Here in Australia, if you stop anywhere other than at home, or the range with it in your car you can go to jail. You can drive to the range and home again, NOWHERE else.

Yeah, if there are less than 4 inflated it is High Speed, if there are 4 or more inflated it is low speed and you can have a go at clearing the malfunction. I had line twists on my AFF1, which is low speed so I kicked them out without any trouble.

By the sounds of things you did pretty well. As a student myself I can understand why you spent so long on it, but we were taught if the canopy is high speed (less than 4 cells) cut away, if it is low speed then you can try twice to clear the malfunction but after that cut away.

I'm doing my AFF atm, and getting through it pretty quickly. The way I approach each stage is once your in the air, you are jumping, even if you screw it up by missing p/p you are still jumping.. so take your time during your jump and go through everything step by step, as long as you maintain altiude awareness you will be fine. The jumps a designed for you to go through it all slowly, you do have time. Also, before you jump go through it over and over in your head, perfect every time - if you miss something keep going and go through it again perfectly.

I'm doing my AFF atm, doing stage 5 and 6 on Saturday. I've found it pretty smooth going so far. The important thing is not to rush, I'm always more relaxed and accurate in the air than on the dirt dives. At a guess I would say you are tensing up, maybe preparing for opening shock or something like that. A few other things, always look and SPOT before you reach, don't cheat, and when you reach be mindful of your right arm, your left is probably ok but when I was doing my dirt dives preparing for my first jump I found when I reached over to pull I would tuck my right arm into my body, but my instructor fixed that habit on the ground. I'm about the exact same level you are, so let me know if I can help at all.

My AFF instructor said he has taken his rig on as hand luggage a few times. He always tells the screener "If this is the only thing that makes it to my destination I will be happy" and has made it through everytime But things are probably a bit different here in australia

In the skies above Picton Sydney - my video

Nice video, good to see some familiar skies. I am doing my AFF at picton atm, did stages 2,3 and 4 on sunday. -
I did my Stage 1 AFF a few days ago. After feeling opening shock I looked up to see line twists, so I did what I was trained and reached up for the risers and started to kick. However as I reached for the risers I opened my hands and then realised and thought "Damn, just dropped the rip cord"

I did my Stage 1 AFF a few days ago, the canopy ride was great. Came down for landing, did a PLF - and was fine.
