  1. Although its true you could get a metal pen that would make a much better weapon, I would still be surprised if I was allowed on with one.
  2. Its been confirmed! Water has now been discovered on Mars, check out the photo at NASA, http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap050401.html
  3. Well this isn't the first time a Holy Man has died and come back around Easter...

    Australian Story

Just watched Australian Story which was about aussie base jumpers. It mainly focused on the goal of 2 jumpers that want to do world records BASE jump (in terms of height) with wing suits, in india I think. They look at other areas of the sport, and covered the 2 deaths last year and mentioned Rusty's accident. At the end they said the National Parks department is going to review its ban on base jumping later this year. I don't think it will be lifted, but at least its a start.
  5. Would knee pads help at all?
  6. I packed and repacked mine several times at home to get the hang of it. I was a bit worried about jumping it for the first time. But I did, and the opening was great, on heading. Now I have no problems packing my own and jumping it.
  7. Does anyone else think Weekend at Bernies when they see the pope? So its bad to kill yourself, but is it also bad to just let nature take its course?
  8. In Australia, you can do solos or jump with instructors. Not sure about the US, but its probably the same.
  9. You have to be careful with long snivels. Something my instructor talked to me about was counting while its opening. We are taught "One thousand, two thousand, 3 thousand, check (look over shoulder" Now say it starts opening constantly at 4 thousand, 4 becomes your new three. Then the openings get slower and it constantly opens at 5 thousand, now 5 is your new 3... where do you draw the line?
  10. My instructor got me to stall mine, then let one toggle up really fast - that'll give you a scare if you've never done it before (do it high!)

    Darude

Darude is very good live, he played at a night club I often go to a year or 2 ago. He was great, really got the crowd going.
  12. My Dropzone the student rigs are SOS Ripcord rigs. The first step of our emergency procedures is "Discard", so if we keep our ripcord we didn't follow procedures correctly. IMO I don't think the student should pay for handles or repack.
  13. Maybe get a Target Assistant to guide you down. Try and learn form that when to flare. Talk to your instructors about it.
  14. I heard the golden nights do a couple of hours a day, not sure if this is accurate though.
  15. Skydive is done in the sky, dirt dive is done in the dirt.
  16. If she runs out, send me a PM. I have 50 as well.
  17. Superman is only superman on earth. Back on Krypton he would be just plain old Kal El (sp?). It was funny coming back to Oz after being overseas for a while, you could really pick out the aussie accent. Dino, when you go back over to Ireland do you think people will be telling you how much Aussie your accent has picked up?
  18. My pro-track beeps at the 1000ft mark when I am driving home from the dropzone. It goes into jump mode, I just turn it off before I leave.
  19. The reason there is a weight limit is because heavier people fall faster - not just in freefall, but also under canopy. I'm sure some of the tandem master here can shed some light one what its like to take a bigger passenger compared with a smaller passenger.
  20. Maybe the development cost that goes into mains? Reserves being a tried and true design are cheaper, whilst new mains come out every so often, so the R&D costs need to be recovered. Thats my first impression anyway, I'm sure others can shed more light on the matter.
  21. Thats what I like to hear! Have you ever been down to Australia?
  22. From memory the pro-track suggests wearing it on your leg, don't have my manual handy to double check that though.
  23. Although the guy was an idiot etc... Why wasn't the student rig fitted with an RSL?
