  1. In Steve1's Scary stories thread we posted a bunch of stuff from the 57Ugly fire. link to thread? cheers Craig
  2. I can't seem to find this grainy Air Trash video of the DAC burning to the ground after throwing a prop blade. please post a link if your search skills are more effective than mine. cheers Craig
  3. Actually, PCA is more like IAD for BASE. I know BASE jumpers who did actual static line stuff on sub-200 ft. jumps and they were using some type of break cord. -Blind true and we've used wraps of masking and / or electrical tape securing bridle to a solid object. learning better techniques is generally a better thing. Craig
  4. some possible concerns that come to mind; 1. possible increased risk of entanglement / knotting during extraction from the pouch? 2. increased snatch force that may lead to canopy bridle attachment point damage? 3. it's different and not well tested? 4. bad idea for after deployment CReW just answering as an exercise because i don't know definitively why 12ft is bad. Craig
  5. groovy carpet design man........................
  6. Simon What is the difference in arm and leg wing surface area between the 2 suits? is this even a useful question for someone deciding between R and S? cheers Craig
  7. Michael, thanks for taking the time to reply. your response makes sense to me a aligns well with my previous experiences Expect an order soon, along with a few additional questions. kleggo
  8. i hear you and clearly understand your points. i also agree with you and appreciate your input. Thank you. kleggo
  9. not under the listed conditions. i don't really care about "him", but do care about overall WS activity at the DZ. and this" foreigner" has the potential to screw the pooch for other enthusiasts. 12' bridle???????????? is he my size? i'd like to try an S Bird.......... kleggo
  10. Yes, i'm a Luddite, and know very little about GPS technology other than there are satellites used to determine position.
  11. Here's a bit of an update. Since my previous post i've made; 3 jumps on the Classic II 11 jumps on the Phantom 2 thanks to DSE and Skydive Elsinore. DSE has proven to be a valuable resource and excellent instructor. Without doubt he has dramatically hastened my learning curve. Nest step is to rent a Tony T Bird from Simon @ Wicked Wingsuits to get another reference point. My primary goal remains max speed / best glide rate / max distance. i've found the Phantom 2 to be an excellent suit for intro flying and "flocking" as i learn. i can fly it pretty efficiently. i can flail and recover easily. i can fly with other people. i love the new arm zippers instead of the lace up wings. But, I'm not convinced it is the proper tool for my goal. cheers Craig
  12. ?????????????? I thought Jerry MacCauley wasn't around anymore to act as a team hazing consultant . Blue Skies brother. Craig
  13. i liked my CFlex very much. It was by far the most comfortable rig i've owned. the reserve container was a sweet design that was "rigger friendly" i liked the external reserver PC. i removed the catapult and never used it. cheers Craig
  14. been jumping since '81, was recently on extended hiatus, but have returned to aeroplanes so that i can get wingsuit current again. the walls in Europe have been calling me hard and i see no point in resisting
  15. indeed inquiring minds want to know. Craig
  16. Pam and Brian are good people. glad to hear that that are still healthy and active. Craig F
  17. WOW impressive product and almost more importantly a very useful followup discussion. Thank you Craig
  18. OMG there is so much here that is mind boggling, sketchy, scary, incredible, liberating. the scene of the flyer dropping into the notch blows my mind. looking forward to this. Craig
  19. thanks for the continuing discussion. i appreciate the banter so keep it coming. DSE i'm 5'5" / 142 lb. hope to see you this weekend. cheers
  20. making progress. had the reserve I&Rd made some ff tracking jumps to get current again and then made 2 WS jumps on the classic II this past weekend. Now it's time to venture over to Elsinore to connect with the local PF guru (Douglas Spotted Eagle?) and chat. Cheers Craig
  21. mmmmmmmmmmm CReW and BASE, the most mutually reinforcing skydiving disciplines. be safe Kleggo
  22. thanks to all who replied. Yes, Perris is / was "home dz", but elsinore is just across the 74. I will go chat with the locals at both dzs. Cheers Craig
  23. Anybody willing to help an old-guy come back to the light? I’m coming back after a nearly 4 year aeroplane jumping hiatus and there have been significant changes in WS gear while I've been away. I have ~ 7K jumps, most of them CReW, maybe 850 FF, 1000 Fixed Object Jumps (FOJ). I miss flying in Norway so I’m going to get current again with primary goal of going back to Euro and flying the cliffs. I have / had ~ 80 aeroplane and 63 Fixed Object WS jumps, all on a Birdman Classic 2. I’m turning to you to get some opinions on what is the “best” / wisest choice in buying a new WS. I’m a short / stocky guy, 65” tall / 142 pounds with no gear so not ultra aero. I’m pretty conservative in gear choice, would willingly give up some flight performance to reduce WS complexity and provide extra margin of safety during FOJ. No back flying, no flocking, just looking for a noticeable improvement over the Classic 2. And just to put your mind at ease………… I’ll do X FF jumps first, then fly the Classic 2, then move on to new product before going to wonderland again. Thanks Craig feel free to PM if you'd prefer.
