  1. How often do people pick up rigs that don't belong to them and jump them without a pin check at your dropzone? However, I do agree it would make me nervous seeing someone walk around the DZ with some frankenstein bastardized rig pulling dirty socks or bologna sandwiches out of it. Get a new back pack... +1 For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  2. I followed you up to that point. Did your autocorrect change 'phosphate'? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  3. Police have the power to detain and arrest. You and I do not. They have the authority to lean into a car to attempt to remove the keys of someone who is attempting to leave (not a good idea, but they can do it). Police 'initiate struggles' when perpetrators resist arrest. A key part of the trial might be determining if the cop was angry, or fearful the driver was about to cause imminent bodily harm to him. I don't see anything in the video that indicates the cop was shooting out of anger. Stupid mistake that ended a life. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  4. Being in Danger is a perceived state. Hanging from a 182 strut while wearing a functioning rig does not seem dangerous to most of us, but it does to whuffos. The prosecutor Joe Deters has indicated the cop was angry and or annoyed at the driver so he just murdered him. I've watched the body cam video several times. I wasn't there, but what I speculate happened is the cop perceived he was in danger when he was leaning into a car that attempting to drive away. It wasn't the brightest idea to lean into the car, but it appears to me he considers himself in danger and draws his weapon. Further speculation on my part is he didn't intend to shoot the dude. He just didn't have good trigger control and the movement of the car and/or struggle with the occupant caused him to squeeze off a round. I live in Cincinnati. I think a lot of this has been orchestrated to avoid having another race riot like we did in 2001. I am willing to bet a jump ticket there will be unrest when this comes to trial in a couple years. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  5. Wondering where you got the 9 million number. Googling the US census stats I get: Are you suggesting only 21% of blacks are offended by the flag, or am I missing something? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  6. Dang - your reply and mine crossed in the interwebs. It made me rethink my position. You are probably correct. In addition to the deployment altitude being too low, a military jump would probably be disqualified via: So unless the jumpmaster is a USPA instructor, the jump wouldn't count For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  7. The IAD program clearly allows for static line jumps to count towards licensing and the only thing I found in the SIM about student canopies is: 4.E.5. Canopies used for students should be large, docile, and appropriate for the student’s weight. There is nothing in the SIM that indicates static line round canopy jumps should not count towards licenses. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  8. This is a tough one. You probably shouldn't jump if you don't feel you are mentally prepared for it. Would you have the same fear if you just repeated an earlier jump like the cat 'B' jump? If not, try that. If you are afraid of doing an easier jump you have already accomplished, don't jump. My opinion is worthless by the way. Talk to your AFF instructor(s) and any mentors around your DZ. They know you better than an internet stranger For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  9. Hands down the best movie ever made. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  10. I kind of wonder about that myself. I have a CCW permit, but never carry. Everyone/everything becomes a threat. Carrying makes me feel extremely paranoid - so I don't. Sitflying a Dolphin container with an Argus AAD is much more likely to cause a problem for me than someone else with a gun. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  11. This thread has drifted farther than the Skipper, Gilligan, Thurston, Lovey, Ginger, and the rest.
  12. The only mistake I have made in this thread about US History was incorrectly identifying when Hawaii became a state. I was off by one year and JerryBaumchen corrected me without sounding like a dick. I would say "Yes" to a degree. Certainly to the person(s) who were singled out. "Maybe" to the children depending on the affect it had. "No" to the grandchildren. Just my opinion - yours may vary. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  13. My planet also. In 2015, the Earth will reach its Aphelion at 19:41 (7:41 pm) UTC on July 6, 2015. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  14. I know I'm setting up a straw man argument, but humor me. If it is morally correct to treat descendants of one group of people differently because great-great-grandpa government was abusive to them, where do you draw the line? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  15. Are we really doing Native Hawaiian's a service by treating them differently now? I am all for helping people who need it. It is one of the few useful services of government (the other main one being protection). As far as 'blowing off treaties' with Native American Tribes- I personally am against any preferential treatment based on where your grandparents were born. So, yes I believe the treaties have outlived their usefulness. Just my humble opinion. I don't care enough to write my congressman. Just curious, what is your opinion of slave reparation? Morally it isn't any different than preferential treatment of Native Born Americans and Hawaiians. Legally, since there isn't a 100+ year old treaty, African Americans who are descendants of slaves do not receive preferential treatment. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  16. So what is up with this? No other state in the union has benefits only available to people who can prove at least 50% of their ancestors were born in that state. The benefit is based on the 1921 Federal law signed by Harding providing for the rehabilitation of the native Hawaiian people through a government sponsored homesteading program. Hawaii has been a state since 1958. Shouldn't they be assimilated by now? It seems contrary to the American way to give preferential treatment because of where someone's grandparents were born. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  17. Loose 3 way flock - meh CReW into downplane with a flag - no mention in the video Just goes to show you people dig wingsuiters and think CReW people are weird. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  18. I say what is in my signature line For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  19. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news based on the horribly dated and inaccurate (yet government approved) BMI , but you are obese. Your BMI is 32.8, which puts you square in the class I obesity classification of 30 to 35 I know - the BMI doesn't differentiate between fat and muscle Hell - I am 5'10" and 174 lbs which puts me in the overweight classification For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  20. Start Skydiving in Middletown OH runs 10-20 loads a day weekdays (If there are enough tandems they run both Caravans). Also, that time of year you might want to look for a 4th of July event. Many dropzones will be doing something special if you have an interest in a balloon or helicopter jump (may not apply to you if you are a low wingsuit number jumper). For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  21. 2nd one. I like how the plane comes out of the circle. It makes the logo look less 2 dimensional For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  22. I agree, since the season varies greatly depending how far north you are. Block purchases are much more common. Again, I agree. You probably want to spend more time at the DZ's with Caravans and larger planes, but don't ignore the 182 crowd entirely. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  23. You may also want to consider asking if a dropzone has specials for block purchases. At my DZ, on Safety Day you could buy as many $18 jumps as you want. The money on account does not expire (but the $18 rate returns to the normal jump rate at the end of the year). So if you break your leg, your money stays on account for next year. For $7500, you would get 416 jumps. That would equate to 37 jumps a month for the timeframe at spaceland. If all you did was jump all day, every day, the unlimited jumps would be the best bet, but my old body (and the fact I have a job) wouldn't accomodate that. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  24. Cumdrops on noses, and whiskerless kittens . . . White creamy discharge, from where I was bitten . . . Joyful release that a good blow job brings . . . For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  25. There is no "ensure" in skydiving. It is just accepting/rejecting additional risks. I have less than 500 jumps, and would not intentionally land off dz to chase fabric. Your experience/mileage may vary. When I had a couple hundred jumps, I was given a little grief because I saw a freebag floating down to the middle of the DZ and didn't follow it down. It was a big load and I immediately flew away from the freebag to avoid it and anybody else trying to follow it down. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
