  1. 2) The pin's only 18" from the handle so you pull your own pin, (hopefully solving my hesitation problems). Quote Depends how long your arms are, mine's only 14" 3) Because the handle's attached to the PC itself, just like a throw out, there's no more chance of the PC ending up in your burble than with a throw out, (good as I jump camera wings sometimes). Quote The handle is not attached to anything. It floates inside the P/C. When you pack it you place the handle at the bottom of the P/C, stuff it in the BOC pouch and leave a little bridle and the P/C attachment point sticking out. Not a good idea for FF. But that's just my opinion. Anyone see any reason why it can't be made as a collapsable PC? Quote Yes, because the bottom is sewn closed, no place for the kill line to go. It's built that way to allow it to go through the kill cone easier. You could re-engineer it and leave the bottom open, add a loop at the top, etc. for a kill line. Or, you could take the time that it would take to do that and instead find out what is causing the problems you are currently having. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  2. Welcome Tash, Yea, you have to drop the toggles to take a dock. And when you take a dock use more than just a finger and thumb to grab the canopy you won't hurt it. A new world is opening for you, congratulations! CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  3. Hey Jerry, I got mine at Home Depot. I think they call them "eletrican sissors". Cost about $6. Mine are made by Heritage and are 5 1/4" OAL. One blade is serrated and the other is smooth, and yea, they cut free hanging spectra like a hot knife thru butter. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  4. Whoa, I was coming back from Lake Wales last nite and that guy was on my flight. He dresses kinda.... well, kinda different CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  7. The H/C shown appears to be a B-12, far too large for a 26' LoPo. You'll need a NB-6 with an A-3 pilot chute. Then find a master rigger to sew some D rings on the front, a chest mount reserve (without a pilot chute) and you'll be stylin'....just like the '60's CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  8. What kind of deployment is Reuter-wrap? Frap-strap? Tail pocket?*** Don't know about a Reuter-wrap, but, I would say the other 2 are line first deployment as the slider is stowed until the locking stow is released. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  14. I'm not even sure if the show had a second season or went to color TV - the episodes I have are b&w, with predictably grainy image and poor sound quality. They're also followed up by a short interview with Lyle Cameron Sr., who enthuses about how skydiving is really catching on and that he has hhopes for it to become as big a sport as skin diving.*** Yea, the show did go a second season. I have some from the first season and some from the second, including one that was in color. That one is also in b&w, not sure which one was shown on TV tho. That interview with Lyle Sr. is only part of a much longer interview with out takes, ect., according to Jr. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  16. My first CRW jump was with my little brother (he had just come back from the world meet in Finland) my full safety breifing consisted of "fly a straight line. Oh, and don't die!" I wore him out, but, he did dock me. The next time we did CRW, he brought down a couple Express'. I asked him about landing 'em and he said "don't try to stand it up". He then hooked me up with Ken Oka (a former team mate of his) and I have haven't looked back since. Is it the people, or the "taboo" of touching other peoples canopies? I think it's both. I have never met better people than CRW Dawgs, and I can't think of anything that feels better than soft nylon. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  17. PERRIS CRAZY CRW 2006 Weather: Morning fog, Afternoon sunny and breezy----Nice…. Participants: 21 total jumpers: Breakdown of the demographics: 6-new/novice, 12-experienced, 3-camera, 7-riggers States: MN, AZ, Germany, S.& N. CA; Incidents: a broken wrist on landing, 2 cutaways, one lost freebag and a real good time. This Crazy CRW weekend had a little bit for everyone, 1st timers to old CRWdogs. Both days started with a circle-up and review the general CRW rules for the weekend, hard deck for docks, breakoff altitudes, landing patterns, etc. While the newbies were in the CRW classroom, the experienced dogs paired up with low timers and the remaining group of experienced dogs had dives that were challenging and allowed them to try new slots. Wanting to keep CRW in the forefront in the skydiving community, we handed out USPA 4/8 stack applications and ask the CRWdogs to submit them. Sat: Pleasant day, everybody had a good day of jumping. The novice people gain a lot from the one-on-one. The availability of video was a great help in the dive debriefs. There were no wraps. We were excited about tomorrow. Sun: Well the excitement got more exciting. Cutaway-1; First jump of the morning, the jumpers got behind the formation and Ken O as the pilot tried to sashay with Eric G in a stairstep to help them catch up……the wing came around …..Ka-chink. Chase the freebag. Injury: On a separate dive, Dan’l L. broke his wrist on landing. He wants to thank everybody for the help in getting his gear packed up. He will be out for 6-8 weeks. Cutaway-2; Mark T, at 15 CRW jumps, was making steady progress on each dive. He finally made a very timely dock on the tail of the diamond. But at the same time the third row wing accordioned and came around. The resulting wrap left Mark with the cutaway main entangled around his foot. He used his hook knife to cut his shoe and line free. Both the shoe and main were recovered. Way to go Mark for keeping your cool!!! The Crazy CRW participants organized groups to search for the freebag, but were unable to find it. One of the final dives of the weekend was a 5-way wedge with Chis P, his’ 1st weekend of CRW and his 1st wing. We were able to talk Dan BC into joining us on the dive. He only has “22 skydives” (22,000) and is not a stranger to CRW. But this jump turned out to be his first offset formation and first wing docks. “He does know how to fly a canopy and he is very quick to pickup on the instructions.” The fact that Dan was jumping with us did stir up more CRW interest from other freefallers. The day was capped off with Yulia’s 100 CRW jump, a 4-way at sunset. See you next year at Crazy Crw Ken…..Caress some nylon CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  18. I'm with namgrunt, I wouldn't trade any of my Garands for a case of mini-14's. Learn how to use it and you won't need more than 8 rounds. If I do need more than that, there's always the BM-59 to fall back on. The M1A, another excellent choice. I wouldn't trade that either. Sorry, off topic. The best Mini-30 mags I found were made by USA Magazines. I test fired quite a few and they worked flawlessly. It was a clean (their shop) environment tho. Not sure how they would work in the field. Just my 2cents CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  19. I mostly wear low tops. But I am learning that when piloting hi tops are the way to go. After I lost my first shoe, I went to the "Red Dot Boutique" and bought 4 pair of shoes all the same. I think I still have 3 1/2 pair. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  21. Yes, we will have rentals available. We'll be asking for $20 a day rental to help cover shipping to/from PD. If it's someone's personal canopy the $20 covers usage and such. We usually have plenty of hook knives (NOT the cheesy little orange ones), pilot chutes, kill cones to use if you need. CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58
  22. OOPS, forgot to put that in there. It's cheaper to fly into LAX (about 2 hr. drive) Closer is John Wayne (about 1.5 hr.) Ontario is closest (about 45 min.) Drive times do change depending on time of day Hope to see ya there CRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #58

  24. You haven't been included on many drop test progams have you? In the "real world" Stuff like this happens all the time. That's how the "industry" works stuff out. What you are currently using is a DIRECT result of the drop testing done within that industry. Basic physics (in the real world) will hold true and theoretical science is still the underlying foundation to what happens during deploment, but in "real world " situations things become a little bit messier. In this realm nothing is going to be "text book" That's how it is, like it or not! Get used to it. __________________________________________________ Sparky, Mick Obviously these guys have never had to cutaway an "experimental" only to hear (after landing) " But it worked on paper!".
