  1. I was recently visiting another DZ a very experienced (many thousands of jumps) instructor/coach had to pull silver after failing to do a handles check prior to exit. He said the worst thing was that he had just told the novice he was coaching to do a handles check and failed to do one himself. PC handle was jammed in the BOC.
  2. Other than stumbling on to another " Why Men dont understand Women thread" There may be something in Golden Knights colours

    Balloon jumps?

I did mine in Eloy with Burner He squeezed in 10 of us that wanted to go (8 usual) The heat from the burner was ..... hot exposed skin will feel it Take off is not like an aircraft, as soon as the basket clears the ground the wind takes the baloon wherever it wants. As you get higher the "burns" become less frequent and there is a beautful sense of peace, also the higher we got the more relaxed I got as the picture of the world at altitue became " normal" Climb out was a little stressed due to being packed in there, worried about snagging handles, exit is cool need to be head high if you dont want to tumble. I got 16 secs of freefall from 4900' If you can snag a camera guy to go with you some of the coolest pics are balloon exits. You definately feel the speed building as you reach terminal, pull time feels like any other skydive. Before I launched Burner had picked out a landing area, stay away from power and fence lines Van came out and picked me up. All in All a great experience. Andrew

    USPA

I'm a USPA member to get the magazine. USPA uses the 34000 member figure often. I'd be interested to know how many of their members are not US residents and have joined just to get the magazine.
  5. Vancouver/ Whistler has been awarded the Games big party on the wetcoast.
  6. There are two DZ's near Edmonton Edmonton Skydive Centre at Westlock, north of the city Eden North west of the city. Lyal and Aidan at Eden are World Air Games Bronze medalists in CReW Aidan is also Canadian National 4 way silver medalist. People from the two DZ's often combine to compete at provincials. There were people from all over Alberta and even some from Saskatchewan in the 10way teams. Have to say a big thanks to Dave from Kapowsin for bringing up the Otter
  7. Kapowsin is in Washington State Here in Alberta we will be jumping out of their Otter next weekend at Provincials in Didsbury.
  8. You are better to find someone to watch you practice tracking. they can give you feedback on, heading control body position, and relative altitude. The most common novice tracking problems are, poor heading control, chipping from being too rigid, and altitude loss(delta) rather than a good flat track. Andrew
  9. David Soul He had some earlier musical success playing disguised with a hood on, people thought he was someone famous till he took it off on some talk show.... that ended that.
  10. While there is a Burnaby B.C Skydive Burnaby is in Ontario
  11. Two years ago I found myself below 2000' having a hard time getting a good grip in the hackey. I pulled silver and my pro track said 1200' I was heading to a boogie the next weekend and the main thought was dont let my cypres fire plus I was due for a repack anyway. I had opened over a wooded area, and still had enough altitude to fly to a safe landing in a pasture. I have since seen 4 cypres fires one was a 4-way , she had a hard pull (borrowed gear) pulled silver but cypres had fired. The other three were 2 out where the main snivelled through cypres activation, two landed safely , the third broke his (hip? pelvis?) What do I take from this plan your dive so you dont go low a reserve ride is cheaper than a cypres fire is cheaper than a hospital bill. Andrew
  12. You can download (adobe) the CoP requirements from www.cspa.ca/cspa/Students/CoPs.html Weather looks great for this weekend have fun Andrew
  13. I believe the falcon used to be a 4 point 4-way and the double falcon was an 8 point 4-way they did away with the double falcon and raised the req for the falcon

  21. Sounds like he is a bag of wind. If he does make it out, have him read the waiver out loud in front of a video camera, signing each section as he goes. Have someone ask if he fully understands after each section. I doubt you will see him anyway.
