  1. Who's doing CRW at Perris these days? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  2. I got the motor at Alberoni"s (where I get all my sewing machine stuff), but, they're out here on the west coast. Just get rid of the motor mount/clutch assembly and your new motor should bolt right in. With the sloted mounting holes on new motors it should be a drop in fit. Keep us posted CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  3. Put some of them on wheels so you can move them out of the way when not in use. I got a brand new 1/2 hp clutch motor for around $100-$125 with warranty for my 17w15. I had the same clutch set up you have, the clutch motor eliminates that. I've got a BAD bearing in the motor of my 31-20. I figure by the time I disassemble, metal spray the shaft, bore and sleeve the housing to restore the bearing fits, I'll probably have 7 hours in it. Not worth it, I'll just buy a new motor. And I'm with Jerry, get rid of the cogged belt CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  4. Well top, at least he does what he's told to do. That's a promising sign CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  5. At least they didn't make you light your self on fire while you were under the small experimental canopy. Yea, ya sound like a wuss! Oh,Sharon if you read this, I'm on your side
  6. I've been asked by Mr. Oka to put on a Regional Judges Course at the Oka Cup if the interest is there. If any of the teams coming to the Cup are thinking about going to Nationals, it's a good idea to have at least one person on the team that has actually read the rules. If that person also knows how to present the point to the judges, your video debriefs will be much more informative. I'll work with all intrested to minimally cut into your jumping. The cost will be $10 for the course and $25 when you send your paper work to USPA. If you're intrested let me know. Oh, and before topdock chimes in about my judging ability, yes I am bringing my seeing eye dog CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  8. 6 total. One guy 3 times, does that still count as 6? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  9. Let's not forget his last design, the Browning Hi-Power (or GP if you will). And I'm thinkin' he had a hand in the design of the Colt "Potato Digger" CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  10. So I was wrong. I was discounting poorly maintained/designed equiptment and poor packing habits. I'm still not sold on the horseshoe, but, this is skydiving and "Murphy" is always lurking. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  11. I'm callin' total bullshit on this one! A pull out will minimize your chance of a horseshoe because you can place the pilot chute where you want it. The only way to have a pilot chute in tow is to not turn loose of the pilot chute. It's been a long time since I've read Bill's essay on why the throw out is better than the pull out, I didn't agree with it then and I doubt I'll agree with it now. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  12. I say this is an interesting question. Pulling "A" line only, allows for easier/longer-down pull. Still, it's not so common (according to videos available) vs. pulling front riser with "A+B" lines - which must and is harder to pull. In a matter of possible collapsing the canopy, I'd say that riser pull is safer. I Did use line pulling only but never to the extreme, therefor wasn't scared of canopy collapse. Can't wait to read some experienced guys replies. Big dislaimer here. Don't try this under your hard deck! You WILL lose a lot of altitude very quickly! Grab your outermost line on your front riser, pull down until you get scared, then pull it down some more (I've had it down to my waist)
  13. IMO as it should be. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  14. I use Pete's line sets for all my customer's re-lines. Top quality, great customer service. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  15. VectorBoy speaks the truth. The rigger in question who did the work and I have been bartering work for years, so I have no idea what he charged VB. It's a lot of work to install a retract system, lot of stitches to be ripped, then a lot of double needle work (different gauges). Basicly a pain in the ass, that's why I didn't do it myself. I did put a factory style (PD) tail pocket on, which involves, ripping out the tail and part if the center rib, Then add a reinforcement patch, sew the rib back up, add the tail pocket, then sew the tail back up. See where I'm going with this? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

    NB-6/8

In a NB-8 yes. In a NB-6 no. Even in my younger days I don't think I could have done it....I would have tried tho CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  17. For stacks/rotations you don't need 2 to 1's. Riser blocks, yes. Retract P/C mod $350 Dacron lines $225 Line install $75 Factory type tail pocket $180 Total $830 For a canopy that's not CRW compatable. That's 2/3 of the way to a brand new Lightning! Think of what you could do with that money with a used Spectre/Tri.... Just my thoughts CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  18. I use a 26" z-p for my Lightning 160. The CF Storm 170 that I've been jumping has a 28" F-111. The 170 is in a bag and is a throw out. Scary shit that one. If you can't find a P/C PM me. Have you changed to a pull out yet? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  19. In my opinion a pull out is the way to go. Freefall or CRW. If your rig isn't set up for a pull out, I can show you a couple ways to make a B.O.C pull out. I won't do freefall with it, but, it works great for CRW. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  20. QuoteAccording to the 269W26 manual, you can go up to 5/8" long. End start and stop. If you put the 269W11 cam in it it will do 42, 7/8". Don't know if it will still be end start/stop, but, Roy at Alberonie will know. Oh, if you decide to throw it in the scrap yard, thow it in mine
  21. So, have a hand deploy reserve do ya? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  22. Send it to Alberonie's in Anaheim. Tell him what you want, complete rebuild, clean and replace parts.... He's the man CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  23. I'm of this mind set also CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  24. I don't think so. In Europe and the former U.S.S.R. many still use free sleeves in their ejection seats. If I recall correctly, Hank Achuitto and Ted Strong were the first to put diapers on round reserves in the late 70's. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
