  1. Robby, One of the nicest folks I have met in sport. You will be missed! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  2. ?? Most rigs out there that were built for a 190 will hold a 150 just fine. Not every jumper is going to want to downsize rapidly. Some people choose to actually learn to fly a canopy at 1.0-ish before going smaller. This process, when done with an eye toward safety and not with an "I'm that fucking good" attitude, will take at least a couple hundred jumps. If a newbie can't get 500 jumps out of their first rig, they are either downsizing way too fast or they bought a real P.O.S... DAMN!! A voice of reason once again!! 3. After this is over it would be a good time to write your local legislators and thank them for gutting police and fire protection funding!! Thank god we can still give folks free money for watching cable T.V. at the expense of so many others whom actually work for a living Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  4. OIS sucks unless you do nothing but fly flat (this was the problem with the HC-7) You are better off with the CX100, everyone I know that is jumping them loves them (mine is loaned to a friend while I recover from injury). Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  5. I am really happy that you could........ CHOP IT!!!!! Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  6. I don't know about pfree, but I never use auto focus. I set my camera to manual and make lighting adjustments on the ground. If you use auto focus the camera could decide to be an electronic bitch and try and focus on the sky rather than the object you prefer. Feeble Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  7. I currently use the XSI (and yes it does have a port for a bite switch, no remote needed) On an Avg Tandem it is not uncommon to take between 60-80 pics (I have taken more of some though) XSI takes high quality pics for most of what we do. I also own a 50D, but I doubt i would ever put that heavy SOB on my head Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  8. I use the Sony Pro SD Hc 8Gig. Fast and reliable Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  9. DSE got me into Sony Vegas Pro Platinum and I then upgraded to Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. It's easy to work with once you get the basics down. I am looking forward to exploring the power of the program. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked

  12. Here is a video of two different stalls in a Pac750XL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jfAaEWxJ2I I do not know what the chunk off the plane was as I am grounded due to injury, maybe someone that was on the load can provide that information. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  13. Absolutely!!, I would just let them know my safety is more important than points, if there was an issue with that I would not be on that team. I have no desire to have a close encounter with a horizontal stablizer of any aircraft. In addition, I have seen a 8-way with video launched from a Pac (I was the vidiot and those whom know my I am of the stocky stature). As previously stated, folks need to stay forward, the pilot needs to be informed of the larger group in the door, and the large group in the door needs to be efficient on climb out & exit. 14. Sorry to lose you brother!! I also am facing losing the sport due to an injury. I am holding on to the very last shred of hope that I will be able to continue to jump. Just remember when things in your life turn around the sky will always be there for you. If I am still jumping and still have my AFF ticket I will even pay for your re-currency!! Live well and care for your son!! Feeble Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  15. I have 800 jumps out of the Pac with numerous different pilots. I am normally the vidiot so I am the furthest to the rear. Even with the best of pilots (Chris was one of the best)a plane can stall. I have been on the camera step and watched the nose begin to pitch up (be aware of your aircraft, IMHO) and either felt a fast rock to port of have the pilot kick the rudder (get the fuck off the airplane). In my experience the near stalls were with large formations followed by a slow climb out and count (super front float, front float, two outside the door, rear float, vidiot and two in the door). Even though we made the pilot aware that much weight aft of the CG accompanied by the drag is difficult for the pilot to overcome with RPM and torque of the turbine. 16. Just as a question (you all have far more video jumps than I) Do you guys "Seat" your tapes? Fast forward to the end and then rewind before recording? I had issues with my HC5 dropping frames occasionally. A friend (a guy that rips cameras apart and rebuilds then) suggested I "seat" the tapes. Since I began this process I have no longer dropped frames. Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_bromide "The anticonvulsant properties of potassium bromide were first noted by Sir Charles Locock at a meeting of the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society in 1857. Bromide can be regarded as the first effective medication for epilepsy. At the time, it was commonly thought that epilepsy was caused by masturbation.[citation needed] Locock noted that bromide calmed sexual excitement and thought this was responsible for his success in treating seizures." You see? Don't masturbate ... it will cause you to have seizures, go blind, lose your hair and your pee-pee will fall off ... O Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
  18. Well if the student is off radio then he/she must have shown some degree of canopy skills to progress through the AFF category jumps. It is the instructors responsibility to determine when the student is proficient enough to come off radio. In addition, it is the responsibility of the student to seek out the knowledge needed to land their parachute. As an AFF-I I personally have not taught braked approaches until the later sign-offs for the students A License which are located in the category "F" section of their yellow card. 22. First I hope this post does not get deleted or moved as I feel the vidiots that are here daily might want to be informed. For those of you waiting for a response to a PM or just happen to frequent this forum. I got word earlier today that DSE was injured on Sunday while in Utah. (This is not the incident forum so don't even ask unless your a moderator in which case you can PM me for information). All I ask is you send some positive vibes to a person that has selflessly shared his knowledge with our community. Heal fast spot, we'll try hold down the fort while you recover! {{{{{{positive vibes}}}}}} Feeble Fire Safety Tip: Don't fry bacon while naked
