I have no problem with maintenance coupled with performance. The turbo concerns are part of my debate. I am a touch cautious to buy a used one. Even in 15K miles, you can do damage. From what I hear this seems to be the consensus : the 1.8T provides more 'zip' stock. The VR6 has a fuller power band, and more potential....with large money. But I don't want to void the warranty. I am debating a purchase decision between: 05 GLI for invoice (around 22,600) 03 GLI VR6 for 17,9 - 20K miles 20th AE GTI for 21,500 - 15K miles What would you get and why? I guess my curiousity centers mainly around the engine. Until this morning was looking at 20AE for sure, then I found the GLIs. It seems like there is a buttload of support and aftermarket for the 1.8T. Yet the VR6 is not a bad engine. However, they did make the choice to go turbo in 04.
