right." The Englishman thinks " I cant wait till we go through another tunnel, so I can make another kissing sound and slap that French twat again" Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  25. I got to see the holder at the BPA AGM. It is a seriously sweet piece of kit. It is very low profile and well executed. Tony Silman is the guy who makes them was keen to show us how to set it up correctly for minimum snag points. It can be set up so that the ring sight itself is the only nag point, and that is designed to snap if you get hung on it. Ill be getting on myself pretty soon.
