  1. nope, not at all. I started to write something with some sarcasm, which I was kinda hoping was what his/her comment was, then I erased it and just wrote the explain
  2. you feel it a little out off small planes(cessna 182) because they are typically going slower when you exit, so you do speed up a perceptible amount. Most 182's will be going about 70-90 mph vs say an otter which is usually closer to 100-110mph
  3. I would like to add one thing to what others are saying about being "left alone" after the initial static line and practice pulls. You generally wont be completely left alone. On your first free fall, 5 and possibly 10 second delays a coach will be in the plane with you, and will watch your exit and freefall. Once you get past these jumps you should have a coach jumping with you. The coach is not there to hold your hand and help you, but will be in the air with you watching what you are doing, to let you know what you did right and wrong once you get back on the ground. And I do agree with what the others have said about S/L students more self confident jumpers.
  4. if you look real close after they separate. The reason the low main is distorted is because there are still lines connected to the top guy. You can just barely make out the lines, but you can see when the top guy swings back and forth the low canopy kinda rocks with him.
  5. who would i need to contact to demo a siccoro? Didn't see a demo section on the skylark site.
  6. first thing I notice is that you look VERY tense, and then the step is rather large. Since nothing can be done about the step. I suggest using it as best you can. What I mean is, instead of kinda rolling from your seated position, really push out with you legs. Doing this, it will get you out of the crouched position and almost get your legs behind you. Your arms seem to be in almost the right place other then the clenched fists. If your fist are clenched, it is usually a good indicator that you aren't relaxed. So, here is my suggestion for exit. Left butt cheek on the edge of the plane, left hand on door frame, both feet on the step(pointing towards the prop if you can), on exit push out,not up, with your legs and push your pelvis out really hard while slightly rotating to put your chest in the wind. Arms out and head up. You should be watching the plane fly away from you. I know it sounds like alot, but with practice you can turn it into one fluid movement. Good luck, hope this helps.

  8. +1 that's what I did with my second one. The first I just looked at a reg slider and figured out what to do from there.
  9. learn how to sew and build it yourself
  10. I have been following this in the incident thread and now this one. I have been wondering how many jumps did you have when you got your tandem rating? Me,I started my TI coarse at jump number 520.
  11. beer is beer... it only requires 4 things malt, water, hops and yeast. So they are both REAL beers, just different yeasts
  12. if he is willing to come to skydive walterboro in sc they will be more than happy to train him. They use S/L instead of AFF, but I know they have taught deaf students before and currently have a deaf jumper (Andrew Christian) who I'm sure would be happy to help translate
  13. circular saws do have "over cut" whereas with the chainsaw type you can do more of a plunge cut and not have to worry about the over cut. Just something to keep in mind
  14. not trying to be rude or sarcastic and I will prob get flammed on, but oh well, here are my thoughts. As a 34 yr old guy that flies a highly loaded canopy and started jumping about the time you stopped. Your reaction times are gonna be a little slower at 30 then they were at 23. Having said that, do buy a large canopy to start out, rent/borrow gear for 20-30 jumps to get a feel for flying again. Then demo some canopies to get you into the range that you want to be in. You are going to be rusty coming back into the sport, but having flown H/P canopies before will help. Take it slow and try not to break yourself. Oh ya don't forget your camera and make sure you get yourself a SoFPiDaRF shirt. Hope this helps, have fun and fly fast

  16. I've done this for several years with my power company. Not sure if yours will be the same, but the way mine works is every new year they average your rates again. So if you have a good rate this year and decide to crank the AC and heat next year the average goes up. Pretty straight forward. Mine usually stays pretty much the same, $20 or so fluctuation from year to year.
  17. I personally like to wear gotarz, great seal, never have to worry about wind. On a cheaper note though I have used these with great success as well. They can be found at most any welding supply store or safety supply store. http://www.discountsafetygear.com/starlite-safety-glasses.html?gclid=CO6toqjN-aoCFdwg2godKhWHBQ
  18. I can't believe nobody has mentioned chuck's. I like the converse all star because they have a nice slick bottom but aren't as bulky as most skate shoes, and they give some ankle support which skate shoes don't
  19. I have looked into it, and talked and emailed Trevor Thompson at skyventure about pricing. You are looking at around 3 million for a 14ft recirc, that is the structure, equipment, training of tunnel fliers, operators, and management. Then you have to have buy land to put it on, have it built, get it wired, pay for all the permits, and cover living expenses while you are supervising all this and learning how to run it. So all said and done you are looking at between 5 and 6 million start up cost. Well worth it, if YOU can come up with the cash, cause banks aren't lending to folks that need money, only to people that already have it.
  20. in Ireland don't count SL... need 25 FREEFALL jumps julio_gyn is correct for the US as well, it's still 25 freefall jumps. Static line jumps dont count towards the 25. I know first hand, being first a static line student and now a SL/I
  21. I like to get in the lane that doesn't end and get beside the people like you, make sure NEVER to look over at em, and don't give an inch. Just keep on driven until I run em off the road. Guess that make me the jerk
  22. whisky= glenfidich (18yr old) whiskey= bushmills black bush
  23. I think it's funny that a guy named porpoishead is saying not to fly a dolphin.....just thought I would point that out
  24. I jump mainly at two dz's, one is a larger (twin otter) dz and the other is a cessna dz. The larger one has a set landing pattern and the small one doesn't. I completely understand having a set pattern when there a bunch of people in the air, however at a small cessna dz when there is never more than four people are in the air it's not as important. Now let the yelling begin
