  1. Exactly. Parts 91 and 105 tell you what is included, but, not what is excluded. I have packed French made chest mount with a free sleeve. It was about the size of a Navy Q.A.C. I've also packed French and Russian seat packs with free sleeves and, if memory serves me right, they are cotton. I'll double check. As for a sleeve in a T-7 type, I think I'll pass CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  2. What if the free sleeve is made of silk, pongee or other natural fiber? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  3. On the other coast there's always Elsinore. We have a couple #120ish type females that jump with us, so, weights/canopies should be no problem CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  4. Since I'm Chief Judge, make sure I get the dive pool in Braille. My dog barking once for point and twice for bust scares the goats CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  5. Why on earth would you want to do that? The inverted T cut out is for drive (the center gore) and steering (the small turn windows). Cover those up with mesh and you'll find (just like we did in Taft in the early '70's) that you loose about 50 percent of your performance. Think about it, make "holes" to let air out then cover them back up???? Just my thoughts. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  6. How so? I have a couple hundred CRW jumps with a rig that has B-12's. Never a problem. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  7. If I pack using the tailpocket do I need a deployment bag? If I don't use a deployment bag, what collapses the pilot chute? One last question: how come I've been working for 42 years and I'm still broke? CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  8. Yea Larry, that was Yolo's Beech. We had just jumped from Spike's Beech (that we had flown up fom Taft), built a 10 man and looked down, to see a Beech buzz the runway. I remember thinking that Spike sure got down quick when there was a cloud of dust caused by the Beech spinning on the runway. About that time we were about 2000' so we broke off and tracked away. A couple of us landed near the carcass only to see a couple passengers (girls) get out laughing and giggling. One turned to the pilot and said "That was fun! Can we do it again?" After that Norm bought me my 21st birthday present there......he is a true friend! CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  9. Yup. In my opinion, pulling in clean air is more important than pulling as fast as you can. Especially when jumping a CASA or Skyvan when you need to take a delay to get out of the twin prop wash. If that half second is that important, you should have made another dirt dive or two. Reserves

Let's see, 24' flat, pretty rough 26' navy conical with inverted T, nice. Stood up all those. 26' Security Lo-Po, sweet! Raven III loaded at about 1:1.04, kinda slugish (it's a reserve, that's OK) Raven I loaded about 1:1.15, not bad. Would have been better if I'd had both arms working CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  11. Try the half shell Benny. Our team tried them this week end, like wearing nothing at all. See them at http://skysystemsusa.com/helmets/benny.php CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  12. It's an old Ghost Rider (a CRW team from Perris) rig. Maybe call Sandy Reid (Rigging Innovators) and ask him. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  13. Sorry but I have to disagree. I've been in those formations when they went bad fast. Anytime you play with someone elses canopy, know the conquences and how to deal with them. Listen to Chuck. He's giving good info, all you have to do is listen. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  14. I witnessed one of my repacks dumped that was roughly 900 days old, sub terminal, and it worked just fine. I don't do anything different for 120 or 180. If it ain't right I don't sign the card. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  15. Of course! What's a little wrap between team mates CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  16. I'm going with Art on the left and Lorrie on the right CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  17. Well said Bob CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  18. Sorry to hear that. I knew Ralph from Taft in the early-mid 70's. His was the first (and only) camera helmet I ever jumped. He wanted a film of him and a friend (female) doing a 2 way. I started climbing out to hang off the strut with about 200lbs of batteries and a 30lb camera on my head, and I looked at him and asked "Do I want to do this", he just grinned and said "I'll be fine". Off we went. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  19. Yea they do. The Singer 31-20 that I use daily was made in 1910. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  20. Jimmy Tyler. Yea, Dar started jumping at Taft, if memory serves Carl Staib trained him. Dar did his 5 static lines and up to 30 sec delays in one week end. He was a good guy, always had fun partying with him. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  21. Wow, Lollipop handle on a chest mount. That's ballsey! Had one for my main in the 70's Blast handle for the reserve 'cause it was bigger CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  22. QuoteThis thread is reviving brain cells that are probably better left dead, but, here goes. The slider I built for a Plane way back was the same size as the one I made for my StratoStar. The size of that one was, whatever I measured with a tailors tape at the top of the risers, front to back, side to side, then added a "little bit" (I didn't know any better. The factory slider was about 6 months away) the words "should work" come to mind. Unfortunately, the risers on my Strat were only 14" long with the lines sewn into them, The Plane had standard 30-36" (?) risers. something to think about. I did remove the heat shrink, the slider will get hung up at the cascades, less bulk to pump the slider over. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  23. Actually, Bob, the NEW tail pockets are quite low bulk. Gone is the super duper way over kill internal re-inforcement and double layer parapack. The new ones are more like what one would find on a BASE rig. And they finally put velcro at the bottom! CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  24. The standard tape on the nose is strong enough, and the wide tape degrades performance. The cotton panels (buffers) on the top skin also degrade performance, tho not as bad as the wide tape. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
