  1. Anyone have any pictures and or advice on how to mount an Alititrack on a lookma wedge? It just seems a bit large on the wedge. I currently have mine mounted with the cable wrapped around somewhat securing it but it's still not as completely clean or secure as I would want it to be. Advice? 2. adding to DaVinciflies links for packing....more for closing the container though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA6SVDuO2xg&feature=channel_video_title For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  3. I really want to order a new PF tracking suit but just have a feeling that a newer model will be coming out relatively soon by any chance? Any thoughts? This is just by my own assumption since their initial release date was 2004 and the 2nd version came out in 2007 so since its the end of 2011 and almost 2012 time for an update if possible? Not sure how they could improve upon the TS though. For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

  5. The only way to show which one would be better would be to mount a GoPro2 and the new drift or contour side by side and have them recording on the same jump.....analyze the image quality and judge for yourself...... Here is hypoxic's comparison from the older versions....I still would believe that the GoPro2 would be better though than the newer competition....of course can never compare to a full size camcorder like sony http://www.gethypoxic.com/reviews-tests-hacks/tests.html For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  6. For fun jumps sure, but for tandems I'd say no....you do realize that its essentially the same as taking a cell phone and snapping photos while in the air.....the sensor, regardless of MP, is still tiny and can NEVER in the near future replace DSLR's. Remember people it's not about the MP, but its about the sensors ability to shoot in lower light. Sure it weighs a ton less, but the quality just isn't quite there yet. Would you really want to sacrifice THAT much quality & detail for a few pounds? Personally for me its quality over quantity any day, but then again that's just me. 7. Depending upon the rig and the location of the color you would want changed. Manufactures would do it depending on locations some of course are a simple switch and some require much more time and sewing+rigging. A very experienced jumper 8,000+ jumps that I know of replaces a part of his rig every couple years since he has a neon color which tend to fade rather quickly (aka 1-3 yrs depending how much it is jumped) after which time the rig looks brand new! @ likestojump That is a spectacular change! Looks like a brand new rig compared to the original For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  8. Awesome, never even knew that chuting star would build your camera helmet for you! Great to know as I'm planning on ordering a camera helmet from chutingstar in the near future and really just don't want to make mistakes drilling and such. 9. I have just now begin to touch upon swooping with my Sabre2 WL @ 1.2. I've done a handful of 90 degree turns but I can definitely feel when I have a more powerful smoother 90 turn and ones that are not quite as smooth or powerful. Definitely still working on consistency and smoothness with the 90's and probably will be for a while. But those are just my 2 cents of when I began swooping. I probably will plan on staying on a sabre2 for the next 300 ish jumps and then consider where I am and get a katana since I've got the lightweight problem. lol For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  10. More suitable for wing suits from what I've heard but if I was newer and poorer jumper it definitely wouldn't bother me if I bought one or jumped one. I own a sabreII now though and love it For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  11. For me personally I loathe writing and even when I do attempt to its barely legible anyhow. I have therefore chosen the Iphone app logbook which you still can get signatures as well. This way its much more accurate, easy to read, allows you to see the exact amount of FF time combined or from a certain jump. This way its quicker to log by typing and more precise! Just be sure to back up the data and have a duplicate For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  12. In reference to how it compares to a contour Video comparison http://gizmodo.com/5852612/gopro-hero-2-lightning-review-best-sports-cam-ever Or below copied and paste without link to the video comparison Video shot with the HD Hero looked good. This looks way better. They put a fancy new sensor in there and it really delivers. Colors were way more vibrant and realistic, details were sharper, and brightness and contrast are much more balanced. The older Hero had a tendency to be washed out and blown out; that doesn't happen anymore (see first water shots in the video). You can also now get a full 170 degree field of view while shooting 1080p, and it has more options for frame-rates and sizes. It can shoot stills at 11 megapixels vs 5 megapixels on the Hero 1, and it can process images much faster, meaning you can take a time-lapse with one shot every half-second, or you can shoot 10-shot-per-second bursts. The Hero's UI has been refined, making it much easier to set up. It's actual words on the little screen now, not incomprehensible abbreviations. There are now 4 LEDs that blink while you're recording, so you know you're rolling no matter which way it's facing. The Hero 2 has added a mini HDMI out and some built-in Wi-Fi awesomeness. GoPro's upcoming Wi-Fi BacPac will allow for remote control and realtime streaming from the Hero 2, which is pretty sweet. Lastly, the Hero 2 is the exact same size/shape/configuration as the Hero 1, meaning all of your Hero 1 accessories will fit just fine, including the LCD BacPac which allows you to line up your shots and play them back. And yes, it still comes with its housing that makes it waterproof to 180 feet. No Like The Hero 2 performs poorly in nighttime settings, as you can see in the night-biking shots at the end of the comparison video. Yes, it