Mark started jumping in Grand Bend a few years ago. He was always laughing and joking with everyone, and always eager to learn. I feel for you. I've been there a couple of times and it's not fun. From your description if he is not in pain and if you are OK with helping out in the duties department then show him the love that he has shown you for 15 years. I don't think carving around a formation is a good idea, especially if there are other people approcaching thier slots. As with RW if you have a position in the formation then you must stay in your quadrand, match fall rate and level then take your dock. By carving around you are putting yourself and others in danger. The canopy I had before my Sam was a Sabre 150. I got my Sam around jump number 400 and have put at least 450 jumps on it since. I am 200 lb. out the dooor which makes aprox. wing loding 1.5. I have never had my canopy spin up on opening due to body position. Have even had a toggle come out on opening and it didn't spin up, just went into a hard turn til I popped the other toggle. It is a different beast ( than a Turbo Z ) but I took it slow and learned the limits of my canopy and my comfort level when and how I fly it. And yes I have taken Brian's course and think more emphasis should be placed on canopy control. I don't know his wieght and and potential wing loading ( if he was 240 out the door, no I would not let him try my canopy) but from the number of jumps he has going from a 165 to a 136 elliptical is not that radical. ( OK canopy Nazis scream hear) Just my opinion from my experience. I would not reccommend going from a 165 to a 105 elliptical. Even if he only wieghs 150 lb. out the door. I think if that's the conclusion you have come to then there will be one less membership check going out this year. People that kill themselves skydiving ( unintentionally) have no desire to die doing what they love. They have been properly trained, using the latest technology in gear and have every intention of doing it many more times. But sometimes shit happens. If we followed your line of thinking we wouldn't even take a comercial airline flight to our favourite holiday spot because it's too risty to get on a plane and risk our precious lifes. Srop your crying. It is well publicised at the border that radar detectors are not allowed. The cops up here have these little things called radar detector detectors. Booze is definitely not cheaper here. But the beer is better than that pony piss you guys call beer down there. Molson Dry is one of my favourites and it's 5.5% so watch it.
