    New Rig......

Looks good, what color for the #7 flaps? Tie-dye? The rhino embroidery could be really cool. Maybe on the #3, the reserve pin flap. A red background would show it off more though. blue skies! Heather
  2. Hey guys, I just want to let all you dz.commers know that I'm leaving Sunrise Rigging. My last day will be March 7th. I'm leaving on good terms and I've enjoyed working with so many of you!
  3. note to self: check on Steve's container tomorrow
  4. It seems like people who always pack for themselves have fewer mals than those who pay for packers... (Never seen any stats on this topic though. Might be too hard to prove or disprove)
  5. How much do you need of each material? Are you looking for bulk quantities or just a yard of this, a yard of that...? blue skies, Heather
  6. Sweet jesus. Interesting thread. I'm tempted to start another one!
  7. Email: [email protected] or [email protected] (I answer all the incoming emails to both of those addresses) Website: www.skydivewings.com Tele: 813-788-1910 Fax: 813-788-2799 Thanks for all the comments everyone! blue skies, Heather
  8. Reading this thread gave me flashbacks to my undergrad graduation weekend. I missed my baccalaureate mass because I was at the DZ trying to get one last jump in so I could be signed off student status! (I was moving from PA to FL and it was my last chance to jump up there!) My poor parents. I'm sure they knew I wasn't at the mass. My hair was all windblown, shorts and t-shirt under my graduation gown..."I was there the whole time! In the back row!" I'm such a bad daughter. (If they ever see this online they'll know what happened! I think they had their suspicions anyhow!) So, do the whole ceremony thing, just don't go to the DZ that morning or you'll never make it blue skies, Heather
  9. This post isn't about whether or not night jumps should be required for your D. I'm tired of that discussion. I'm curious about something else... I think everyone would agree that it is safer to have an illuminated landing area during night jumps than to have one that is not lit up. However, I know a few people (a DZO included) who think it is "wussing out" to do your night jumps into a landing area that is illuminated. There were three otter loads of night jumpers this past Saturday at Z-hills. No injuries. There were quite a few less than graceful landings but everyone walked away just fine. Z-hills lights up the landing area rather well. (The beer line is lit on fire a couple of times, a truck with its lights on is pointed at our arrow/flag, the lights from the deck are on, the hangar door is open with its lights on...) What do you think? How well does your DZ light up the landing area for night jumps? Do you think it's wussing out if you don't do your night jumps into a dark landing area? What were your night jumps like? blue skies, Heather PS: No, I haven't done my night jumps yet. I'm a wuss, but I will do them eventually...I actually have a feeling I will enjoy them.
  10. They're definitely not recommended on a Wings either. For reasons that have already been pointed out in this thread. Would anyone care to defend reversed risers by explaining how they are any BETTER than non-reversed? Why do you want them? (and please please do not say aesthetics. Some things in this sport need to not be about aesthetics.) I'm looking for a sound defense here.
  11. Thanks Lisa! If you're looking for faster production times, order during the Summer. You'll probably get your gear faster than you would in the Winter/Spring. Some manufacturer even run special deals during the slow times to help drum up business, so you might even save a little money! (like PD rebates, etc) And I agree with Lisa, plan ahead! Don't think "well, production time is 8 weeks and that boogie is in 8 and a half weeks, so I'll sell my rig next month and I can jump the new one at the boogie!" That's just asking for trouble blue skies, Heather
  12. I agree. I love my small metal reserve handle. Perfect size for my hands, fits perfectly on my XS MLW. I think they are a nice compromise for people who worry about snagging a large metal handle but do not want a pillow reserve handle. blue skies! Heather
  13. Jeeez... The ages of the "girls" were 18, 19, 20 and 23! One or two of them just look pretty young!
  14. We actually have cut-in laterals now, due to popular demand
  15. We're still waiting for your canopy Deuce, but hopefully it'll arrive soon!
  16. It's funny, our "typical" Wings is short and now we have the EXT's for the people who prefer a longer rig.
  17. Metal. Definitely. If you don't have them Brandon let me know and I'll send you two sets. (Laura should have 'em too!)
  18. Just in case anyone was wondering, we use 1000 denier cordura on all our Wings, whether it's a student rig or sport rig. Sure, 500 is less expensive but the 1000 will hold up better. I don't like the look or feel of 500 myself, I'm glad we only use 1000. blue skies, Heather
  19. Teemu has been here at Wings almost every day (along with just about every other Finn on the west coast of Florida!) I think Teemu is twice my height. He's a freakin' giant. I'll tell him you say hi, but what does that other word mean?? (I get tricked into saying dirty Finnish words all the time) blue skies, Heather
  20. Sorry, nope. Just thought I'd post that info for everyone. blue skies, Heather
