S.IM. 5-2: Recurrency Training Contents: A. Students B. Licensed skydivers C. Changes in procedures D. Long lay-offs A. Students Students who have not jumped within the preceding 30 days should make at least one jump under the direct supervision of an appropriately rated USPA Instructor. I would inquire politely why the DZ requiring the additional level. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

Not so perfect AFF jump footage needed
Feeblemind replied to Feeblemind's topic in Photography and Video
Hello Brother/Sister Vidiots, I am working on a small video project for future AFF-I's. We have all seen the great students, but I would like to make a video showing some of the challenges an AFF-I may encounter. Obviously this is a training video, not one that disparages students. I am providing the video free of charge and would glad to send a DVD to anyone that provides footage. If you have some video you would like to share, please zip it and send it to me at [email protected]. Large files can be sent using www.yousendit.com/ Thanks in advance, Phil Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked -

Congrats Laszlo!! I remember meeting you in Z-Hills while I was in Florida for the Daytona 500. We never got a chance to talk due another visiter turning low requiring a hospital ride and I left shortly there after. Anyway, congrats on your accomplishment!! Bill, I am sorry but I disagree that I need to be a TI to shoot video of a tandem. What I do need to do is "LISTEN" to the TI's and more seasoned vidiots to shoot tandem video. Then what they need is common sense and we both know that cannot be taught! I have a bad lower back and never intend on getting a TI rating, but I have shot numerous tandem videos and plan to continue as needed. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

Help! School Project on Skydiving
Feeblemind replied to Phil5656's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well are you in high School or College? You have not filled out a profile so you will be considered a "Troll" in most jumpers eyes. If you are truly interested in our sport and what makes us tick, why not travel out to your local drop zone and ask questions in person? If you over 18 (at most DZ's) make a skydive and that will provide even further information. Other than that I would not expect an outpouring of support for your research. Working 48 hours Friday Morning to Sunday morning, zipping home to get my gear, then off to the DZ to teach a FJC followed and hopefully a few AFF jumps. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

Is there a shortage of instructors?
Feeblemind replied to aykay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
IMHO work depends on the end user. If I was a DESPERATE DZO I might define work as five or six AFF/Tandem a week as work available, not a lot of work yet work the same. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked -
This sport is basically all about the "look at me". Be it PD Factory Team or guy's like this doing all kinds of records... Obviously you have never met Jay Stokes, so you should keep you uneducated opinion to yourself. Jay is one of the best things to have happened to the sport in a very long time, but you would never know it when you meet him. He is very humble and does what he does for charities and recognition to the sport as a whole not as an individual accomplishment. Jay gives 100% to the sport, the USPA, The instructors he mentors, the students he jumps with etc. etc. etc. I hope you get the picture. So next time you are going to make a general statement of what someone is going to try and accomplish in the sport and their reasons for doing so please take a moment to get your facts straight!! If you decide not to do any research I would prefer you just sip on a cup of shut the hell up! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

Well it is 7:25 am, I am sitting in the lobby of the Cancun Palace drinking my coffee while the family sleeps in the room still. I am looking out across the white sand beach as the waves from turquoise ocean roll onto the shore Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

This is what I was referring to, that per the SIM the assigned pull altitude for a cat D-1 should be 5,000 ft. Sorry for any confusion. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

30 days for USPA don't know about Aus. thoguh, but look at the positives....if you have to repeat Cat A it's good review and it's still a skydive!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

From the SIM section 4.a.2.j: Stop all maneuvers at 5,000 feet and maintain a stable arch on heading with positive leg pressure through wave-off and deployment. Bodypilot1 is right on as always (no need to quote him ) Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

How to make an AFF instructor happy?
Feeblemind replied to sebinoslo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I addition to what Tom Said, when the instructors are busy practice the dive flow you were taught on your own. As many AFF-I's multi-task doing either tandems or videos you can still prepare why they are busy. Even though an instructor is performing other tasks they will most likely notice you are reviewing and practicing what you were taught. This will show your level of commitment and your desire to succeed (I think it's fair to say most AFF-I's are pretty perceptive even while performing other tasks in the hangar). We as instructors want to provide you every opportunity to succeed! The SIM has step by step objectives for each catergory dive flow. If you take the time to study the category dive flow you are on and rehearse it prior to your jump will better prepare yourself for your skydive. Good Luck with AFF and let us know how it goes!! Looking for a Good AFF Pic with 2 instructors
Feeblemind replied to Feeblemind's topic in Photography and Video
Greetings fellow vidiots and freefall photographers, I am currently working on an AFF video project for Jay Stokes and need a good back ground photograph for a DVD cover. I would like to have a photo with the two instructors docked with one hand. I recently had a Catastrophic computer failure and lost all my video and digital images (I know I am a dumb ass). If your interested in giving back to our sport by donating your work for credit only please let me know. I understand those that do not wish to "Give" their work away, and I respect that decision. The video is a simple edit of the AFF category "A" through "F" dive flows from two different views. The video was filmed in Yuma, Az. with the U.S. Army Golden Knights (AFF-I's) and Jay Stokes (student). The video is designed as a teaching aid for AFF-I's.
