  6. Pulled at 1,900ft on a balloon jump was opened at 1,540 deliberately pulled at that altitude and packed/rolled the nose less to have it open faster. For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  7. Many thanks to everyone's opinion and explanation. I do try and get on every tracking dive I can possibly get on to further develop my skills.....or lack thereof Great seeing ya again at Carolina Fest Simon, hopefully see ya again at Summerfest! Also, I hope to try and get around to your DZ FCipollo and potentially get on some loads with you! Lastly, so if all this is merely considered to be in "American English" "steep tracking" what would you call tracking in 2 groups that go from side to side above and below each group with 1 leader each? Would everyone agree to call it tracing? This past weekend I was on a tracking dive that turned way steep way too quick(assuming the leader was going to begin slow and flat but nope!), didn't quite learn so much but did get a chance to see what getting some real distance was! 8. I tried a pari of sorz googles and never went back to them after 2 jumps since my face seems rather small and it didn't conform to my face properly enough to seal the air out. First time I jumped with them I lost a contact in the left eye. 2nd Jump with them I figured they were a bit loose, tightened them up still ended up losing another contact after replacing it Since them I have always used my fullface and haven't quite tried out an openface helmet I have managed to jump from a heli with a pair of Oakley's which seemed to work OK with my face but wasn't perfect. I'm -5.5 so losing a contact is kind of a big deal For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  9. Roughly around 500ft....It's rather hard to get around the thought that it opens relatively quick, however, it still opens very soft and smoothly. Never had any hard openings whatsoever. I had 150 jumps on my last canopy which was a Pulse. 12. Most I've ever done in one day is 9 jumps at a boogie and I had a packer! No way currently I could do 9 in one day while packing for myself..... For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  13. Probably not, as its not so much about reaching the toggles immediately unless you are using it for BASE, but more about stability and adding another tool for your skydive which adds a bit more complexity to your skydive. 16. Anyone have any advice as to how to progress to this style? I've heard multiple answers some saying you must be rather proficient in Head Down to be able to maintain this type of flying while others have stated that they advanced within this type of flying prior to being proficient in Head Down. Secondly...how come it seems as if this type of flying style has yet to be adopted/become a larger discipline within the United States compared to Europe? Not many people that I have met seem to be interested within this style....at least at the DZ's that I've been to(East Coast). Lastly....what are some key tips for body position for Angle flight/Atmonauti(knees dropped with butt up)? Tips on getting into formation when its a little further out? Many thanks ! 17. It's not only meant for swooping, but could also be utilized by the fact that it takes less time in the sky to remove and shove in your shirt than in would be to collapse and pull down your slider and keep it tucked down with a magnet or ball. Less time dealing with slider = more time being able to deal with potential traffic in the general vicinity
  18. Is he bi-polar or something? He needs to either get on or off the meds! Alas, I can not even to begin to feel your pain after all the patience you've shown. Perhaps the solution is to simply and politely decline his business? It would seem to be rather cost ineffective to work with this individual customer who cannot make up his damn mind! 20. I have been loosening my chest strap and advising others to do so for about 20 years, since my first Sabre. I always have 12 to 16 inches added to the strap when ordering a new rig and even had one replaced to get it longer. I loosen it all the way to the stop (fold). I also usually do a handle check after wards. I know where my handles are after loosening just as well as I do before. And always lock eyes on them as well. It's important to note that if you do not bring the slider all the way down behind your head or remove it then the benefits of spreading the chest strap are negligible for reasons already stated. As some have already stated, spreading the chest strap dramatically reduces the anhedral shape. Which simply means when looking directly at the front of a canopy the wing tips are pulled down below the center cells after opening. Because of this, the lift on the outer cells is pulling at an angle to the outsides. The more you reduce the arc from wing tip to wing tip the flatter the wing becomes. This allows a more effecient wing surface which causes the lift to pull more directly up over head. All this provides the following as mentioned by others: * Improved overall lift * Improved glide * Improved stability (especially in turbulence) * Lower stall speed * Improved flare All of this is a basic understanding of aerodynamic flight and can be readily researched anywhere. It is my understanding that all of those with PD will essentially tell you the same thing. And that most average jumpers will see noticeable improvement in canopy flight, even those will larger wings and lower wing loadings. When I talk to newer jumpers I tell them to listen to everyone, but to always question a person's answers. Sort of like making them defend a thesis. Ask them how they have come to their conclusions. It won't take long for an intelligent person to figure out if the answers are just being regurgitated from what they've heard or if they have actually thought out their position. It's also important to note that many older jumpers are set in their ways and will often tell you that someone elses ideas are "BS". Again it doesn't take long to figure out who those people are. If people will take the time to invest a few jumps dedicated solely to canopy flight they will soon learn for themselves whether this chest strap stuff is a myth or not. I've done the research, I've made the jumps and I know for a fact that it is not a myth. Taken from a previous post that I would agree to and makes complete sense.
