  1. Could some moderator put this thread out of it's misery? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  2. My first IT Job was at a Skilled Nursing Facility/Retirement Home. In that environment, an emergency was "a life threatening event", so emergencies did not exist in IT. In all my corporate gigs since, emergencies have been defined as mail servers going down, EDI Servers not responding to pings, blah, blah, blah. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  3. First of all, thank you for your service. I support praising businesses that give discounts to veterans. I am a little hesitant to bad mouth a business that does not give veterans discounts. Not that I really have a dog in this fight, but Home Depot does have a history of supporting veterans: https://corporate.homedepot.com/CorporateResponsibility/Partnerships/Pages/TheMilitary.aspx For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  4. I made a command button that works: For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  5. Can't go wrong with Quickbooks. It is excellent. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  6. He did complicate the system. If you read his post: I think most people would consider putting something over your goggles a distraction. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  7. Your example does not work. If you give $1000.00 to a charitable organization, you reduce your gross by that amount, which reduces your tax liability by $380.00 (assuming you are in 38% tax bracket). Your wife increases her salary by $1000. After 15.2% in taxes (Med & Soc), her gross is increased by $848. Assuming she has to pay 38% on her increased gross, her take home pay is increased by $576.64. Add that to the decrease in tax ($380.00) you get $956.64. You spent $1000.00, so your net loss is $43.36. It isn't as simple as you make it to avoid taxes. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  8. Depends on the state, but they are generally enforceable. Some states they are practically unenforceable (like California) For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  9. I guess we just have to wait and see how this plays out. You correctly point out there are a lot a questions the DPRE could answer to defend his professionalism, but think also of the DZO. He is probably not going to answer any of these questions either . I would imagine he would want to stop speculation about people packing rental gear with knotted suspension lines, but he can't while litigation is going on. Chances are, there will be a NDA and we will never know the whole story. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  10. WTF? How many people work at your company that would post to DZ.COM? Do you really think you are that hard to find? I am in charge of IT at my company and I can guarantee you that not filling in your profile does jack shit to making you more anonymous when it comes to using a company computer for personal use. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  11. Not sure of your intent, but the DPRE seems to have earned the respect of some reputable people who post on DZ.COM. I have never met him, nor know anything about him. Calling him an idiot several times will not make him want to respond. I couldn't care less, but what dog do you have in this fight? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  12. I am not a lawyer, but I suspect the last thing he is going to do is log onto a public forum to discuss a case in litigation just to appease a thirst for knowledge from a stranger. If I had to guess, this will be settled out of court with signed nondisclosure agreements and we will never know any more than what we currently know. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  13. I agree the report is uncredible due to the lack of detail. The examiner found "at least two broken suspension lines". That is ridiculously vague. Given the limited number of suspension lines, he should have been able to indicate exactly how many were broken. It raises more questions than it answers. It is very damning and I hope some other report exists, or the rig with the suspension lines in the condition of the incident still exist. Otherwise, the DZ is in trouble. Just my opinion. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  14. And they will probably make it only valid if you have never been denied a 3rd class before. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  15. hey - was I the one who was supposedly spanked? - I am totally out of the loop on this one. I think it is a reasonable demand that the 'spankee' should at least received the benefit of actually being spanked. oops - just discovered there was another 'Mike' who got spanked. I guess I'll just wait in line for my turn. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  16. I annoy my family for hours with a uke. A great resource for TABS is http://www.ukulele-tabs.com/ For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  17. So? You pay to go to an IDC to become a SCUBA instructor. You pay for a Tandem Course and AFF-I course to become skydiving instructors. Pilots pay to become CFII I don't understand your point. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  18. I've seen you at some midwest boogies, and I can understand you not wanting to 'out' the lousy DZ, but where is your fun DZ? For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  19. Tried to click on a video called 57 Ugly and got the following: A fatal error has occured: Can't call method "File_Size" on an undefined value at (eval 2711) line 6. Please enable debugging in setup for more details. OK The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. 20. That might be a better answer. Have the person go after the person who sold the stolen gear to him to return his money and keep working back to the sleazy DZO. Again, lawyer types can respond, but i believe not knowing it is stolen does not absolve you of criminal liability if you sell it to someone. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  21. There are several lawyer types who could answer better than I, but the risk in buying used gear off the internet is if it discovered to be stolen, you must return it no matter how many times it has been sold before it got to you. I have purchased a lot of gear from DZ.com and I never checked the stolen database. I will in the future. If it were me who bought the stolen gear, and knowing Karma is a bitch, I would try to negotiate a settlement with the rightful owner. Maybe around 50% of what I paid, but technically (not morally) I should be out 100% and have to return the stolen merchandise. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  22. I agree with Wendy. I haven't heard of a situation in the United States in the last 100 years where civilization totally broke down. To me, that would be SHTF. Bad people looting is reason enough to suggest having a weapon in your house and being trained to use it. It does not indicate you should have a year's supply of dehydrated food. A gun, a bathtub full of water , and the leftover food you have in kitchen cupboards will keep you alive for a month. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
  23. Please tell me you don't believe in an infinite universe? In such a scenario, Skymama would have married Shah in an infinite number of worlds and infinite number of times. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.
