  3. Jon Chisholm is a kick ass freeflyer out at Perris. He will be videoing some 4 way stuff, but could probably help you out as well. Call Perris manifest and have him paged. Actually, I will PM you with his mobile number. Kurt Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  4. My initial thought was to pull the reserve immediately...hopefully they wake up somewhere with a little altitude remaining. After I posted this last night, I tossed other ideas around in my head. Like if you knew they had a cypress, let them go down till it fires. They would be low to the ground and will probably land on the dz. But then you are relying on that technology. And they would be deploying very unstable. If you pulled their reserve high, depending on the winds @ Perris they could end up on the 215, or the reclamation center on Goetz...maybe even Elsinore (ok, that's an exaggeration.) That canopy with brakes stowed is going to travel a distance with some wind. I now think I would ride them down to like 3 or 4k and pull their reserve, dumping my main right after. Hope this always stays a hypothetical situation for me. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  6. Say you did an exit holding on to someones harness, or were at any point of freefall docked or what not, and the person became unconscious for what ever reason. What would/should you do? I did a two way exit today from the Skyvan and for some reason I jumped a little as I ran out, and bashed my helmet into the top of the ramp. It was loud enough that the two way cameras behind me mikes recorded the bang over the sound of the engines. Scared the heck out of the girl I was jumping with. And she asked me what she should have done if I was knocked out. I didn't have an answer for her. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  10. I think more people blow out there knees playing tennis than any other sport. The statistics are way to vague. We would need accurate jump numbers, and accurate jump numbers by license catagory. It would be interesting to see the differences in the jump number/injury or jump number/fatality ratio between A license jumpers compared to D license jumpers. 17. I did a 13000 foot hop and pop last week @ Perris. Had a good canopy overhead for 11000 feet. Just crossed back over to the dz when I saw a plastic bag in front of me at about 1500 feet AGL...just a lonely plastic bag. Next thing I knew, my canopy collapsed into a total mess...not like when you stall and it folds all pretty...but like it left the D bag with no stowed lines or slider. Was getting ready to chop it when it reinflated. Kicked out of the line twists, got back on heading, did a control check because my bridle and PC were now wrapped over the front cells of and underneath my canopy. That little bag tried to give me a warning. The dust devil name is misleading...because often times they are invisible. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  20. Thanks! Continuum III is in process-- We're going to *try* to release it at/by BD'06 I know Douggs was ripping high 20's from Smell like 5 years ago--and that was just in a pink tutu/leotard and trailing a handbag! Think what he could do in a dress! pope I have Continuum II. It is awesome. I might have watched it too much...when I put it in the dvd player my chick never fails to say, "Are you really going to watch this again?" She is not fond of Adrenaline Rush either. 21. My Dark Side sig refers to freeflying...not BASE...maybe I'm using it wrong. BASE already owns me too, but I'm not going to put that in a sig line being that I've never jumped an object. I'm definately not in a rush. If there is one thing I have learned in my 100 or so jumps...it's that I have lots to learn, and will ALWAYS have more to learn. One day though, I look forward to opening a bunch of new local objects with some members from this board... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  22. I started skydiving solely to BASE jump...skydiving as I was aware of it wasn't really appealing to me.(I only knew of belly RW work or skysurfing). But I'll tell you what, every time I would see Jeb's "A Year in the Life Of" or whatever it is called, I'd get chills up and down my spine. My friend Bill Stampfle, who was once one of BR's FJC instructors, reccomended I have a minimum of 150 skydives. So I drove my ass out to Perris and Jim Wallace, who Bill happened to also once work for. This was Jan 31st of this year. I was upfront with Jim Wallace from the day I set foot in his school. I told him my sole reason for skydiving was to BASE. Apparently I said it with enough conviction, because what he did was give me lists of canopy skills to work on and drills to perform during every skydive. Now, being that this is Perris and all, I'm sure the attitude towards BASE jumping is much warmer than some other DZ's. All that being said, I now have ~110 jumps. I would love to say that the magical number 150 is coming up soon and I'm off to Apex...but the fact is I don't think I'd be comfortable enough @ 150 jumps. I'm shooting for 300. And I'm also awfully glad that I found freeflying...because I still think turning points is boring...but flying your body in a multitude of positions and angles is pretty cool. In the meantime I lurk this forum. I haven't bothered stopping by Apex yet...who knows, maybe this winter I'll be hitting Tom up on his FJC. My point is starting skydiving solely to BASE isn't that far fetched... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
