  1. Look at the lines in the photo, they are bright white and the "patch" stitching looks to be factory done, but I don't know that type of main. Regardless, we can all probably agree, sell the main as a "kite" or give it away for free because it's not doing the overall sale any good. 7. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=Detailed%2FComplete_Systems%2FJavelin_main_and_reserve_-_Great_Condition_154657.html;d=1 It's now listed on this site if anyone is interested, with serial #'s. I stand by my first assumption that it was legit and a ok deal, not a screaming deal. 9. I'd say legit. It's probably mid-1990's J-1, which is a smaller container for most beginners. Non-brand name and small main, even with low jump #'s it doesn;t make it more attractive. Ok, the Smart is the best thing about this rig, but no DOM on the reserve or rides. I'd say it's a good deal, not a great deal though. I'd pass on it personally. Edited to add, the base rings say 1993 on them, so it's an early 1990's rig. Looks to be more than 200 jumps on the container with the fading going on. 10. And that is the kicker, to use your GI Bill or your one time certification moneys, the training needs to be accredited, which none that I have found are. It takes a lot of money and time to get those credentials. I do believe you can use some of your GI Bill to pay for the FAA tests that are required, but he training isn't covered. 12. I would say 370/365's are the industry standard for most locations with variable weather. Some DZ's in locations that have a constant wind have 340's and some have 340's for light passengers. 402, couldn;t tell you on that one. 18. That exact thing has killed people already. ***I've never been in a cutaway situation... But I can't imagine that when the time comes I would be worried about whether or not I recover the main. That just doesn't seem like it would, or should be, a priority at that moment. Unfortunetly with most anything we as humans do, we tend to get complacent after having done something awhile, even skydiving. We must always be vigilant and realize each jump is unique. 19. Gary, Nice checklist. Before EVERY day of jumping in the military, we do a complete review of training to include EP's. Keeps it fresh in your mind, especially not having jumped in a few months. It's like Safety Day everyday! It can be done at civilian DZ's, it just takes time to do it! 21. Legs where pretty negative with some knee dropping, pretty common on your first jumps until you figure your legs out. Lots of factors contribute to wonky openings, especially the things we can see like type of main canopy, type/jumps on the lineset, slider all the way up, type of packing bands they were using, who the packer was? It will make a difference. One thing for certain is nothing is for certain in skydiving, the occasional hard opening is probably going to happen on any canopy, so be a where of that. When you buy your own gear, maintain it and it should take care of you. On a side note, did you stretch at all prior to this jump? I notice a lot of people don't. It's more physical than you think, gets warmed up next time. Also think about strengthening your neck, and core with some exercises, it will help you in the long run. 23. Um good for them? Not sure what reaction you wanted to get out of this thread. Looked like crappy video of the ground and your audio under canopy. I hope they didn't charge you for that...