makes the images brighter than the Contour ROAM it was next to, but it brings in a ton of noise and graininess to do it. Also, while the UI is extremely improved over its last iteration, that's not saying a ton. Navigating through the settings is still a slow, unwieldy process. Also, the buttons can be stiff, which sometimes makes turning it on/off tougher. Oww my ears! At the default setting the Hero 2 is super loud. I had to turn it down 4-7db in the video because it was peaking like crazy. There's a setting for wind-reduction which I haven't messed with yet, but it seems to me that the default should have a bit less gain. Also, while it's great that there's a mounting system for virtually every application you can think of, it's worth noting that setting these up is not always easy and intuitive. To mount it to my handle bars I would have had to put a strange 90-degree extender on it that would have made it extremely unstable. Instead I opted to hang it upside down from a bar-end, which wasn't ideal. Full size Should I Buy It? Bottom line: this thing is killer. While I still want to do some more testing to be sure, if I had to pick one from all the sports cams currently on the market, I'd grab this one. The images it takes are great. It's not just HD-sized, it actually looks HD. I like the Contour ROAM a lot, but the Hero 2 has more options and the image quality simply wins. I really didn't like how the Hero 2 looked on my night-ride, but you're more likely to using it during daylight hours, anyway. I expect to see a lot these nestled under "Holiday Flora" come December (how's that for non-denominational?). You can get the Surf Edition, Outdoor Edition, or Motorsports Edition, all of which are available now for $299. [GoPro] Notes on the Comparison Video: -There are great waves and great surfers in Hawaii, and there are great trails and great mountain bikers in Colorado. I'm a blogger and I live in Brooklyn. Working with what I've got here. -This video is compressed somewhat, but if you watch it at 1080p it'll give you a pretty good idea of how they compare. -In the biking shots with the ROAM you'll notice that the vibration makes the screen look almost liquid, where as the Heroes managed it pretty well. It's possible that this is because of the way the ROAM was mounted (a special rubber strap), or maybe the Heros just absorb shock better. -I haven't yet received my surf kit for the ROAM so I had to leave it out of the water test. -The night shots were filmed on two separate nights. The ROAM had the disadvantage of it being slightly rainy, but for my money it still looks better. The Hero 2 may be brighter, but the image looks terrible. UPDATE: If you want to see what the Hero 2 is really capable of, here is GoPro's official promo video. Not surprisingly, it is much, much cooler than mine For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  13. One reason why I would want it repacked would be simply just to verify that the reserve is indeed what the seller claimed it to be so that later on down the line if it isn't then it wouldn't be too late For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  14. As I stated on the video "Are you guys fucking kidding me?! Such amazing routines and flying! HOLY SHIT still can't lift my jaw up." Seriously some unique and well thought out ideas & tons of planning applied. Props to you guys as always for pushing this sport forward and thinking outside the box for things that have never been accomplished before! All this creativity is truly inspiring! 15. You should only worry if you have newer nicer gear! JK All joking aside, I find that having a box to put all your gear in is best in terms of NOT losing any gear/valuables and if you want to even stay on the safer side of caution buy a pad lock. Perhaps also have a line lock and tie it down to something bolted down so that your box can not be moved. Have fun at the boogie! 16. New Orange lines "Yields a longer line life than HMA line previously used as the default line on this product, 2) Is smaller in size/diameter than comparable sized HMA, 3) Is more resistant to abrasion and maintains its strength better than comparable sized HMA" (PD). Any details as to why & how they are able to last longer and are thinner(less drag?) at the same time? Also could these lines be applied to other canopies such as the Katana or do they only go with the Competition Velocity? 17. A couple of BASE jumpers took Bill Booth up on his offer to demo the skyhook cutaway at a low altitude for spectators to watch. Both cutaway from approximately 300-350 feet and still hand enough time to flare(reserve packed slider down mind you)! Now that's trusting! Check it out on YouTube somewhere....I think I remember Bill Booth talking about it at PIA 2007 For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

  19. I'm not sure whether or not the 500 denier condura vs the 1000 denier condura material is that big of a difference unless you are constantly dragging your rig across dirt and grime daily aka like dragging your rig to the dropzone from where your car is parked rather than simply carrying it. 20. Reseach some of the previous many threads discussed about new rigs and canopy size and jump number as you will find a plethora of information there. I'm no expert but somewhat knowledgable about gear and love my V3 but thats just me and my opinion. In regards to a canopy you DON'T HAVE to downsize canopies, many people choose to stay on their original canopies and never downsize bit it's just what you want/prefer. G'luck finding the appropriate gear for you have fun and be safe! For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  21. Are you referring to UPT's cut-out corners? A downside might be you may get used to opening up in a track more often and having no issues until you borrow a different rig without one For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

  23. What are the pro's and con's of this newly released helmet? Personally the top plate looks a bit smaller with not enough room to expand other items or larger camera's. any comments?
