  2. Well it is supposed to be the time of year in Nor Cal when skydiving is off the hook. Well mother nature has had other ideas as of Late With that said, the American Boogie is around the corner (June 23-June 26) This years aircraft include the Skyvan from Perris, two Pacs an a Llama turbine helicopter. Of course there will be quality RW, Freefly and wingsuit organizing, night jumps on Friday (until midnight) and good company throughout the event. Hope to see you all there!! 3. Why? All you, a relatively new jumper (with all due respect) have provided, is a link to a place which presumably worked out for you. Are you qualified to rate this place as compared to the hundreds of other DZs out there? I'd think the OP would be best served by something other than a mere commercial. Well Ed taught me also and I would recommend his program to anyone that asks about it. And yes, I too believe I am qualified Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  4. I don't know what medical insurance you have, but if it won't cover a skydiving injury I would look for new insurance! As far as Life insurance mine covers my skydiving as well, it costs more but that's the price of playing the game while protecting my family. 8. Well oil and gas prices are on the rise again so whats do you think is going to happen to our jump ticket prices? We saw the prices spike in 2008/2009 and tickets went up. Even though fuel dropped most jump ticket prices remained higher. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  9. I only had the honor to meet Pat on a couple of occasions. I was privileged to fly camera as he coached a four way team (regular vidiot was injured). During that brief tenure I was able to learn as he coached the team and he even took some time to help out me out. He always had a smile and was enthusiastic. I happened to hear this song yesterday and it really made me think about Pat. http://new.music.yahoo.com/3-doors-down/tracks/life-of-my-own--1801904 BSBD Pat, Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  10. Best one I ever heard between a TI and Student after they were geared up and the TI was explaining the skydive: He explained were gonna have a great skydive and when the time comes plan A is to deploy the main parachute and fly to the landing area. If something goes wrong with plan A were gonna gonna go to plan B and deploy the reserve parachute and fly back to the landing area. The student looked the TI and said "if there is a problem with plan B what is plan C?" The TI replied "Stand up, dust yourself off and walk into the light!" 11. I had 1200 jumps when I blew my neck apart at C6-C7. After my surgery and heal time my doctor cleared me to return to jumping. I waited an additional month as a precaution. Even though I am an AFF-I I reviewed all EP's, Landing patterns, PLF, canopy malfunctions etc with my instructor. I put a 188 in my rig (I jump a 150) then I then did a Cat. E2 with my instructor and was off and running. I did several jumps on the 188 then put a 168 in the rig. I made 5 more jumps with the 168 and then went back to my 150. 14. Joe was a very special individual and will hold a spot in my heart. I was the AFF instructor on his last skydive. He had struggled with E-2, but he never gave up!! I remember standing on the step waiting for him to dive out "Come on Joe!! you can do this was running through my head" He came out of the plane and it was GAME ON!! A little wobble here and another there, but nothing that required my assistance. He finished the requirements early, I remember flying in front of him and giving him a double thumbs up!! Unfortunately, he ended up getting injured on landing and required transportation to the hospital. I never got a chance to fill out his log book for that final skydive and it weighs on my heart. I hope his family will bring his log book to the DZ when we set his ashes free so I can make that entry. Joe, when it's my turn to get my next set of wings you will be the experienced one!! i hope I can get some coaching when I get there!! Blue Skys forever! 16. I don't think I posted it in the other thread, but good evidence of that is the pilot who stalled the aircraft at the boogie last year ... that was his first (I think) and definitely his last flight of the boogie (not a regular SkyDance pilot). Ray took quick action on that one. Yes it was, and to the other mentioned stall, it was not a stall at all. The nose began to climb and the pilot performed the stall prevention maneuver which assisted all the folks camping outside the plane with a safe departure. I actually have it on video so I know it happened! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  17. What he said. Just a few things: 1) I have chucked an 8-way out of the Pac (good dirt dive, pilot advised prior to take off, quick climb out and fast count) 2) I have been outside the aircraft in the center and had the pilot help us leave as we hung out to long. 3) I have been on the camera step and seen the nose attitude of the plane changing (nose beginning to climb) I let go (hell I had wings lol) 4) I can't put the next gently so..... To make any comment, suggestion, assumption, etc that Ray does not train his pilots and watch over them like a hawk is absolute lunacy!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  18. Thank God we didn't have video cameras, live tv and You-tube during world war II or we would all be speaking German or Japanese War is an ugly business and unfortunately there is collateral damage. Granted some in the military act like jackasses, but the greater 99% do not, thank god our community is represented 100% of the time in a positive light Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  19. ?(still have a little time) 0 = Mother nature refuses to leave Nor-Cal alone 0 = No beer owed I did however spends some time at a friends messing with their Wii, watching them kick the shit out of each other sword fighting was a riot. I think every marriage counselor needs a Wii with that game!!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  20. Well the day has finally arrived!!! After a non-related injury I have finally been released by my surgeon to return to skydiving
  21. What surprised me about that video was that the instructor did not even attempt to fly his slot. My AFF training was that I was to do my best to always be able to take the grip if necessary. This instructor does not seem to be making any efforts to maintain close proximity. _Am Some instructors give the student more room to fly. Nothing wrong with that, as you dont have to always be on the main side to pull for the student. I have pulled many students from the reserve side. If AFFI's are going to give the student more room to fly, as in this case, they better be good at taking an agressive dock should the student need them. I remember that dock from 5 years ago!! It was my first Cat-C and I had a case of the spins. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

  23. Did you buy the canopy new or used? You stated you checked the toggles and they were even doe that mean you compared them or measured them with a tape measure. Did you tie in your toggles or was it done by a Rigger? Have you jumped this canopy before? If so how did the canopy fly?Does the canopy turn at altitude as well? I know those are a lot of questions but I believe it may help others in providing a possible solution. Not to be rude but I find it hard to believe you are harness turning s Spectre 230 45 degrees (that would requite a ton of hip and body movement) Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  24. • Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode This improved version of Sony's Optical SteadyShot image stabilization corrects for a wider range of camera movement by enabling the camera lens to compensate for an even greater range of motion. In addition, 3-Way Shake-Cancelling adds roll stability which corrects for up and down wrist movement Unless you are filming belly to earth or possibly wingsuit filming I would not buy this camera. All the OIS systems I see shake when used for free flying. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
