  1. So where's a nice hotel to stay at near the dz? I prefer to camp in the yard so I don't have to crawl very far at the end of my day, but I know some people that really want a real room. 2. If you go to their website you can pre register to save some money. I bought a package over the winter with 3 tickets and registration for something like a hundred bucks. They haven't really had "specialty" aircraft for a couple years, they do have a Skydive Chicago otter, and Mullins king air. They do have specialty rigs, pm Stratostar about jumping a round if you want in on that. I think the boogie actually starts on Friday, us die hards start showing up wed. or earlier. Most good stories start with, "This one time... at Richmond". "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 3. I'm not so sure it even has to be a licensed jumper. It's just supposed to be someone who witnessed the jump. I've got a couple of autographs from the helicopter pilots in my book. I also have the tandem students sign my book when they're writing down their address for the video. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 4. I made a 90 at 500 feet that was too low. I've done "S" turns at less than 5 feet that were just fine. Make sure you let the rest of the load know if you're going to do something stupid, and look before you turn. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 5. Here's mine right out of the box last year. The trim tape is actually flo. orange, it looks a little red in the pictures. You can copy it if you want, mine's based on the one in the Square-1 ad. 6. My old rig didn't have a Cypress when I bought it, still doesn't. My new rig does, and I would jump without the cypress in it also for maint. checks and the times you don't want an AAD on. I don't have a problem jumping with or without them. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  7. How does a lineover burn a hole in the bottom skin? Was the canopy inverted? I don't know how it got the bottom instead of the top, but the hole is where the lineover started according to the video, maybe it's just a coincidence. The canopy also has a couple patches where I closed it in the zipper of my gear bag, oops. This time I had my rigger patch it with a different color so it would show. I call it Frankentron now. The brand new brakelines really stand out against the old HMA suspension lines. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 8. The first was a tension knot on a student rig. The second was when my canopy exploded at the Richmond boogie, I didn't pack that one either. The third was because it was spinning and I didn't figure out what was causing it when I hit decision altitiude, found out after watching the video a few times the right brake was not set, my fault. The fourth was from flying headdown at 190 MPH in my Vector 1 with bad velcro on the riser covers, the right toggle came out about 5 feet and tied the slider, front and rear risers together in a knot, could steer but not flare. The fifth was a lineover that burned a hole in the bottom skin so it didn't flare right, the video is on here. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 9. I had 2 in the first 100, then dropped that to 4 in 300, 5 total now. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  10. From what I've read in the past the tracks were designed and built long ago when the speeds weren't that high. I remeber when they used to think breaking into the 4's was impossible until Eddie Hill did it, then they said 300 was impossible. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 11. Our pea pit ended up costing $1109 in gravel. One of our jumpers had access to a Bobcat to dig it. It was big too, I think 14m diameter, about a foot deep, not much of a hump stickng up. 12. Holy Moly! I must've been drinking just enough if I don't remember a Mardis Gras party. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  13. I'm sure glad I didn't go down there Sunday, It's a 2 1/2 hour drive. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  14. I've gotten some crazy 300+ readings once in a while too. I once hit 435 right out the door. I do believe the 304 we did at Summerfest last year, less than 30 seconds freefall time from 14,000. 15. 120 is the biggest. I talked to George at precision when I ordered my new rig, he said that a 135 Xbrace would be like driving a Ferrarri downtown and he wouldn't make that size anymore. I take that back, he said he would but minimun weight is 300lbs. and that I should get a 118 instead. Maybe for the next canopy. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 16. Well I guess if your gonna twist my arm like that. I spent a lot of time in the pond, so no I didn't notice the heat. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  17. And yet you were at Summerfest last year I was jumping at a very relaxed pace last Summerfest, and she was packing everytime I saw her. Maybe this year, or some of us may make the journey earlier. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 18. I haven't actually met Sunshine yet, but I did get to jump with Val. Her and Paula did an extreme patty cake jump. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  19. I thought all the PD canopies were F-111, but they had 7 cell, and 9 cell versions. I would think the Pilot 150 would fit fine either way. Ryoder is right though, I was using a borrowed 150 Stilleto in my rig that held a 215 Monarch easily. The closing loop was so short it barely went through all 4 flaps, and still didn't have as much tension as it should have. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  20. The D-bags are normally sized for the container, and you don't change them. The Pilot may be easier to pack depending on which PD 170 you have. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  21. I would also like a collapsable slider, it's very anoying to keep grabbing for the strings to stop that racket when they aren't there. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  22. You did the right thing for Karma and safety. The 1:1 wingloading for new people stops at 150sq/ft. Unless the canopy was as small as the container will take, you wouldn't get a 150 in it. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  23. My rigger said just tie a pink bow around it so it will at least look pretty, since it's a Javelin it probably won't work anyway. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
  24. We usually reccomend getting a new container and a used main for your first rig. Having a container fit properly is a wonderful thing. Doing video I've had to borrow other peoples rigs for back to back loads. I hated the 150 Stilleto when it was in a rig for a guy 6 inches taller than me, loved the same canopy when it was in my own rig. You probably won't keep your first main for very long so go used if you can find one. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. 25. I was going to work with my master rigger to build a scaled down hybrid sail version of my Nitron. He said before we jump it as a normal main we would have to hook it to another harness, and direct bag jump it with a regular rig on for a couple dozen jumps(2 mains,1 reserve, 3 canopies total). He died of heart issues before we got a chance. "If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
