  1. Damn spider sense.. gets me every time. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  2. I have Square1's instrument gloves... ran about $30... they do the trick! I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  3. It took me more than 100 jumps to buy a rig... I was broke. I finally bought a rig from a friend - it's so nice to finally not feel guilty when I only make a few jumps in a day. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  4. Fantastic! How'd you rig the external speakers to your Neptune? I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Five meters? Nice... I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  6. I bought one recently as well and I'm in love. Maybe it's the "my gear is the best gear" mentality, but still... I love it. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  7. Heheh, I'm actually prototyping a certain accessory that may make that possible fairly soon... Get out to CA, man. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  8. iPhone's .m4v... some ridiculous thing like that. Remember, you can't have laminar flow until you shave from head to toe. Eyebrows? Who needs 'em? Remember: lift={[x(z]+[eyebrow/p(x)]+[V(x)^2]/2sideburn]}/(i)§-1 ...duh! I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  9. I want an iPhone version. Awesome video, man... really enjoyed it. 9/10 awesome sideburns. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  10. I got pied in the middle of putting on my first locking stow while packing on a 10 minute call for 101. I showered, cleaned the pie off my d-bag, packed and ran to the plane just in time. The others on my jump dubbed it the "Pie 'n Pack". I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  11. That's hilarious... very ridiculous editing. Nice flyby, though! Got pretty freakin' close. Personally, I give the video 6/10 awesome sideburns. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  12. You guys rock... I'll try all of these next weekend. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  13. You just had to neutralize the "cool" a little. Flying wingsuits all day raises your "cool" factor... growing those sideburns brings it back down to normal levels. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  14. I recently picked up a [1st gen] PF tracking suit and have been tooling around with it a bit. I'm still quite new to it - 5 jumps thus far - so I'm fighting the learning curve. I'm getting fall rate averages in the mid-high 70s, but my tracking is still far from consistent on the jumps. Just looking for a little advice if anybody has some. The first hurdle was getting enough upper body lift to really get on it with my legs. Raising my shoulders and flattening myself as much as possible helps, but the legs still have most of the lift in the equation. I've been experimenting with knuckles-up and knuckles-down with no real definitive results. I find knuckles-down to be more intuitive, but I've seen top-notch trackers go knuckles-up. Because I can't quite make enough lift with my upper body, I've been bending my knees just slightly. If I punch my legs straight, I dip into a head-low position [or completely stall]. I have the toe hooks keeping the front surface pretty taut. As for de-arching, I've been able to fly fairly flat, but there's still some arch to my body position to feel stable. As soon as I flatten out or de-arch, I'll either feel squirrel-y [bobbing forwards/backwards] or completely stall. Long story short, if I go into the same body position I use in my freefly suit, I can stall. I'm currently using a slightly less aggressive position for stability's sake. So while I am getting decent results out of it at this point, I'd love pointers if anybody has some to offer. I'll go for outside video when the opportunity presents itself, but I've never seen many tracking suits around Perris and I don't know any of the local wingsuit jumpers. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  15. Hey Leroy, I shot some stuff at 8,000 ASA. I've seen it go to 16,000 ASA. Great for night stuff with no light. Just saying... come to CA. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  16. Well... it's partially my fault. What I didn't make clear is that this is a camera that is aimed at the narrative cinema market. There are already several studio features shooting with this camera. To projects like that, saving camera, film, processing and transfer costs is great and all... but dropping literally tens of thousands of dollars per day on the camera department is not out of line. From a skydiving perspective, it's a niche thing. Unless you've ever flown a 35mm motion picture film camera on your head... you probably won't fly this bad boy. I can think of about 5 or 6 flyers who I could see getting their hands on this in the near future. But you know what? When we do shoot with it, I'll be sure to get it on some zoo loads [if only for the irony]. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  17. There's only one other 4K camera on the market... and renting it for one week costs more than buying the RED ONE. Its value is estimated at a half-million. As for the lenses, Arri makes a very similar zoom to the RED 18-50mm zoom... but Arri's is $45,000. As for the primes, $20,000 for the set is a bargain compared to a set of Cooke S4s... which I've seen go for over $200,000. Spot pretty much hit it on the nose. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  18. Oh yeah, 2K [2048x1152] at 100fps is in the pipeline as well... that'll be fun. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  19. For those that have been following the RED ONE project, the first 25 cameras shipped on Friday. The camera shoots 4K RAW [4096x2304@12 bit] in a 10lb package [plus lens, battery]. It's capable of recording to compact flash. I've been in touch with a few camera flyers about getting it into the sky. I don't own a camera, but I did shoot with it on Friday and Saturday. As soon as everything lines up, I'll get one onto somebody's head for some freefall 4K. I couldn't resist the stupid photo at the end of this post. It's a big puppy [compared to HDV/etc. cameras], but it's smaller than most/any film camera you'll see up there. With a prime lens and a small battery, a 12-13lb package is achievable. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  20. Of course, I do for everybody. I just don't like to assume that high jump numbers make somebody invincible to possible mistakes and their consequences. This is exactly why my post said "Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding something" and "I really don't know what I'm talking about". Would you prefer that I just not ask next time? Thank you, now I know. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  21. Full-frame or cropped SLR? I really don't know what I'm talking about.
  22. Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding something, but was lurking a tandem in a dramatically different suit you were almost completely unfamiliar with the safest decision? I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    Canon 40D

Woowoo! That puts me one step closer to being able to afford a used 20D! I really don't know what I'm talking about.

    Misrouted RSL

Heheh... you mean people don't usually seal their packjobs with wax? I really don't know what I'm talking about.

It should look more like this. Granted this is a different kind of rig, but the routing concepts are the same. AFAIK. I'm not a rigger, so I may very well be an idiot. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
