  1. I was going to call Jim Wallace tomorrow and schedule a water training class for either Tuesday the 20th or Wednesday the 21st if these dates work for any of you. Don't know why I didn't do it on one of those 110 degree days! Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  3. If you do move to Huntington Beach, just go back to Perris... I know lots of good instructors at Perris. If you are really nervous about who your instructor is, there is the Jim Wallace Skydiving School @ Perris. Just ask that Jim Wallace himself be your instructor. Jim has like 30 years in this sport, and somewhere around 19,000 skydives. Alex Allen and JP (who posts on this board as DiabloPilot) work out of the Perris Vally Skydiving School (PVSS), along with Travis and Vinnie. I have learned TONS from the PVSS guys I listed above, even though none of them were my actual instructors. Just nice, helpful, GOOD skydivers who I would not hesitate to recommend as AFF Instructors or Tandem Masters to anyone. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  7. When the Cold War ended and a bunch of documents became unclassified, it was found out that FEMA didn't really have as much to do with emergency management as it did with the continuity of government after a nuclear strike. FEMA had railroad cars and semi trucks constantly driving around the US with comms equipment. It had bunkers hidden in hotels and mountains to keep government officials and selected others safe for months. I bet they still have a lot of the same stuff going on now. 9. There was a paper written just before the 2000 elections that basically outlines the Bush presidency. It's called "Rebuilding Americas Defenses". It was written by Cheney, Rumsfield, Jeb Bush and a bunch of other Hawks. One of its focal points is on the future of warfare and how it shall take place. It estimates by 2015 technology will allow for a unmanned vehicles to dominate the battlefields. Because of this, several weapons programs were reccomended cut by this report - the crusader howitzer, several new aircraft carriers and one of the Advanced Fighter programs. The reports thinking is that a weapons system in the US arsenal has about a 30 year life span...but in even 20 years a manned fighter plane or a massive aircraft carrier will be obselete. 10. Freeflying board is slow at times, so... I did a 4 way yesterday (only like my 3rd or 4th 4 way freefly) with some awesome flyers and an outside video flyer wanted some practice and jumped with us as well. Closed up a 3 level headup formation. On the ground I was totally stoked...being new stuff to me and all. But what was really cool was how stoked all these experienced flyers were watching the video afterwards...seeing their genuine enthusiasm made what for me was a cool jump even that much more enjoyable to be a part of. 12. I worked that one out in my head one day and came up with the same conclusion. They usually fuel up the Otters @ Perris every 4 loads...and they add somewhere around 100 gallons at a time. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  13. Probably...I could go on and on but it wouldn't matter to most people. After Cubas last hurricane, the power was out to 50% of the population for up to or longer than 22 days. No power means no electric pumps to run the water system and sewage systems...among other things. The hurricane stripped the islands fruit trees bare...leaves, flowers fruit...all of it. There is NO fresh fruit in Cuba at the moment.(well, I bet old Fidel has some) My GF's relatives house was damaged. Castro gives you a house, and you are not allowed to move. People don't have extra money for house repairs. There are no home depots. They had to salvage wood from a roof that had been blown off a warehouse to repair their home. But Castros raping of the health care system for his personal wealth has to be the most dispicable of all his actions. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  14. My girlfriend is Cuban...her father (a Cuban physician) smuggled her out to Spain when she was 1 1/2 years old. Her mother just returned from a 10 day visit to Cuba YESTERDAY. So please let me dispel these myths about Cuban doctors and such. Cuba, believe it or not, actually has a good medical establishment. It was one of Castros pride and joys. Physicians were well trained. People were well cared for. AIDS in Cuba is lower than just about every So and Central American country. But in the last three years or so this has changed. Over 1500 doctors have been sent from Cuba to Venezuela, and in return Castro gets oil, which he then sells. Castro also sent 3000 exercise specialists to Venezuela. Together, these cuban nationals have fanned out across Venezuela to get people in shape and healthy...and it has been a great success....for Venezuela. The Cuban people have suffered enormously from this gutting of their health care system though. They have been pounded by several hurricanes of their own...with a depleted medical staff. Cuba has its own hepatitus outbreak and strain...hepatitus E. There is a viral infection of unknown origin that is killing babies, children and elderly through diarreah and dehydration. Hospitals are full, but there aren't enough doctors to see patients. Castros offer was pure propaganda BS. He doesn't have 1500 doctors to offer. And if he did, it would cause the collapse of Cubas already eroding system, with the end reults being THOUSANDS of Cuban deaths. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  18. That is a bunch of bunk! If people want to make a tandem they will find a way to make one. I know of folks that have been charged nearly $500 per tandem. No justification for that nor for the business practices of Skyride. If they had set themselves up as something like expedia it wouldn't have been an issue. Fact is they didn't. What they did do was mislead consumers and redirect from real drop zones on the internet..period. Oh and they stole a lot of copywrited photos and...and..and. 'Nuff said. Betsy - I only made a reply to a specific post...I am not saying that overall Skyride is ethical or anything. But what Phree stated is not an unethical business practice.
