  1. As much as I've read about file codec & 'file containers'....I still don't get it. If I wanted to render an edited file from a gopro (an MP4), what output settings would I use with vegas movie studio HD platinum 11. There's way too many options for me to grasp. I also have pinnacle and can render it right back to an MP4 no problem. I'd rather use the vegas since the pinnacle is very twitchy. Any help? my pics & stuff!
  2. Agreed, you need the 'all the above' button. my pics & stuff!
  3. really? How's that possible. So it's back to 'it must be the suit....not my skills'. I jumped that way for a LONG ass time. I think you're wrong there. The bottom line is, if you have the money and it's not an issue, buy whatever you want. The reality is this though, you'll most likely STILL end up getting another suit that more suits your needs/flying/weight....bla bla bla. I wish I had the money to throw away. And remember, there a lot of used suits out there. Once you're done with a suit doesn't mean it will sit in the garage and never get used again....pass that thing on. Sell it (or since money is no issue, give it away). my pics & stuff!
  4. it's actually pretty easy. Get into the user menu to where it says off. Then hold down (i think) the top button through the countdown. I turn mine off when getting in the car for the drive home or if travelling the same day. Otherwise I just let it turn off by itself. PM me if your still having issues. my pics & stuff!
  5. I have a Brother TZ1-B652, the manual says to run the thread thru the bobbin 'eye' when doing a zig-zag....and not to when running a straight stitch. I've tried it both ways with straight & zig-zag but don't notice any difference. More so....why? Anyone know about this and it's purpose? my pics & stuff!
  6. Or another thought (and it's much easier on the back) is flying on your back. No need to arch and you can always get the students face in the shot. I use a camera jacket w/ fairly big wings....and I'm not a fatty. I learned by chasing tandems w/ a sweatshirt that had wings on it. my pics & stuff!
  7. Yes, got one on the glasses when landing. Glad it hit there, it was messy. my pics & stuff!
  8. a lot of times they get what is recommended to them, so perhaps instead of laughing at then you could guide them. Totally agree. But remember there's a lot of jumpers out there that already know it all and don't ask (so yes, lets laugh at them). But Yes, guiding is needed more in the sport as is listening. To the OP, I recommend you get something used/cheap...whatever and work with that until you really know what you want & need. I see it all the time where jumpers just get what they think looks good...and that's all fine and dandy until you realize you can't fly it and it's really holding you back. Baby steps.....you will get there but you need to hit the steps between start and 'farther down the line'. my pics & stuff!
  9. to say the suit makes you better freeflier or 'is the suit if your freeflier' is silly. You make the freeflier...NOT the friggin suit. I've been jumping a worn out hand me down for the past few years and would like to consider myself a freeflier. I wouldn't waste a lot of money on something super fancy until you get good enough to know what you need. Otherwise, you're gonna look like 'that guy' that has matching everything but just sucks. My suggestion is look for something used on here and work with that until you really get an idea of how much drag you want, where you want spandex, where you want cordura...bla bla bla. my pics & stuff!
  10. Here's couple of night jump shots w/ a huge ass moon. my pics & stuff!
  11. Bummer to hear. Just a thought...that photo has toggle D in the background....both gone. my pics & stuff!
  12. Watched a gal in the bigway head down camps have hers pop open. Not all the way...maybe half. Seemed pretty odd for it to open in that orientation...so I know you're not the only one. Sorry, that's all I have. my pics & stuff!
  13. I can't remember the accident in general. It happened 7-8 years ago I think...and I remember reading about the video of him trying to get the glove off. The video wasn't made public that I know of. It's always stuck with me. Nothing like being trapped in a moment of holy fuck. my pics & stuff!
  14. Pretty sure those spots are nasties on your sensor. They tend to show up more when the F-stop is at a higher number (or smaller aperature...opening). my pics & stuff!
  15. How's the humidity? Is it high where you're at? I would say the first problem is that it's a nikon! Just kidding...that's all I had. my pics & stuff!
  16. Yikes, just remembered the biggest deal w/ the larks head I had and it happened twice. While reaching down to unclip my wings and bringing my left arm backup, the larks head caught on the excess hard cable for the reserve ripcord hanging out and cinched down on it. PANIC TIME!!!! I was able to loosen it and free my arm. It's robotic now that I tuck the swoop cords in my sleeves once removed from my digits even though they are sewn and not larks headed anymore. This was probably ten years ago....sketchy!!! As for wearing under gloves?.....that scares me just as much. There was a fatality several years back and the guys video showed him trying to frantically get his gloves off to remove the swoop cord. my pics & stuff!
  17. I've had the larks head style and the sewn style and prefer it NOT to tighten around my digits. So on the suit that wasn't fixed, I sewed them in place. Made them big enough to get the 2 digits through it comfortably and that's about it. my pics & stuff!
  18. The clip that was at the end of one of the freefly clowns video? Chronicles I think. my pics & stuff!
  19. -1 for vertical suits. The pants I got from him were over 3" short...big time high waters. When I called him, he said it would be 50 bucks/hour to fix them. How do you like that customer service. my pics & stuff!
  20. agreed with what everyone's said. Take into account where it's been jumped most of it's life. My container has 3500 jumps on it and is in great shape. But I jump mostly in the northwest and take very good care of my gear. my pics & stuff!
  21. I think the biggest problem holding jumpers back from jumping at night is poor night vision. In reality, when would someone all of a sudden be stuck jumping at night? You mention water landings....yet it's not a requirement. My suggestion is do away with the night jump (which I think are fun by the way) and make a down wind landing a requirement. That's something you'll end up having to do eventually. my pics & stuff!
  22. Can this be used on any version of Vegas? my pics & stuff!
  23. I would have to say the stiletto since it's been around a LOT longer than the velocity. Your data is missing a good 10+ years. my pics & stuff!
