  1. My friends just moved to Palm Coast...I'm going to visit them around November and plan on going to Titusville for a couple of days minimum. Whats the deal on the 18k jumps? Is that an option on every load or just an occasional thing? 15,000 feet of freefall instead of 9000 is just too damn attractive!!! Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  3. Dropzone is just a front for online meeting...it's the myspace for skydivers...like everything else on the net, it all leads back to sex or gambling. Why else do they list canopy size AND wing loading??????? Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  4. If you are doing a solo belly jump, you don't need to wear a jumpsuit really. If you are doing a 2 way, that jumpsuit will probably help you fall more constant with the other person. I personally get like 0 forward drive in a track without something on my legs...but I'm a noob so that could just be my bad technique (then again they make tracking pantz for a reason). If you are trying to head up freefly you might be better off in shorts and a long sleeve T...less drag on your legs to mess with you. I almost always jump in shorts and a long sleeve t. I grabbed a couple double XL T's so they are super long to tuck in...also gives me a little more drag in the arms while I learn head up flying. You need to pay close attention to whatever you wear that it doesn't have loops or snag points...especially those key holder loops they sew into cargo shorts and board shorts. Someone on here had their hackey go through a loop on their waist, giving them a pc in tow...and eventually a cutaway main in tow while under reserve...no good. 5. I'm afraid of the final cost to be a proficient freeflyer as a fun jumper..... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  6. 2.5k, 3k, 4k and 5k hop and pops are all fun and dandy, but nothing beats a sunset load 13k hop and pop. The nice cool air, a view for miles and miles, relatively quiet...such an awesome way to end a good day of jumping. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  7. You have to let her know about the other women you've been with and their perfect boob jobs. It's a must that you get flirty with one of her friends...preferably the one with the rep for liking her friends current or ex's. Or the one that she is most jealous of. Grabbing her hair and pushing her head further while she's fellating you is a nice touch...I mean, this is for my pleasure not hers, right? Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  8. and 101, and 102, and 103, and 104. My #100 was a 2 way with Chisholm. I was head up flying while he was head down docking on my harness and hand. Alex Allen flew camera for me and got some great video. He's giving me the digi stills on Tuesday, so maybe I'll post one. Thanks John and Alex for the great jump. And thanks to everyone on dz.com and at Perris for all the help along the way. Later in the day I did a solo crew pass. Didn't unstow my brakes until like 6000 feet...so I had a great view of a large airliner almost wiping out a tracking group comprised of a several of my friends. I believe our own DiabloPilot was involved in this mess. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  9. According to the BBC website, the man shot and killed was a Brazilian with no ties to the bombing. The Met police and Scotland Yard are issuing apologies and calling it a tragedy. Looks like he was running because someone not in a uniform was chasing him with a gun. Imagine that. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4711021.stm Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  10. Someone answered you, but I'm not saying they are right. I too have wondered if canopy size has any relation to getting slammed. The material of the lineset makes a definate difference though. Micro lines will transfer something like twice as much force to your harness due to their lack of stretch. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  11. I wasn't implying that he "talks smack" on any particular individual...because no, he's not like that at all. But he's expressed to me his displeasure with someone with so-so flying skills coaching. I know for a fact he feels any freefly coach should be able to pass both the head up and head down checkout jumps. He also has expressed his displeasure with coaches who are in it solely for the cash. John is a coach for one reason - skydiving has given him a lot and he wants to share that with others. Karenmeal, I guess you should add that to your list of what being a good coach requires as well. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  12. On a small plane you might be able to keep track of everyone in the sky, but that's going to be pretty tough on a full Otter unless a like 16 way left in front of you. My exits go like this: After touching all my handles in order they will be used- 1. Check green light 2. Check spot 3. Check separation of group that exited ahead of you 4. Look for other/low aircraft while doing all of the above (this one is important. Almost every time I'm at Perris some plane or chopper rips over the DZ airspace not in radio contact) 5. Jump - make sure not to track (or in my case backslide ) up and down the line of flight. After opening, make sure canopy isn't flying up and down line of flight. Find the groups that left before you and after you. Then work into the pattern. