  1. I just filed my extension, which you can do by touch-tone from your telephone.
  2. My business parter fasted on a couple of different occasions, but I think he was still consuming fruit juice. I think he did a 5 day and a 7 day. His usual weight is about 140, 5'6", so he doesn't carry a lot to live off of.
  3. Billvon hasn't been jumping that long. Jump prices to 12,500 in 1978 were $8 at Pope Valley (had been $9, but dropped when Dause took over). That would be about like $26-30 today, roughly based on starting engineer salaries and Avgas prices.
  4. We used to, at least if we were jumping with the tandem. I think we still do, but at $100 for a tandem, I'd rather just pay for my jump.
  5. For some aircraft cost comparisons, check out Ray's site at http://www.utilityaircraft.com/costcomparisons.html Put in your own figures, or use theirs. Nothing regarding tandems is in their estimate. At our local DZ, we pay $15 walkup, $13 block, to 13 grand in Beech 90 or Otters. 8000 feet is $10 single ticket. Tandems are $100, Video for tandems is $35, sodas are 50 cents, and Starbuck cold drinks are cheaper than I can buy them at the grocery store. We're kinda in a time warp.
  6. Earth tones were supplanted by neons, which have (literally) faded away. Tie-dye for rigs has been popular for a while now. How long until tie-dye is "out?" What's the next trend?
  7. Last time I looked, I had well over twenty skydives. I know this post is in reference to the JFTC calendar. I guess the poster doesn't realize that in order for a *gal* to be on the JFTC event, she has to have well over twenty skydives. Last time I looked, this didn't say anything about having twenty jumps. Try another read.
  8. Fixed rate loans are still common here in the US; they don't come up for renewal.
  9. Either the one where we went up and did RW from the early 70's, i.e. round-backloop-round, or maybe this one in the photo
  10. I see meaning two as being the meaning that was warped for skydiving. The canopy is whining around, then finally opens. Used to be a "bad thing." Now considered a "good thing" as it implies a softer opening.
  11. Then let's teach more children to talk dirty.
  12. A biff is a punch, like in boxing. Those of us old enough to have seen the Batman shows on television 35 or so years ago saw this word superimposed over fight scenes. Like "snivel" the word has taken on a somewhat different meaning in the skydiving realm.
  13. Is the runway on the farm, or is it a shuttle?
  14. If there had already been 5 on the load, including the DZO, when you walked up, and you added as number 6, would the plane have gone with only 5 paying? If not, then you shouldn't get your ticket back. If so, maybe you should.
  15. There are reasonbly good deals on Xaos 88 and 98, and a 93 27, under the classifieds.
  16. I asked him to break dance. He did the moonwalk, which I guess is close enough.
  17. My ex-wife, when she wasn't my ex, used to do some work for me. She bought that book, "how to work for a jerk" but it didn't help much.
  18. Yeah, but he can rub his belly while patting his head.' I also asked him to vacuum the carpet, and he did a reasonable job.
  19. I asked the chicken to read me a story. It went to the bookcase and flipped through a book.
  20. Yep, you do. Even when you were benched on a big way for momentary lapses, you never lost an opportunity to spew knowledge regarding skydiving technique, equipment, and the mental incompetencies of the organizer.
  21. Maybe they don't have the 150 for your friend, but I just shipped back a Samurai 105 3 days ago, after having it to demo for two weekends. They may just not have one right now, and not be in the mood to build/pay for another 150 for demo purposes. Like PD, they take a credit card for the value of the canopy when they ship you a demo, but that doesn't help if someone steals the canopy under other circumstances.
