  5. I seldom post....I was a newbie years back and still love to check in now and again. Hope no one minds this post, it's for a great cause :) I know that everybody and their brother is raising money for something, I am no exception. I don’t sell Girl Scout cookies, popcorn, candy or gift wrap but I do have a "cause". No offense taken if you choose to pass…but maybe take a lookie before you say no Please follow the link to my Team36 page. I am supporting the Dave Bolland Foundation to help kids and would appreciate any support. I am particularly excited about raising money for the Easter Seals Sledge Hockey (sled hockey) programs. It is currently one of the most popular sports in the Paralympic Games. BTW, you don’t need to be a Blackhawks fan…just want to help a great cause! Something else that is pretty cool...if (when) we hit the $600 mark I'm told I may have a Dave Bolland signed practive jersey to raffle off to my donors WAY COOL! http://grouprev.com/peggygrandahl?saved=1 But it’s a darn good one. Thanks, everyone _______________________________________
  6. I think the death sentence should be for the dumb ass owners who let the dog do it. _______________________________________
  7. Please "reach out to xxxx" if you need info. Reach out is a big one where. I work. Makes me crazy. Oh yeah, big one for our sales team: Let's get in "high, wide and deep" with our customers. That just sounds dirty. Thank God for the mute button on the phone for conference calls, lol. _______________________________________
  8. I have not posted in a while, but wanted tp share. Someone sent me this story in an email and it checks out in snopes.com....this is very touching and very amazing..... Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. She dictated and I wrote: Dear God, Will you please take special care of our dog, Abbey? She died yesterday and is in heaven. We miss her very much. We are happy that you let us have her as our dog even though she got sick. I hope that you will play with her.She liked to play with balls and swim before she got sick. I am sending some pictures of her so that when you see her in heaven you will know she is our special dog. But I really do miss her. Love, Meredith Claire P.S. Mommy wrote the words after Meredith told them to her. We put that in an envelope with two pictures of Abbey, and addressed it to God in Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith stuck some stamps on the front (because, as she said, it may take lots of stamps to get a letter all the way to heaven) and that afternoon I let her drop it into the letter box at the post office. For a few days, she would ask if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch. Curious, I went to look at it. It had a gold star card on the front and said "To Meredith" in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith took it in and opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers, "When a Pet Dies". Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God, in its opened envelope (which was marked Return to Sender: Insufficient address). On the opposite Page, one of the pictures of Abbey was taped under the words "For Meredith". We turned to the back cover, and there was the other picture of Abbey, and this handwritten note on pink paper: Dear Meredith, I know that you will be happy to know that Abbey arrived safely and soundly in Heaven! Having the pictures you sent to me was such a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. You know, Meredith, she isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me--just like she stays in your heart--young and running and playing. Abbey loved being your dog, you know. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets - so I can't keep your beautiful letter. I am sending it to you with the pictures so that you will have this book to keep and remember Abbey. One of my angels is taking care of this for me. I hope the little book helps. Thank you for the beautiful letter. Thank your mother for sending it. What a wonderful mother you have! I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I am in heaven but wherever there is love, I am there also. Love, God and the special angel who wrote this after God told her the words. As a parent and a pet lover, this is one of the kindest things that I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is some very kind soul working in the dead letter office. Just wanted to share this act of compassion. Blessings of love, peace, health & happiness _______________________________________

  13. My house is located in an older area also, we pretty much mind our own biz and people take care of their property, A friend of mine built a new home in one of these huge new subdivisions. They moved in and proudly put out one of those decorative flagpole with the stars and stripes. Next day they received a order from the committee that no flags were allowed, not even the US flag. My friend told them to fuck off, come and take it down if they had the balls. It made the local papers. Needless to say the flag is still there and the association turned their attention to annoying someone else. _______________________________________
  14. Well, I have not posted for awhile but had to add my two cents! John Groban - To Where You Are. I heard it right after my Mom died - when it is my time, it's the song I want played. Who can say for certain Maybe you’re still here I feel you all around me Your memories so clear Deep in the stillness I can hear you speak You’re still an inspiration Can it be (? ) That you are mine Forever love And you are watching over me from up above Fly me up to where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile to know you’re there A breath away’s not far To where you are Are you gently sleeping Here inside my dream And isn’t faith believing All power can’t be seen As my heart holds you Just one beat away I cherish all you gave me everyday ’cause you are mine Forever love Watching me from up above And I believe That angels breathe And that love will live on and never leave Fly me up To where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile To know you’re there A breath away’s not far To where you are I know you’re there A breath away’s not far To where you are Also, "Oh Holy Night" just sets me to tears. It is so what Christmas is about. _______________________________________
  15. So many people offered me condolences when I had to put my dog, Ed to sleep, I wanted to share our joy of our new pup. He is now 11 weeks, he is a Border Collie (the 5th one I have had - love 'em!) and his name is...are ya ready...Badger! The breeder had given him the nickname due to his markings and I had to keep it - it's perfect! He will be out at Skydive Chicago occasionally to visit. I am hoping to jump again at least once (for fun) before the end of summer. Had to add this too www.badgerbadgerbadger.com _______________________________________
