  1. You don't want schools to be budgeted federally, because then the federal government has a say in how the school is run, how it's taught etc. They could pull something similar to what they puleld in the 70s or 80s or so, when some states (Nevada, Montana, etc) didn't have speed limits on their empty highways. The federal government stated that if they didn't set a speed limit of 55, and give out a certain number of tickets per month, the state would lose their federal highway funding. I definitely don't want the federal government mucking around with the school system. Let it be be locally managed ... On the other hand, no-strings-attached grants to poorer schools would be nice to have, but somehow, I doubt that a no-strings-attached grant would ever come from the feds. This ad space for sale.

  3. lottery's fine and all, as long as when buying the ticket, you don't expect to win. it's a crapshoot, as long as you realize your money is probably going down the drain, and you didn't need it, theres' no problem. This ad space for sale.
  4. I've doen a time exposure at night before for a few minutes where and the moon didn't move at all; it was very bright however. I'd probably guess this to be between 1-3 minutes, maybe even less, considering there's only one lightning strike, but that's just a guess; i'm no photographer, i just took a class on it.. 5. I don't see the lottery as for people bad with math. Yes, the odds are against you, but considering the risk is minimal risk and the great payout, it's really not that bad. Of course, those odds with bigger risks would be really stupid. On the other hand, I see any game at the casino where you play against the house as stupid. Yes, under certain circumstances and with the right knowledge and skill you can make money at blackjack, but unless you are that good, and have the bankroll of millions of dollars, it's not going to be worthwhile. Playing poker, on the other hand, is a completely different story. If you're good enough, you can consistently win since there you're playing against other people and the house only takes a rake. sorry .... didn't mean to hijack the thread .... 7. if you really want to go nuts, get an old beater and smash it into the side of the house, upside down. have a dummy splattering blood in the drivers seat, and for added effect, get another dummy pinned between the car and the house. This ad space for sale.

  9. That they could find... I agree... Iraq is a big damned country... That doesn't mean they don't or didn't exist. I believe "right before the war" they were simply driven out of the country. Prove me wrong... You know, I don't believe they were driven out right before the war. Prove me wrong. This ad space for sale.
  10. In an error message that should have never come up, I had it display to the user "The gnomes have landed. Run for your lives." .... Of course, somebody changed something, implemented a bug, and the message came up ... good thing in the code right next to it, it said "this should never happen." because they were wondering the hell that came from. 11. I see the Bible as a book to teach how to live by stories, metaphors, not a book of facts. Pretty much the same as any other religious book. I'll take science over faith any day. Especially when there's multiple books out there all explaining different ways life began. The only consistency between different religious books is that they teach morals, how to live, etc, using their own language, and the traditions of the area the book was written. I won't denounce something that's written in the bible, or any other book; however, I'm also not going to accept it as fact. Science can not explain the beginning of the universe, but neither can man, and the bible was written by man. it's all stories, it's all theories, nobody knows for sure .... so take whatever your belief and stick to it.... i do believe in reincarnation, it can't really be proven or disproven (at the moment) and it's simply a belief I have, but not so ignorant as to accept my belief as fact, or try to force that belief on others. Believing in Creationism is one thing, since we can't prove or disprove it; believing dinosaurs don't exist and they were put here to test our faith is absolutely ridiculously retarded. 13. Some people really are stupid and stubborn enough to denounce science based on what some book written a thousand years ago says. I have no problem with someone believing in god or being spiritual, but there's a difference in having faith and denouncing facts. This ad space for sale.
  14. I sell on Ebay. There's two reasons people do this: 1) Shipping isn't charged commission by Ebay, so reducing the price and charging more for shipping results in a lower commission, which eventually results in a lower price for the buyer. This goes against Ebay rules, but it's still done. 2) Shipping costs more than just the price of postage. The shipping material, packing, and even gas to go to the Post Office cost money. Some people print their own labels, in which case ink and epostage service fees cost money. Yes, often times they are slightly overcharged ($1-2), but if it's clearly listed, what's the problem? 15. I used to use just WinAmp for playing music, but now I use foobar2000. It's not the prettiest, but it's the nicest, with the most useful features. Best thing is, it can hold multiple playlists in different tabs, has an album/song browser/database. You can edit multiple files at the same time, and it's really small and fast. 16. I like to, sometimes, I do, sometimes I don't. I know what it's like to be stranded on the highway about 30 miles from home late in the afternoon (as the sun is setting) without any way to contact anybody ... not cool at all ... so i like to stop.... i don't mind picking up hitchhikers if they look like they're actually trying to go somewhere. The one's who stand at the side of the road with their thumb out obviously have nowhere to actually be. If someone is walking down the road like the actually have somewhere to go, it's a different story. This ad space for sale.

heh, you're not the only one ...... as much as i hate school, i like the atmosphere, and i like being in school .... however, as i began taking postgrad classes, i realized that as much as i enjoy school, i still hate going to school ..... i just like the people, i hate the classes, except for some classes and some people ... it's a vicious cycle. 23. That's different. I'm almost positive the one she's talking about is a social sorority. Service and honor fraternities are completely different. I shouldn't have said that all fraternities are socially-oriented, but the majority are. The one Daizey's referring to most likely is. They still do philanthropy and other services throughout the year but not to the extent APO. I agree. I don't list my fraternity on my resume. A social fraternity is just that: social. It might help you get a job, but by someone you know, not by what you did. This ad space for sale.
