  2. Hello All, This is the one time I know 100% that your vote will count!! I hope you will take the time to read and vote. Please post a reply when you vote to keep the topic bumped As many of you know I am a fireman and I have a friend that is a search and rescue dog handler. This is an extremely time and labor intensive program that she has taken upon herself voluntarily. Literally thousands of hours of training have been invested over the last three years by Shanni and her canine Annie. This is the type of rescue dog that searched Ground Zero on 9/11 and Oklahoma City during those tragedies. An opportunity to support the Shani and Annie has presented itself. The pet food company, Nutro, is sponsoring a program to recognize a Canine/Handler team. Shani Richeson and her dog Annie are the Canine/Handler team chosen from my District. All it takes is a simple vote by accessing the link below. It takes only two clicks of the mouse to vote for Shani and Annie. I'm sure that they would really appreciate the support of the dropzone.com family. Thanks! Feeble Click Here to vote for Shani and Annie!! PS also feel free to send this out via e-mail to all your friends and family. Every vote counts Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

  4. Hey all, It is with great pride that I got to photograph Lisa (Skybytch) Briggs and Keith (Avg. Joe) Wyatt on her FIRST instructional skydive as an AFF instructor. Lisa has been in sport for 18 years and has given so much to the community I felt it only appropriate to recognize her accomplishment as an AFF-I with this photo! ! (sorry she did not appear to be focused on geeking the camera) Thanks Lisa for all the coaching and friendship over the years! I love you in that freaky way P.S. Thanks for the Lisa Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  5. /13/0 Made 13 jumps at thge all of the above boogie in Molalla, OR. had a great time but rudely discovered that 4 months off for surgery and then 2 months flying flat video will hurt your freefly skills Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  6. well, considering it rains 18 months out of the year here, it'll prolly be shitty. hehe. if it rains that much there....they why the hell would anyone live there? I bet with all the crappy weather, the women must be pretty big....big and tall and big. yeah, just take a look at your date. =) Woot!!! 7. Im without a doubt going. And if I die, it wont be because my instructor used me as a cushion like at skydance in 2002. Chris-no-go, I am not a AFF-I or TI, just a lowly coach with a few hundred skydives. You have insulted a freind that tried to roll himself under the student (while under a spinning malfunction) trying to give his life to save the student. He lives with that skydive everyday and I am sure if the TI could have traded places with the student he would have. I doubt you'll make a skydive and if you do I don't want to be in the same plane with you and your negative vibe. I know I should not be a hater, but I would really like to do is punch you in the head for being an asshole and making such ignorant comments and insulting my friend. If you think I am kidding about the punch in the head, I believe there are many DZ.comers here that will vouch that I would gladly use your head as an airbag for my fist. Now crawl back under that rock which you have slithered out from under. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  8. Lisa, You are a friend and mentor!! When I was brand new to sport I was greeted with open arms cause I new someone at the DZ. Words can not explain how much I appreciate Avg Joes and your's time and effort in making me a better skydiver and coach. (Hell how many folks on student status get to do a 4 -point 4 way on their 13th jump anyway ) Congrats bytch, now post the photo!!!!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  9. Rebecca, I guess the last thing I need to ask is this: Do you like the way the Pilot flys with the exception of your difficult landings? I agree with Skybytch here (as well as others) do not buy a canopy because you might save a few dollars, screwing up landings can cost you alot in medical bills (I know I am being a downer, but it's reality). If you do like the way the pilot flys and your landings are the only issues I am sure they can be adressed with your rigger and instructor as mine were. 11. I agree completely. In actual practice, it just turns everything into a no-rules cluster-fuck. So I must ask what is a better alternative?? In the plane the landing pattern is set, everyone jumps, the winds have changed and you all land down wind?! That sounds pretty stupid to me for obvious reasons. Most DZ's have a preferred landing direction in light/variable winds (ours is south), but you still need to follow the first person down to prevent folks from setting opposing patterns. Yes, I will agree some moron will occasionally a down wind