  1. On the face of it if you are looking for an accident policy the Finch Extreme policy looks cheaper at £60 per year. I'd always suggest looking a proper critical illness and life insurance policy though because it will cover you for a much wider range of accidents and outcomes but at a much higher price.
  2. Technically I guess he was correct because it wasn't a single nation doing the invading it was a 'coalition of the willing' which had UN backing. Besides when America decides to do the invading it must have been the correct action right!
  3. An RC model club flies their planes at the end of one of our runways so if you open up deep it can be a bit of a surreal experience heading back to the LZ with little planes flying around you. Mind you they have also been known to overfly the dz particularly when they are flying some of their model jets.
  4. Empuria is nice, but would not make my list. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Pitt Meadows, BC; Victoria BC; and Skydive Oregon all come in ahead of some of those locations. I don't have the benefit of going to any of those places but a quick search on the internet definitely backs up your point.
  5. It was a nice article and I guess that whilst they couldn't cover more locations it was a shame that they missed Empuria from the list.
  6. Langar near Nottingham will be your closest DZ. Its an old WW2 Lancaster bomber base and is now one of the busiest UK DZ's. It normally has 2 Grand Caravans and jump tickets are £20. Public transport is pretty poor so you'll need a life but if you pm me nearer the time I may be able to help you out a bit as I live in Leicester and can take a detour to East Leake on my way to Langar. Skydive Airkix near Peterborough is next closest. http://www.bpa.org.uk/dropzone/dzone.htm for more details of Uk dz's. You'll also need temporary BPA membership but you should be able to find infor from the same link. Lastly check out http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/ for UK gossip.
  7. Alright matey there's no need to be rude when I was just making a general point. I wouldn't say that it was holier than though bullshit. I just pointed out that the government ultimately has responsibility for legislation. If it can see something is wrong with the market it has an obligation to act. Ninja mortgages are not un heard here despite FSA oversight but with little or no control as in the US they were far more widespread and gave rise to rampant house price inflation and now an equally large drop in prices. The UK doesn't have a perfect record in this area but currently no one but the most pessimistic pundits are predicting a crash on the size of that in America and that in part is due to the tight mortgage rules we have here. There are plenty of other factors such as an under supply of new housing and nett immigration which has kept the rental buy to let market strong as well.
  8. No one forced anyone to buy these houses but the government does control the regulation of the mortgages which were used to buy them. Weak regulation led to mortgage companies/advisors lending to the maximum of their ability rather than in the customer's best interests. In the UK the government strengthened the Financial Services Authority which then enforced stronger rules on how mortgages are sold. I would therefore say that the US government by not enforcing or creating a suitable regulatory framework is therefore to blame for the meltdown in the US housing market. Having a free market is a great thing but when it is abused with the protaganists being unwilling to do anything about it then the government has an obligation to step in. I've just seen this on the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7522160.stm inparticular this part The bill would set up the first national licensing system for mortgage brokers and other loan officers.
  9. Depending on what your source is Karadzic was working as a doctor, psychiatrist or some other alternative pracitioner so what is Mladic post civil war career...florist, window cleaner or male escort?
  10. And it makes him look like a slim version of John Goodman.
  11. From what I read from all the old timers on this here website most oil in Dakotas ends up coming out of the exhaust and getting deposited on jump suits! As a result I recommend rounding up as many old jump suits as can be found, wringing them out and refining the residue back into usuable petrol (sorry gasoline for you colonials
  12. LOL...Enough already, you sounded like a cross between an old jewish grandpa and top cat! You summed up about 1000 DZ.com threads in 10 minutes.
  13. Try a Freezr? They used to come in two shell sizes with four different choices of lining so perhaps you could mix and match to get a comfortable fit?
  14. So in Baker's parallel universe Neville Chamberlain didn't exist and it was Churchill who invaded Germany?
  15. The CCI from the Langar DZ in the UK used time in Bodyflight to get back into the air. He had a shoulder rather than back injury but without tunnel time he probably would not have got back in the air.
  16. Try asking on http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk The incident has been on British TV again recently and has been discussed on the forum.
  17. I wasn't making a point about Chinese defence spending being anything in relation to the USA, instead I was just filling in a little bit of background info about their increasing spend
  18. Ok define ''entire world's military budget'' The total military expenditures of the nations of the world seems a reasonable definition, don't you think? See attachment for a breakdown. That may be, but China get's more bang for the buck...er slavery... That's just "Standing Army". That does not include air, naval or marine forces. Edit to add navy... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7276277.stm China to increase defence spending by 18%.

  20. Good luck with this initiative. The BPA successfully tried it this year with turn out almost doubling, albeit from a low start point.
  21. There are a load more British Pathe newsreals on the skydiving movies website. They span from about 1910 right up to the 1960's.
  22. What do you think now that this has been announced? Skydive Sibson re-launches as Skydive Airkix Written by UKSkydiver UKS Exclusive! Skydive Sibson is now know as Skydive Airkix. The name change comes along with major plans for the DZ. Dave Turner will manage the business, while Airkix will bring in renowned coaches, planning to work between the DZ and the Airkix wind tunnel and also a new AFF scheme for students. Following the 2006 fire, the team are building a a brand new, purpose-built bar, restaurant and clubroom, offering food, drinks and of course a fully stocked bar. On the aircraft front Skydive Airkix will now sport a permanent, overhauled Let 410, but the best thing surely is the fact that altitude rides will cost skydivers only £15! A very novel aspect of this change is that the DZ is offering jumpers the chance to aid the environment by joining an optional carbon ofsetting scheme. By adding a voluntary £2 to each jump ticket, Skydive Airkix will pay into a recognised established offset programme, perhaps aleviating fears that the government will target the skydiving industry next! New name; Skydive Airkix New partners; Dave Turner, the Meacock family, Airkix Best regular skydiver prices; £15 to altitude Permanent LET 410 turbine aircraft New coaching programmes Cross benefits between wind tunnel and drop zone New AFF programmes New Clubhouse, bar, restaurant Free WiFi First UK Carbon Offset programme on a DZ
