  1. no, hes in a cast, in the room directly above them. MB 3528, RB 1182
  2. I got an even better one... you shoot em outta a catapault. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/catapult.php WARNING: this game contains images of a lot of cats getting smushed real good. MB 3528, RB 1182
  3. I've taken one of them disposable ones up a few times, but only took pictures under canopy. You can actually get some good pictures out of them if the light is good. Most of the time it works well, but I dropped one once... right into an explosives testing ground, so I figured I wasn't getting that one back. I want to try it in freefall, and somebody suggested to me that should I tape it to my left glove, so that its impossible that it can fall off, and it will stay outta the way during opening. MB 3528, RB 1182
  4. I think you may be thinking of a reserve ripcord pull chant. On a normal student rig, you can't normally see the PRCP handle, unless you are a contortionist. But the reserve handle chant does go: arch look reach pull. MB 3528, RB 1182
  5. I've jumped at a DZ where the pilot didn't where a bailout rig, when I asked him what he was planning on doing if the aircraft was going down, he said he was gonna bear hug someone as they jumped out. Then he said they would steer for water to land in. I didn't really think it was all that smart, since if grabbed onto me, we would load my canopy about 2.8 or something. MB 3528, RB 1182
  6. actually, thats a really good analogy. I'll have to remember that one. The one I get asked most frequently is: "What do you do if both of your parachutes won't open?" I tell em, "Aim for my riggers car" MB 3528, RB 1182
  7. yeah they were talking about that video a long time ago in talkback... it pisses me off that the producers made it sound like this schmuck did everything correct, and it was the parachutes/instructors fault that everything bad happened. I guess he probably gave them the video, and explained it to them that it was all other peoples fault, and the producers never even bothered to check. MB 3528, RB 1182
  8. I have a used Triathalon 160 (loaded around 1.2), which I like, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the most glide out of it for long spots. I've had a few off DZ landings, and I was wondering what is the best way to get back to the DZ? Should I hang on front risers? Just let it do normal flight? Does going downwind or upwind change what I should do? I know Triathalons sink when they are in deep brakes, so I won't do that, but every person who I've asked all give me different opinions of what I should do. and btw, I already searched the forum, and I emailed aerodyne, but they never replied. 9. of course, the people who haven't jumped C182s are always so confused when we talk about the spots to sit in them: student, JM, back-to-pilot, and the-back. I have jumped with people when they are doing their first jump outta a C182, and its pretty entertaining to watch em squirm as you explain how to crawl out on the strut MB 3528, RB 1182
  10. its fun, but only in the freaky kind of fun. I did it last weekend on my Triathalon, and it dropped me like a rock when it stalled. freaked the hell outta me, but it was kinda cool at the same time. MB 3528, RB 1182
  11. actually, I just did a nude jump yesterday, for my 100th. How much it hurts the "package" depends on what position you are doing... sitflying and tracking is painful , belly flying is ok. MB 3528, RB 1182
  12. tennis shoes MB 3528, RB 1182
  13. Mike Mullins King Air is niiiiiiice . I jumped it a few times when he was down at Wichita, and they aren't lying about the 14k in 7 minutes. Normally in our C182, we have to start putting on helmets and goggles about 500 feet before jump run. In Mikes King Air, you had to put on all your stuff several thousand feet before jumprun. Not to mention that the plane climbs so fast, that when it levels out for jumprun, you all get some negative g-forces, which kinda automatically stands you up. The only problem with the King Air is that its more crowded in there than any other plane I've been on, including full CASA loads, or even the little sardine-cans of the sky, C182s MB 3528, RB 1182
  14. I have a pair of the Aviator 3 in 1s. I like how they fit, plus you can change out the lenses in them to clear, tinted, or yellow-tinted (actually really good for overcast days). The only problem with them is that if I'm doing any kind of FF in them, and not wearing a helmet, twice they have popped a contact out (but one stayed in the goggles, so not a huge deal). I can do FF with them as long as I wear a helmet, since I guess the helmet holds them down on my head better. MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. yeah I know what you mean. I've been hit in the throat by just a standard pump chrono, and it hurt like nothing else... I couldn't imagine what it would be like with a high powered shot. also if you don't have a cup, but you still want protection, just slip an extra knee or elbow bad down there. it worked for me MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. Shweeet! Although, it's definitely no fun taking one in the facemask. The paint can spray through the vents and get in your mouth. one of my friends actually got a little cut up by peices of the ball going through the air vents, and they put a few small cuts on his cheek. But its really funny to pop someone right in the eye goggle part... they suddenly can't see shit, and its funny to watch their reaction. MB 3528, RB 1182
  17. I've seen a really small girl do her first jump class, and when they put the big ol' student rig on her and had her hard arch, she kept falling over backwards because of the weight. I can't remember how her actual jump went, but she didn't get injured. MB 3528, RB 1182
  18. I always get song fixation. My last one was "The Cheat Song" from homestarrunner.com I also had "seven nation army" from "White Stripes" stuck in my head this weekend. I've always discovered that the best way to get em out of your head is to listen to them over and over, until you become sick of it, and then it magically goes away.
  19. I'm not a big gun nut or anything, but aren't silencers highly illegal in the US? Are they just flash suppressors designed to look like silencers, or what? I just read somewhere in a book that owning a silencer is the equivalent (to the police) of having a fully automatic ak47. also, I really don't want to get into the "should we have guns or not" debate, but I know I have read that: "Guns kept in houses for home defense or more likely to kill a family member than an intruder" MB 3528, RB 1182
  20. harharhar I liked the last one. MB 3528, RB 1182
  21. or have you heard the horror stories about peoples hair getting caught in the machinery at the cheap carnival rides, and it nearly scalps them? (although, from your avatar, I don't know if it would really be a problem for you) MB 3528, RB 1182
  22. crazyivan, I did copy this over here from the silent thread... its something you said about 5 posts before it was locked.... MB 3528, RB 1182
  23. What annoys me? The people who haven't made any jumps, always say that they are going to sign up "real soon", and yet they have like 10000 posts on here. Like some other people said, a new post everyday asking whether or not RSL is a good thing. pop-up adds that spawn more pop-up ads when you close em. Thank god we don't have those here. MB 3528, RB 1182
  24. I've got a '93 Javelin, and its freefly safe... as long as I keep the velcro new. I'm gonna get it modified anyways, just to be safe though. MB 3528, RB 1182
  25. A guy at our DZ had some tension knots once. It caused his chute to start spinning, and so he had to cut away pretty fast. On the video, it looked like a normal canopy except for one side was just a tiny little bit distorted. actually, we weren't sure it was tension knots, but there wasn't a better explanation. (one brake unstowed had already been ruled out) MB 3528, RB 1182
