  1. for my wife and I it's a toss-up between canopies and the wind tunnel. Canopies and the tunnel both offer the best long term bang for the buck. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  2. We have 2 close by in my area, but if there is time, I prefer driving over an hour to get to Cleveland Parachute in Parkman, Ohio "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  3. I believe Tori was the last child protege' on the piano. What a talent1 I would do a duet with her! "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  4. That's why you should go to Good Will and get a apir of used bowling shoes for $2.00 (or forget to turn them at the bowling alley. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  5. I am a big fad of Tad's Sportsware suits from Australia. BUT I think I'll order one from Kurupee. the fabric styles are excellent! "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  6. Check out Mike Swain's book "The Endless Fall". A chuteless jump is documented and a video is available. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  7. I believe the GQ was a United Kingdom canopy of military issue. GQ made reserves and mainsfor all sorts of military applications. They were a conical canopy. The mains were designed for low altitude hop & pops. I really don't think it's worth much more than a car cover. Rigger Rob is the guy to ask... "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" 8. You might want to do a safety day auction. It's a great way to get rid of the extra junk. Use a % of the take to help the local rescue squad or keep the DZO out of bankruptcy. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish

    leg straps

I have a Jav with the similar problem. The straps loosten up when I sit-fly. Rubber bands around the strap up tight against the buckle work well. But the fact that your's is loostening under canopy is more of a concern. Don't screw around with it. Have a rigger check and replace whats necessary ASAP. Your control under canopy is compromised and it puts you at risk.
  10. I really don't think there is much advantage of the freefly handle over the hacky as far as being freefly friendly. There might be an advantage of the handle in reducing exit door snags...but is it significant?? The triple risers are a pain to pack. I had them on one of my canopies and really didn't notice a difference. This forum has discussed triples many times, do a search and see. I believe concensus was that they made a difference only at higher loadings.

    cow shit

Ahhh.., I love the smell of pig and cow shit in the morning. You have never smelled anything like AerOhio after the farmers spread the liquified crap. Stinkiest DZ in the country (somedays). "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  12. I have jumped 40 year-old canopies with even older containers. It's really surprising how structurally sound these old dinosaus can be. A canopy that has been well cared for can have quite a long life. Just have a a rigger familiar with the gear check it out! Nastalgia is cool. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" 13. I think just about everyone has experienced sensory-overload as a newbie. It's just part of getting used to thinking at 100+ mph. Reherse everything on the ground, meditate in the plane ride to altitude. Practice and know your gear checks and emergency procedures, breath deep and most importantly don't forget to savor the jump and have fun. I wish you the best, you're in the most exciting sport on earth!
  14. I picked up a used pair of bowling shoes. They are incredible in the way you can slide across the ground! Smooth!! Get a pair for better surfs!
  15. Sounds like you should consider taking Wellbutrin. Depression can be a devastating illness that affects individuals and those who share their lives. Fortunately, antidepressant medications can help relieve depression for most people. WELLBUTRIN SR is clinically proven to effectively treat depression with a low risk of sexual side effects. Jump and jump happy, free from depression. Remember Wellbutrin... "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  16. I jump and go home. The party after jumping is usually counter productive and adolescent. I must confess I get sick and tired of hearing every other work used being "*uck" and the lewd activities. Our daughter of 8 years loves to see us jump, but I have to limit her exposure to the people at the DZ. After reading about people who recently were injured or bounced loaded with ectasy, cocaine, pot and alcohol, I really think the members of our sport need to re-evaluate their focus. Drugs and alcohol and going headdown really don't mix well. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  17. Sounds you are dropping a hip on opening. The Hornet can be steered through the opening to prevent a turn. Look up and watch the opening. If there is a turn in one direction, shift in the harness in the opposite direction buy pressuring down on a hip. You will be suprised how well the technique works! "Slow down! Watch TV much?

I stopped watching TV about 14 years ago. It's just bubblegum for the brain and Alzheimers Syndrome is more prevelent in Vidiots. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  19. Nukem' till they glow. Kick their ass and take their gas! "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  20. Get a medium sized sponge and pack it into a small baby food jar. Fill the jar with hot bacon grease and place in the ice box to solidify. Once solid, break the glass and toss the grease imbedded sponge to the mut. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  21. I heard that Larsen & Brusgaard has a full face helmet in development with GPS and Pro Dytter data presented in a heads-up display on the visor. How cool could it get>? "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  22. Load the Heatwave at 1.2+ and it is a great canopy. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  23. I like a big reserve too. I jump a 108 with a 150 reserve. And sorry to say, the best container to accomodate the combo was a Mirage G3. You might want to give Mirage a second look. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
  24. I don't like this canopy. I'm not a CREW Dog but purchased the thing in hope to take up the sport. It's an antiquated design that is slow to respond to input. Absolutly the worst canopy I've ever landed, the flair is very weak. I would suggest anyone interested in this canopy try other ones before selecting an Interceptor. I can't imagine PA is selling very many of these.

    Slinks?

I never had a problem with slinks. I have used PD's and PA's ready made ones and used homemade ones made by a rigger long ago. I did have a rapide link fail once. They are actually stronger than the metal rapide links (so I've heard) and they are slider friendly. "Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