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  13. High altitude hop and pop to end the day. I was first out on the crew pass. Made sure to give myself like a seven second delay, ironically not for terminal air but so that my protrack would register the jump. Was in a good body position, signaled, then tossed my hackey. Nothing happened. Put hand back on BOC pouch and sure enough hackey was gone. Banged my container with right hand as hard as I could and was getting ready to look over my shoulder to figure out what was up when I felt the bag leave the container. I don't know if the pin was pulled upon intitial deployment or not. My feefly coach saw it all from the door of the plane. He said the pilot chute was definately inflated, but couldn't tell much more. He was just stoked that I didn't panick and perform EP's at 11000 feet. This was kind of nerve racking at 11000 feet...would have been boxer soiling at 3000 feet. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  14. I get freefly coaching from John Chisolm of the freefly mega center...argueably some of the (if not the) best flyers around. Here is a how a typical session goes: Look over the last videos...find one or two things to work on. Go over things on the ground. Since I'm sitting, I'll spend some time in a chair. We'll do both isometric and kenesthetic drills to build muscle memory. Gear up. Do some drills with gear on. Mock up exits. Then do the skydive. The FMC has in air communications setups...my coach can give me simple instructions in freefall...nice feature you might want to look into. Land and debrief immediately. We go over the video in slow mo several times, pausing to make points, etc. Then watch the jump full speed a couple of times. At the end of the day, I can firewire or burn my jumps to DVD. He also does fun jumps with me. I do whatever we've been working on while he orbits head down around me, docks on me, spins me out or something else. We always hit a sunset load crew pass to end the day. Hopefully you can pass both the head up and head down LO jumps...my coaches talk smack on freefly coaches who cannot at least do this. 15. Whuffos don't go to Nationals. Whuffos don't even know what Nationals are. So whether 2 or 4 people actually show up and compete at Nationals or the USPA cans the event, the impact of skysurfing and its effects on the whuffo public will in essence be unchanged. Seriously, if only 2 or 4 people who participate in the activity care enough about it to show up and compete, I don't see the point of continuing the competition myself. Then again, I could probably piss everyone off and ask why there are any competitions in the first place? I didn't know that skydiving was about awards and medals, but everyone has their own motivations and desires I guess..... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  18. Did anyone else notice that this thread sat dead from December 3rd, 2003 until July 17th, 2005? brettpobastard just jumped into a 2 year old thread...and got everybody fired up all over again. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  19. If you watch a video of freeflying and say to yourself "Holy shit...that is awesome! I want to do THAT!", then it is time to start freeflying. No matter how skilled the participants are, I NEVER said that to myself when watching belly flyers turn points. I just started freeflying myself. I started somewhere around jump 50. I should have learned to track on my back before I started sitting. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  21. ...specifically the freefly basics portion. Some good stuff on that disc. I now have a good visual idea of how people are changing fall rate (continuously I might add) in head up dives...going to a stand(or close) to speed up, spreading legs to slow, even having to go to the back to really slow down if someone corks onto their belly. I've listened and read about it...but seeing it makes a whole lot more sense. The forward/backward headup movement is much clearer also. Can't wait to try some sit cartwheels tomorrow! 22. Are you sure he's not referring to Jimmy Trantor and Chris Hayes (Paxton Vinyard flying video)? Sounds a lot like what happened to them. I'm guessing that there is footage of that with the Nationals video, if anyone has it. (I don't)Quote He could very well have been talking about these guys...my "names in skydiving" knowledge is like non-existent. My guess is we are talking about the same peeps though. What's cool is to know how good my coach Chiz really is. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  23. Talked to my freefly coach/guru John Chisholm. He can track feet first belly or back...just about as flat as his regular track. He said Gi is super sick at it. He also gave props to the Lodi boys. Said they were doing feet first tracking in a tracking competition dive a few years back but they got last place. He thinks they should have gotten first and that the only reason they didn't is that no one could comprehend what they were really doing... I'll get some vid of him doing it. 24. I don't loosen my chest strap or alter my position in the saddle until after I've unstowed my brakes and done a quick line and control check...what if you need to cut your main due to a toggle coming off in your hand when you unstow, or an ugly tension knot or something and you're all loosey goosey in the saddle?
