  1. So, all you have to do is pay for an expensive flight and when you get here drink enough cheap beer and do cheap jumps and you should come out on top! You do realize that jumps are $16 and there is Free Beer at the Eloy boogie
  2. One stone is 14 lbs, 2.2 lbs per kg He weighs 12.5 stone , 175lbs ~80kg
  3. Still trying to find the person who "left some clothing" in your jeep? too bad you are not coming to Eloy this year Andrew
  4. omniskore www.omniskore.com Andrew
  5. C-FALL the 206 we jump now C-GASX the 182 we used to jump
  6. You missed UPS, brokerage fees like you would not believe!!!!
  7. Make the calls Mark, It would not be good to find out after injury that you are not covered. I get additional medical through Alberta Motor Association (CAA) for less than $100 per yr, as long as the skydiving is recreational you are covered. Andrew

    Sabre 2

people have died? news to me I know of three instances where people have been injured My friend Jody broke his femur and separated his pelvis we dont know the exact reason for the injury, but he was 230lbs and had been sit flying He is back jumping still on his sabre 2 , 210 he also jumps his son's sabre 2,190 he has also lost some weight. there was a jumper in Texas also heavier build who broke a femur the third incident was the person in Spain. do a search in the incidents forum. Speed at deployment , body position and packing will all have an effect on opening, not just canopy type.
  10. I put about 500 jumps on a spectre 170 and have 250+ jumps on my spectre 150. If you use Brian Germaine's guidelines for wing loading at ~1.2 and 200 jumps you are at the correct wing loading for your jumps. A 150 would put you in the 1.4 range keep your present canopy and use the next 200 jumps to build your skills useing all control inputs, you are going to make mistakes, and the 170 will be more forgiving. Remember a skilled pilot can swoop any canopy.
  11. Depends on what Transport Canada does, due to the recent inquiries there is pressure for them to bring in some kind of regulation. If TC says all DZs must match or exceed CSPA BSRs and CSPA puts mandatory AADs in the BSRs then it will affect all jumpers. Currently the BSRs state that you must have an AAD up till you reach solo status. Andrew
  12. you may be asking questions but you are ignoring the answers see previous thread http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1717304;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  13. Mark, don't get tied up with terminology. the "two stage flare" is used to differentiate more advanced flaring from the student pull down your toggles 12' to 15' above ground. flaring is more of a feel thing than a mechanical movement. From full flight you pull down your toggles untill you feel lift in your leg straps, hold that position as your forward speed diminishes then finish your flare. Too much initial input will cause you to " pop up", too little and you will rapidly approach the ground and be forced to "dig" to get lift. good flares are executed smoothly, every jump is a learning experience. Judging when to start, learning the sight picture takes time and jumps. Work on it one jump at a time, work on it with your instructors. Have fun. Andrew
  14. What is their reasoning for that? Just curious.
  15. No, thats what you said, I said that if you want to get your container open by 3000' you would need to pull higher, 3500' was suggested by the original post. what do you want me to say 3098?.
  16. All it takes at freefall speeds is a lazy pull, trouble finding the hackey or a couple of seconds in the burble and you will blow past 3000' We are talking about new jumpers with 30 to 50 or so jumps. It does say, the container has to be open, not the pilot chute has been tossed.
  17. The SIM does not say pull by 3000' for A licence it says minimum container opening altitude if you want your container open by 3000' you are going to want to pull sooner. like about 3500'.... like the instructor said Andrew
  18. Though he was busy organizing RW at the Alberta Provincials at Eden North Mad John did make time to sneak in a 2 way Flock with me. I also got to do 2 way flocks with Steve from Saskatchewan (ennss on DZ.com) and Jason (Fenceline) from Calgary. Every time we put on our suits Tina

  20. ball diamond we did another the next day into another ball park at the Rainmaker rodeo see attached Andrew
  21. This is a framegrab of a demo we did into Edmonton last month. edited to add: this was my first Demo
  22. If you move back to Canada, the ratings would have to be CSPA Tandem would be the easier to qualify for, C CoP and Coach 1 PFFI requires Instructor A(JM), and Coach 2 Coach 1 and JM courses are fairly frequent Coach 2 and PFF less so. There are a couple of DZs that are USPA affiliated Abbotsford BC, and Gan in Ontario. All the DZs in Alberta are now CSPA. Andrew
  23. Have a rigger check the trim, the break lines being too short may cause the stalling, How many jumps are there on the canopy? Andrew
