  1. Gary has been out of the sport for a long time........... when we did BCRW, it was with big, puffy f-111 7 cells ~ 220 ft^2. just pack your canopy in the bag as normal, but cutaway and switch the risers R - L or L - R before closing the container. landings would not be fun under modern gear. Craig BCRW #4 cause i closed the first 4 stack. Rot's were fun from the different perspective. have fun

  6. hope you last longer than they do, did. kleggo
  7. uhhhhhhhhhh the vast majority of "base jumpers" do NOT use canopies that are silicone calendared such that they are considered "fully ZP" many modern BASE canopies ARE partial "ZP". this should be considered when comparing canopy opening characterstics. be safe kleggo
  8. sigh i was hoping the rumours i had heard were not true. i guess this end was pretty much inevitable with all the time he spent in Iraq. Even a SEAL god such as Jerry could have fate smiling on him for only so long. as someone else wrote "jerry WAS larger than life" all you had to do was ask him blue skies bro kleggo BV, please pass the word if there will be any memorial service @ PVP. Chris J, if you see AH and Mick, have a brew in his memory
  9. go for it you may need a few friends to stretch out the nose and help inflate the canopy as you learn what to do. it is VERY easy as long as you can run fast and your canopy glidepath angle will outfly the slope of the hill. it's very easy. my first square "jump" was a ground launch @ torrey pines CA when i had 6 SL (that's Static line) jumps. i survived. you will too. don't pay for no stinking ground launch school. sheeeeeeeeeeeesh
  10. I watched it on Leno tonight...Mikey did good! Even faced down Bill Maher's feeble attempt to give him shit! X 2 ! __________________________________________________ you thought "mikey did good" ? i watched it and thought what a @#%& ( blocked out so as to not seem a personal attack) Do we really need someone on national TV saying things like; "my canopy is a loaded weapon" or "my canopy in a spin is a loaded weapon on steroids"? how is that GOOD? really. how is that GOOD? what did he do / say / demonstrate that was GOOD? how pathetic be safe kleggo
  11. QuoteI'm thinking about (probably will order very soon) putting together a CReW rig and I was wondering what wing loading I need to shoot for so I can order my Lightning. I realize I caould probaly do a search and find this info, but I'm lazy and don't feel like it. I just want to start getting in the formations, rather than flying a Stilletto behind the formations. Thanks, __________________________________________________ this may be of interest to you http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=45105&d=1 Note that this container easily accomodates a L126. be safe Craig
  12. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure this is a good idea Kevin. 1500 feet doesn't leave much time for a style set prior to reserve activation. be safe kleggo

  15. My biggest early BASE inspiration came from a Rock and Ice Magazine feature that was written by Randy Leavitt (BASE 30something?). __________________________________________________ Quite true. I believe it was Randy that coined the term "cliffing" when written up in a R&I article. be safe kleggo
  16. __________________________________________________ quite probably true, but IMO both are accurate. be safe kleggo

  18. Gonna be doing some sightseeing in the four corners area combined with the annual trip to Moab. Anybody have a contact phone number for Daniel Staley the Navajo that was kind enough to guide many of us @ CDC back in the good-ol-days? If we need to have a guide to visit the ruins, i'd prefer to pass along the cash to him........ or his son. thanks kleggo
  19. QuoteI have scarring of a Eustacian tube and it has caused me to pretty much quit jumping. I can get away with a few from time to time but it is too painful to make many in a day. Jon 2 viable options that have worked for me for 20+ years. CReW BASE be safe kleggo
  20. no offense dude but a... have you ever done a BASE jump. we do do them at terminal v. you know??? with mesh sliders and 36" and 38" pilot chutes! i know this sounds weird. but it happens everyday in NORWAY, SWITZERLAND. yosemite (half dome, sweet!). you should try it!!! CREW SCARES ME though. no shit! canopies all close like that!!! no way!!! later man. well until i saw this reply to chris w ( who probably has forgotten more about canopy flight than u currently know ) i was going to offer to help since u seem to be a local and i have some experience in both the CReW and Fixed Object milleu. good luck, i'm sure you'll do fine. 70 BASE jumps.......................... wow! be safe kleggo