pattern, but if you can't land your canopy in a slight down wind you might want to rethink your canopy choice. In my meger 4 years in sport down wind landings have most often occured in low winds, >5mph. Personally I was taught to deal with down wind landings for the "what if?" situations that have and do occur in ever DZ I have jumped at.. I would rather land in a slight down wind (then discussing it with the person that set the pattern) rather than colliding with some idiot that didn't like the direction and did what he/she thought was a better option. If you don't like the rules at a DZ find somewhere else to jump, if stupid people continue to make stupid decisions the incident forums will continue to receive post after post. 12. Hi Rebecca, I have over 800 jumps on my pilots so I would like to ask a question: Under canopy have you taken the time to look up and see how far you have to pull down on the toggles before the tail actually deflects? On my 188 I noticed I had approximately 8" of pull before I had tail deflection. I spoke to my rigger and he adjusted my steering lines (problem solved)
  13. I use an HC5 with two different lens, I use a liquid .5 for the everyday jumping. With tle liquid lens I set the camera to manual, focused at .1 and the ant-shake off. I also have a centry optics HD lens, all the other settings are the same, but the manual focus is set to infinity. I love the clearity of the centry optics, but just dont jump a $350 dollar lens for everyday stuff. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

  17. As I said here in the U.S. most manufactures send a complete item and give the reseller 30 days to remit payment for such item. If the reseller spent their "profit" on an item that has not been delievered to bad. I would still demand my money back, but then again I can be an ( l ) Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  18. Don't get me wrong here, but how does the reseller get hurt if the order is cancelled aand his money refunded? Obviously if it's still 5 months out the rig has not even been cut most likely. I fail to see how the resellar gets hurt here; it is my understanding that in most industries when the resale location recieves a product the seller has 30 days to remit payment to the manufacturer, is it different over there? Not that I want to screw the reseller but I would cancel the order and demand a full refund for my rig. If I bought a car that was a piece of crap I dont go to the factory, I go to the dealer. 19. This sort of thing makes me wonder - I've got close to 5000 jumps and have never been hit in freefall, never been close to unconscious, nothing even vaguely of the sort.... Never even been dizzy. Of course the majority of those jumps I never had an AAD. It really makes me think that people are being far more aggressive because they have AAD's than they would be if they didn't. Here is a video of one of the jumps, I am the guy in the base that gets clobbered. www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=guestpass&id=brkhh If the link does not work: www.skydivingmovies.com Log in Search for: Weakmindedfool Select "Learn" Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  20. I only have 4 years in sport with 900 jumps and I would not jump without an AAD. Even though I never intend on it having to save my life, it's a cheap insurance policy IMHO. During my brief tenure in this sport I have had two very significant mid air collisions (one was my fault and the other was someone elses) both made me see stars and damn near rendered me unconscious. I would rather be sitting on the ground wishing I was in the sky than have something happen in the sky that puts me into the ground. Stay Safe, Feeble Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  21. Also we can't forget to thank the DZO. The Casa was cancelled on short notice for an unspecified reason (wow was that politically correct?? Everyone is shocked by me being that way ) and Ray picked up the phone and brought up Perris's super skyvan. Thanks Ray!!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  22. Well shit happens don't it? I had the privledge to jump with my instructor a few extra times during my AFF as well (Once you're off AFF getting in the air with your instructor can be a challenge). Brain lock happens don't sweat it (you are of course throwing yourself out of a plane 2 1/2 miles above the earth, it takes time to ajust ) But anyway I am only a coach, not an AFF-I so take my advice with a grain of salt: 1) Most imprtantly talk with your instructor to see if he/she can help you through this on the ground 2) Before your jumps go to the mock up and practice your dive flow from start to finsh, and by finish that includes a proper landing pattern. Repeat it as much as neccessary (as they say practice makes perfect). 3) HAVE FUN!!! We all have had door anxiety, This will pass with time and experience.
