I've found that the mat works around corners better to get you a smoother outside. You already have the cloth in the first 2 layers for strength. Bondo is a good idea also for smoothing everything out. Be sure to let everything cure good before you start painting though. The solvents take a while to evaporate so if you paint too soon sanding scratches will show up later. After you've finished the glass work on the box you might want to mount it to the helmet and get everything lined up. I jump a Nitron 170(around 400 jumps on it), demoed a Nitro 150(put 13 jumps on it), and jumped a borrowed Stilleto 150(about 100 jumps on it). The Nitron/Nitro doesn't turn as quick as the Stilleto, maybe that makes them seem bigger. The Nitron/Nitro are designed to open more stable than most ellipticals, maybe that's what makes them more docile. I've done terrible things to my Nitron packing and have proven it wants to open on heading, even with only one brake set. The Stilleto required more effort at the end of the opening sequence to inflate the end cells/fix the linetwists, but it wasn't bad. The Stilleto had much lighter front riser pressure. I got my new Competition Cobalt a couple weeks ago. I noticed right away the brakelines are too short, there's almost no slack in them with the toggles all the way up. I can only pull the front risers about 2 inches before the canopy starts bucking from the brakes being pulled. I'm going to have new lines made but need an idea how much to start with and where to add it. The canopy doesn't stall before I release the brakes, and the stow length on the risers looks right. I believe you'll find that once you get past the 32/42 models(36,38,48 etc.) you lose the LANC port. Also the 32/42's have the docking station for 1394 ports. If you want to use the 1394 port on newer models you'll have to take the camera off the helmet. I prefer the HC30. Im haven't seen the Tonfly system in person, but from the pictures it looks better than Boneheads. I like the 2k composites ring system because there aren't any parts to lose. In the helmet entanglement videos I've seen, the helmet stayed with the canopy. If it survives the landing you can just re-assemble everything and be jumping again, but not if you have to find all the little pieces of the pin type cutaway.
