  1. GOt that one all the time! Also, if anybody asked "What're you doing?" when it was fairly obvious ... "carving whip handles for a goose's bridle!" Use that one all the time - confuses my students all the time! Kerry
  2. Thanks Peej! I very nearly managed to pop into JSC for a visit, but had to see various family members and ran out of time. Not jumping unfortunately, but next year when I get back to SA will def start up again :-) Kerry
  3. Hi all! Gosh, it's been so long I barely recognise any of the names! But for those who can still remember me - HI!!! I'm still living in BKK Thailand, and all is good. Hope you are all well. For those who don't ..... Hi anyway Kerry Kerry
  4. still as fat as I ever was .... Kerry
  5. In Thailand, if you go to a local "Restaurant/bar", the menu is the size of a telephone directory - but you can count on whatever you order (by the time you have gone through it all, you'll have consumed a lot of beer) to be spicy! There are Irish pubs etc, where the fare is the usual pub grub, albeit with a "Thai" flavour Kerry
  6. Yup, I will return too ... one day. At the moment I'm thoroughly enjoying the randomness that is Thailand.
  7. Here's a cool 360 degree view of Bangkok http://www.mtwthailand.org/Thailand%20Info/Photos/General/360%20bkk%20view%20big.jpg Attached is the elephant building, which I can see from my apartment building - pretty cool huh? The next pic is the Bank of Asia - looks like a robot!! Apparently the architect wanted it to reflect modern banking procedures (an oxymoron in Thailand!!!!) so designed this building, complete with eyes and antennae!!!! Kerry
  8. quit my job as a journalist in South Africa, said goodbye to friends and family, and hopped on a plane to a country on the other side of the world (Thailand), that I had never been to before. Didn't know a soul when I landed almost 3 months ago. Now I teach English to little kids, and also business english to adults. Hard work, but very rewarding. I'm lovin it! Kerry
  9. I would have to go with ya dong - Thai liquor. Red stuff served in a shot glass. Apparently it has different versions. The one I had was named "discofever". Anyway, you get this shot glass of vile red stuff, served with a plate of little yellow fruit (horrible) and salt, and then washed down with flavoured water (flavour unknown). Horrible. Mind you, after three you actually start to convince yourself that it tastes marvellous and you should go for a fourth...... Don't. And I had to deal with a classroom full of four year olds the next day Kerry
  10. Kom bly in Bangkok.
They served whole frogs at the place I ate at this evening Kerry
  12. Nope. But I heard his yowling Kerry
