  1. I live in Central Texas and it's actually relatively cool this summer so far, I suspect that will be the same in August. At night it really isn't THAT hot (80's). During the day however a tent is going to be a solar oven. If you can do something with yourself during the day I think you'll be just fine especially if you already know what tenting is.
  2. Was the Pilot almost one third of the normal price (as this example suggests) or at such a discount as to be similar to a $30 tv (as another poster suggests)?? If not, I am with the original poster on this one - I would be pretty annoyed if a company that presumably has professional web staff and proactively offers goods for sale over the internet would not honour a price quoted. From a customer service perspective, if they had honoured the price I bet the OP would be a great ambassader for the company for years to come. As it is, I understand his frustration and in his position I would probably also consider taking my custom elsewhere. And telling everyone why and warning them not to trust the site. But it seems the OP and I are in the minority Very bizarre thoughts. Furthermore Aerodyne has an agreement with it's dealers not to undersell any of their products. I would suspect that no dealer would sell a new Pilot for $1300.00 Shit happens and nobody or no entity is perfect. As the proud owner of 2 Pilot canopies all I can say is if you don't buy one you are cutting yourself very short.
  3. See....here we go. Jumping without a rig is quite different than jumping with one....even to the whuffo. However I digress on this topic. Ya'll have fun.
  4. $1000 for a divorce? Consider yourself very lucky.
  5. Back a few years ago I made some comments about this guy and got flamed big time. I still think this kind of "stunt" or whatever it is gives skydiving a bad name in the whuffo's mind. It clearly is stupid to take your rig off in free fall and gives the impression of high risk behavior. No offense to Greg. (I'm pretty sure that's his name) It doesn't matter what it really is what matters is what it looks like. May the flaming begin...lol
  6. Julio will build your woman a bad ass free fly suit....guaranteed.
  7. Actually the audience was involved and that's the whole reason the clip was posted to begin with. The original poster of the video claimed it didn't matter whether she was talking about past or present. The people in the audience were not yet aware she was speaking of the past and I believe rightly so accusing the NAACP of being very racist. His point being the NAACP accused the whole Tea Party of being racist but with no documentation whatsoever but here's documentation of NAACP members clearly being racist. (the audience participation) I mean come on NAACP? In and of itself is racist. As far as Beck goes those that blame him are far from making the right call. He did his investigation before speaking and straight off said she got hosed.
  8. Something else to ponder on the OP's post: San Marcos staff jump at Temple quite often and I've NEVER seen a Temple staff member at SSM. Also if you look at the dropzone reviews there are at least 2 people in Temple that are bashing SSM. Your tandem guy Brandon and his wife or gf or whatever she is. So remind me again, who's getting screwed?
  9. Hey ks1384, I'm digging that BAD ASS avatar you've got there! lmao
  10. I hear a lot of people spreading this type of talk about SDSM, but I've never seen it. I have seen the DZM working his ass off to keep fun jumpers in the air on a busy tandem day. SDSM cranks out a lot of tandems, and I'm sure that's a big part of why they've got such a kick-ass facility...But anybody saying that they're nothing but a tandem factory is either mis-informed or is bitter and trying to spread shit about the place. +1 In over 4 years I've never been bumped once. In fact they tailor the loads pretty well so no one has to wait too long. The OP forgot to mention the sport jumpers get their own pass at 13,500 after dumping the tandems at 10,000. Very few DZ's make 2 passes like that.
  11. My guess is you'll hear from them very soon on this forum. They will find you. Somehow they have a knack for that.
  12. That Jager is some N.A.S.T.Y. shit........
  13. I have almost every jump on Infinity risers and follow this exact procedure on every pack job. I noticed the "slack" early on when I got my first Infinity rig at about 20 jumps and have watched this closely. So far I have never had a toggle fire but I'm pretty sure I will be having one soon now that I've mentioned it.
  14. +1 +3 I've always carried my wallet in my front pocket ever since some dip shit tried to pick pocket me. He paid the price with a broken wrist.
  15. Of course as usual I didn't pay attention to whom I was responding so my previous post was with all due respect. No subversion intended. Greg
  16. That's needs to be clarified. If you lie on your application for the FAA medical that is in fact a violation of the FAA. You are required to tell the truth. They don't care why you have the medical. If you have a valid medical and then consume medication that violates the FAA standards then, as long as you are not attempting to operate an aircraft or such that a medical is required by the FAA, they don't care and would only be a violation of the USPA.
  17. So you didn't "quirk" out eh? How do you think you know what the dangers are and how to approach them with 48 jumps?
  18. I have similar experience that you have except for the DE. The coach course is nothing compared to what you know including teaching methods etc. It's a very basic course.
  19. I have been coming forward since the day he started his TI training a few years ago. I am also going to call his bluff on jump numbers. Not that jump numbers really matter but to point out that lying pathologically isn't a trait most people would want in a TI.
  20. That's a peculiar statement. I can say for certain that there are as many Pilot's than Sabre 2's at my kinda large dropzone. I can also say that every single one of them including myself absolutely loves the way they fly. (I have 2). I used to jump the Sabre 2 but I moved up to a canopy that doesn't have end cell closure, doesn't open off heading, doesn't wind up like a clock and is much more responsive (and fun) to toggle input. It is hands down a superior canopy and people are starting to figure it out. Oh...and one other thing. You don't see a second version of it. Aerodyne got it right the first time.
  21. It's about integrity and not any disclosure laws. It's not about what you can get away with it's about being safe. I think it's really selfish to lie about this stuff and put unknowing trusting citizens' lives in jeopardy.
  22. No. I don't really care where he is. And I really don't have anything to take up with anybody else. But you are right and I did take out the name of the dropzone. I didn't mean to put the blame on any one DZ. I was putting the blame on the FAA for issuing a flight medical to someone that has a long standing history. I am a pilot. I have been for a long time. I have thousands of hours flying commercially and I know hundreds of pilots that I've worked with. Never once did any of us even think about missing any prescription or medical condition, on the application for medical, much less lie about it. It's makes me sick to think a skydiver would not even stop to think that lying at some point is going to catch up with him.
  23. It is on Joao's site. I just ordered it. $55.99 shipped.
