  1. I've been in and around the sport for almost nine years now. That said, I just started jumping a little over a year ago. Accordingly, I have about one year of experience. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    main canopy

These are all very important questions that you need to ask your instructors. They know you and how you jump a lot better than anybody on here can guess. Don't take my word for it, find out for sure. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  3. What is this canopy used for? Oh yeah, and even if the test is successful, it didn't happen until video and pictures get posted in this thread. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  4. Swoop pond. Most injuries I've seen that resulted from chowing on a pond swoop happened when the person *missed* the pond and impacted on solid earth. Miss the pond, miss the airbag. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  5. What sort of postage should one attach to make sure the letter gets there? I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    NPS Permits

I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  7. Heh, a little desk fan won't be enough to pull the pin... particularly if you put the fan's weight on top of the bridle [so all pull force goes into the fan, not into the rig]. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  8. Has Airtec released a higher-resolution x-ray image of a rig with a Cypres? The tiny little compressed image has always bothered me and I can see how it would bother a TSA agent. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  9. Pull the PC out of your rig. Put a small fan on the ground. Inflate your PC over the fan. Take a picture at the appropriate angle. Photoshop. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  10. ...yep. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  11. I've seen bags for 300+ feet, but never a terminal bag. Quade, how big is this thing? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  12. Any pics or video of the non-WS jump, Trebec? PM me if you don't want to post I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    BM Impact

Agreed on all counts, thanks for chiming in. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    BM Impact

There was a fairly long thread on the suit where many experienced wingsuit pilots equated the Impact's performance/twitchiness/etc. to an entry-level wingsuit. It seems that one could get into trouble with the Impact just as easily as with a small wingsuit. I could be remembering incorrectly, though. Don't take my word for it. [edit:] Found the link. Give this thread a gander, be sure to pay attention to Jarno's posts. Having just given it a once-over, I see that at one point he puts the "necessary experience" level at the wingsuit range[200] and at another point he puts it at the tracking suit range [60]. YMMV. Be sure to hunt down a BMI or PFI at Perris to chat. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  15. You missed the non-Odyssey Jav. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  16. What for? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  17. Here is an example of what digging out of a very low turn looks like. I recommend that you take a listen to Brian Germain's interviews on Skydive Radio. In one interview, he touches on what to do in that situation. His book goes into more detail on the subject, I highly recommend it. I have no first-person experience to draw from on the subject. Listen to those interviews, read the book and make a few hop & pops or CRW jumps to practice saving yourself up high. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  18. My first jump was AFF 1, I never made a tandem. It worked. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  19. I use a packing tool, I keep it in my pocket. It's my second one - I lost the first one in freefall when I forgot to snap the pocket shut. Lets just say I'm glad it didn't catch me in the face on the way out. I use packing tools because pull-up cords were cutting my hands after about 5 packjobs in a day. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  20. Do your cutaway cables only clear the loop by an inch? Looks like it in the video. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  21. Wow, bummer. I wonder if Canon chose to use floating lens elements to combat breathing or changed their IS system for this particular camera. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  22. It gets chilly enough at altitude in the winter to wear gloves and long sleeves - some wear scarves or face masks, but not too many. I was kept on the ground a few days last winter at Perris due to clouds. That's about it. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  23. Post the video I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  24. The landing was quite graceful, all things considered. I don't know who was flying that load, but cheers to him. I was one of about a dozen jumpers in the grass landing area when the van came in. I'm sure half of those at the DZ saw the landing and will be able to give more detailed reports. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
