  1. you might want to be careful doing that... I've always heard from the experienced guys that the most dangerous way to skydive is with 2 newbies trying new things together. anyways, congrats on the jump.
  2. Could you elaborate on your reasons for this? The main reason is cost... a good, safe, used rig might cost around $2500... and you can find deals for much less. A new rig will cost you around $5000 dollars. Buying used means you will have $2500 extra dollars to buy other gear, like helmets, jumpsuits, etc., and more jump tickets. Now if you have a lot of cash lying around, you can buy new stuff, but when you are new in your skydiving career, (such as in your case, only 2 jumps), you really don't know what size main you will need, or what kind of flying you will do: RW, freeflying, CREW, etc. Since most new skydivers need to use really big mains, if you buy a new rig that can hold a manta 288 that you are using on student status, something tells me you will be kicking yourself when you have 100 jumps, and you can't jump in winds higher than 14 mph because you will go backwards. Not only that, but you will be stuck with that size main until you either find something like a 260 (rare size), or until you buy a whole new container. just my 2 pfennig
  3. This may be a stupid question, but like many of you said, I've never really had hook knifes explained to me. so, in what situations would a hook knife be useful? I know: CREW stuff, a lineover on a reserve, but I can't think of anything else you could use it for... plz help this newbie out MB 3528, RB 1182
  4. do you see what happened? When you started really freaking out on the plane, you ended up having a bad dive... Just Relax! you will hear this a hundred times, this is because its true. You can also think of it this way: you have already had several practices for this particular jump, so you know all about what you have to do... now, just try it again, and relax. MB 3528, RB 1182
  5. I used to trash pack occasionally... until I trash packed a sabre I was jumping, and WHAM! I decided it was better to do at least a halfway decent pack job then get those big black bruises on my legs again. Whenever I trash packed, I would be extra careful to do my cutaway/reserve handle practice pulls a few times, just to be safe. MB 3528, RB 1182
  6. congrats man... and you got it before the cutoff, so you're gold. MB 3528, RB 1182

you all do have some nice dogs... but you're just lucky I don't have a digital camera or I'd have to show you all up with pictures of my Brandy. MB 3528, RB 1182
  8. thats either the strangest woman in the world, or its a photoshop job. If she was real, you know Sir Mix A Lot would be calling following her around all day. MB 3528, RB 1182

    Fly Fatty

well, you do have to love how she sticks her arms out like wings right after she gets off the ground... apparently she already forgot about the being drug for fifty feet in front of spectators. MB 3528, RB 1182
  10. I think its pretty damn funny stuff... did you see the "star wars dork clones" one? I saved like half of those videos to my computer, I can't wait to show my friends, before this kids lawyer gets them taken off the internet. MB 3528, RB 1182

I just feel sorry for the boat pulling that load MB 3528, RB 1182
  12. thats way overpriced. Don't forget, a maintanance check and new batteries are like $270 someone was telling me the other day, including all the shipping. so 305 + 270 + 10 bucks for ebay guy to ship it to you = $585 for a cypres with about 2 years life left. I've personally seen much better deals then this. MB 3528, RB 1182
  13. damn, thats what I get for scanning the first posts and just going to the end... however, I was the first to provide a link showing it was a myth! thats gotta count for something, right?
  14. hehehe, thats like NSFWx3 would that be a cheeseburger, or a fish sandwich? MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. oh man, that last chick has a great body, but the head just doesn't seem right on it. I say, time to whip out "Chef's Paper Bag of Pleasure" and for you who don't watch south park, its a paper bag to put on her head MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. uh oh. you know, they should really call the fruit loop something else... it sounds so bad telling your whuffo friends that some guy at my dz gave me the ol' fruit loop last year. also, this isn't fair, I can't post booty pics because I'm on my home computer, not my personal computer, which has much more uhhh extensive files. MB 3528, RB 1182
  17. augh, not today... we only had like 10 people jumping today, so we were hotloading the cessna. I forgot how cramped it was in there... you poor KSUPC guys... all jammed in one of those sardine cans. oh wait... I have to do that too, in less then a month MB 3528, RB 1182
  18. bumped to say: sorry guys, but its another hoax. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/metallica.asp another day, another myth cleared up! (flies into sunset wearing superhero outfit) MB 3528, RB 1182
  19. hmmm that does sound like a KSUPC dz rule, hahaha. thats what you get with those crazy club officers we have. I did like the title of this thread though... confused me for a second, couldn't figure out why booties (skydiving booties) aren't safe for work MB 3528, RB 1182
  20. apparently the KSUPC guys are doing enough post whoring (in this post anyway) for everyone MB 3528, RB 1182
  21. "Verne Troyer, standing two-foot, eight-inches in his socks, said he felt like a giant when 29-year-old yoga instructor Genevieve Gallen agreed to tie the knot." What do you all mean, how does it work? She teaches yoga, she can make anything work. MB 3528, RB 1182
  22. I don't know a whole bunch about international money transfers, but what about an escrow service? They receive the money, you send your gear via certified mail, and so you have proof that you sent it, and the escrow service then gives the money to you... minus a fee MB 3528, RB 1182
  23. I have always wanted to see that stuff. I have a question: do the lights move around? For some reason I always imagined that they shimmer and move back and forth, but I've never really known. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but since it is acutally caused by charged particles from the son hitting the atmosphere, I don't think they "stay away" from pollution or lights, or radio waves. My guess is that you can't see them when there is a lot of light pollution, but they are still there. MB 3528, RB 1182
  24. I actually think the badwolf one is kinda clever. I really never thought of a belly button that way MB 3528, RB 1182
