  1. Agreed... IS is not necessary at this focal length. I'm sure I've posted it before, but this was taken handheld without IS on that 70-200. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  2. I need to move! I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  3. $13 a ticket? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  4. Here's a fun one from yesterday... I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  5. True, but just as many bad things can happen to tapes as can happen to HDs. And to this day, I've had more tapes dump out than HDs. That's just one man's story, of course. My main problem with P2 media is the price. A 16GB card of anything should not cost $1,300 these days. With flash prices dropping, it won't be too many years before we're jumping to flash storage in most things... cameras to computers. Assuming more companies stick to the market price, it'll suddenly become attainable. So hopefully there'll be some nice, attainable HD+ camera I can stick on my head when the time comes. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  6. I was pretty impressed by how well traffic regulated itself today. As of when I left, I'd say 90% of the >90 traffic landed over by the pond. I didn't hear any complaints, particularly when they were already back packing by the time the rest of us waddled back. That said, some people did 180s into the grass strip [I don't know if anybody had a word with them... didn't pay that much attention] and a few others did their >90s a little close to the grass strip... close enough that I wondered what the hell they were thinking. Either way, it seems to have worked well for the boogie. I feel as though a more elegant solution is possible in the long run, though. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    New Toys!

The TM looks a wee bit happier than the student! I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    New Toys!

I used the non-IS 300mm to take this shot a while ago. Great stuff. :) I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  9. The ride to altitude was about 4 or 5 minutes when I jumped. I remember it being quite pleasant on a hot day, so I assume there was some sort of adequate ventilation. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  10. Heheh... I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  11. Not a bad guy to contact... I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  12. Very nice... great looking canopy. Do you have any closer pictures of the way that the bottom skin is built? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  13. My 22nd was a few weeks ago... and I didn't make a single jump. Though I made a hell of a lot on my 21st... Get through AFF and your 23rd will be a long day of jumping. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  14. Well shit, if it goes through... I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  15. Stringing a rope jump between EC and HD? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  16. I dunno, which do you like more? Which suits your flying better? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  17. Jarrett, I'm glad you finally got it sorted out. Whether you feel it's dangerous or not, I'm glad you won't be flying over/under tandems anymore. In the end, it all worked out well and I'm happy for it. I'm sure you're a good kid, etc... I don't want this to come across as an attack. But... I really wish you would reconsider this justification. It seems like you were just looking for reasons not to change. You were presented with opinions, incidents and reports from dozens of different jumpers of all skill ranges and experience levels from all over the world... and not a single one of them was saying that what you were doing was ok. Yes, some presented their thoughts poorly... but the message was the same. But instead of taking the information that was handed to you, you chose to rely on the one opinion that went against the majority. The one opinion that would make you right. I understand he's your dad and he's a very experienced and talented skydiver, but he just isn't right here. Whether you know that now or whether you're just changing your actions for the sake of avoiding drama, it's an important point to make. You weren't hunting for the right answer, you were hunting for the answer that would make you right. It wasn't about doing what was safest, it was about making what you were doing seem safe. The only thing that stopped you was a call from the manufacturer... but it still seems like you're only staying out of the death zone for the sake of avoiding drama. I hope that you think some more about it and start staying out of the death zone for everybody's actual safety... instead of the safety you were ordered into observing care of the internet. With all of this information in hand, maybe you should sit down with your dad and try and teach him something. Show him what everybody's been saying, show him that what you were doing really was dangerous. Every skydiver is a student, he's no different. No jumper is infallible. Maybe he'll keep vidiots away from him for the right reasons instead of the wrong ones. I know we've butted internet-heads in the past, so I hope this doesn't look like an attack. I just wish you'd change your attitude. Sometimes stepping back and looking at the whole situation can make an enormous difference. All the best. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    Armor Deal

When I compared it side by side to several other suits, it seemed to have among the flimsiest spine protectors. I like the Dianese better, and I liked the Fox Racing the best, in terms of spine protection. Thanks. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    Armor Deal

What makes you not a fan of the brand? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  20. Physically? The next time you're on the freeway, open the window and stick your arm out. Imagine that all over your body at twice the speed... to the point that you're fully supported by it. In the car example, if you move your hand in a certain way to create lift... it'll push your arm up. Conversely, if you move it in the opposite way, it'll push your arm down. Imagine that control over every surface of your body. It doesn't feel like falling to me as much as it feels like floating in air. Lots of air. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  21. Gotcha, didn't know that all of those elements had been removed. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  22. So why would somebody want a Gargoyle over the He at this point? Articulation? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  23. And wouldn't that be a personal decision between a father and mother instead of grounds for commentary or one-uppedness between one base jumper and another? Not knocking you... I'm the first to admit that I know neither of the jumpers in this discussion and I don't have a place to comment either way. I just don't think this is a remotely valid point to make [regardless of who is involved]. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  24. Handbrake is probably your best bet. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  25. That's awesome... let us know when somebody jumps it! What a project. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
