  1. and an interesting photo collection and an interesting "bird bath" miss ya man
  2. I'm very happy with my Tony R Bird Pro + (2) Also happy with my Squirrel Colugo 2 (not exactly the same as a Freak) I prefer the front lacing on the tony suit over the zipper on the Squirrel I suspect both / either would make you happy It's more about the pilot than the suit.
  3. i just listened to a kick ass interview by him on skydive radio UK he dopes not seem like the type that emails / texts rocky evans 1905 skydive drive deland fl 32724
  4. i have used my RBird Pro + (same as the 2 i think) for #1 and 3 with good success. ps it's more about the pilot than the suit for most ANY discipline that you are considering. (not saying i'm a shit-hot pilot)
  5. i started in Perris in 81. One of the first things I bought at the DZ, other than jumps and beer, was a "dangly canopy ear ring" from Dave. Haven't seen him since ~ 1984
  6. It would vary with the body shape of the jumper. I am no expert but I feel like a tall muscular person would have a natural advantage in performance flying, with bulk around the shoulders and chest and comparitively less around the waist it would move the CG further to the front of the wing, allowing for more forward speed at a given AoA. Maybe, but their is a certain national champion sponsored by wicked wingsuits who does not fit the "tall muscular person" description........ I guess it all depends on the definition of "performance flying". cheers more salad, less meat.
  7. Was Walter the Deutschlander who was also an attorney based in Munich? He has / had children who also skydived with him?? If so, I am very sad. I initially met him in Lauterbrunnen. He showed up at the Horner in his Audi S4 Avant loaded with 8 base rigs packed and ready. We made several jumps together once he realized that I was not the typical lazy american who was too lazy to hike to exit points. Trying to find a photo of our fun.
  8. thanks for posting this 10th anno notification. i missed the thread first time around
  9. buy a storm when you get "bored" with WS, you can try CReW.
  10. A gear store that closed in 84/85 (I had to Google that one) ] they were from Texas, and sent out a cool "catalog" occasionally No one mentioned "blast handle". I still have one on my garage wall removed from my first rig by a conscientious rigger (F4 pilot call sign Lizard) who "cared" about my safety.
  11. Died 08 November 2016. Not skydiving related Funeral services 07 December 2016 11:00am Miramar Air Station Cemetery San Diego Ca Blue Skies bro. Funeral notice attached below We made a lot of fun CReW jumps together. Craig F
  12. Larry helped me through student progression @ Perris on 81. I still think of him occasionally and just last week was speaking with one of the doc's I work with who made a S/L jump with Larry in ~ 86. He never went back, so Larry must have scared him off...........
  13. I've recently been flying with flysight voice mode and am having challenges getting feedback through all phases of the flight. I follow the recommended turn-on procedures and can hear feedback as we climb the last 1500 feet to altitude. I typically get no feedback for the first 30 seconds of flight, but do seem to hear a "clicking" instead of feedback. eventually i get feedback for the remainder of the flight. Am I losing GPS lock or??? (I have not yet reviewed data to see if it is a data capture issue or a voice feedback issue. Here is a photo of flysight location on my hat. Cheers Craig
  14. LOL Two words Intellectual Property.
  15. I purchased 2 new suits this year. One from the "guys" in Florida and one from the "guys" in Seattle. Both are well made and were delivered in a timely manner. Both required that I send them back for alteration (fitment) Both were returned with the appropriate solutions in a timely manner. I'm happy and will continue to spend my $$$ with these two companies. Special thanks to Patty Collins and Mike Steen for making these transactions as painless as could be reasonably expected. I see the "Poor Customer Service" thread in this forum has >250 comments. Please try to imaging how challenging it is to manufacture such a complex product, (probably more difficult than building a modern cross-braced wing) PLUS adding the enormous complexity of fitting that wing around a disparate range of morphological body types. I am gobsmacked that the companies get it right as often as they do. Even if I had the skills to design / manufacture a WS, no way I would build one unless I measured each customer personally and that is NOT a sustainable business model. Cheers Craig F.
  16. Monday for me also. i left work for an "appointment" and went to Perris. I have made a jump on every Leap Day since 1981, though one jump at Perris was only about 4 feet from the door of the DC-3 to the ground in the midst of pissing rain. excuses suck.
  17. I'll be there the first week of April. I see there are three DZ's listed in Parachutist as being USPA affiliates. I have thousands of jumps A D licence I am current and can show a log book.............. honest. Any advice on how to be able to make a jump while i am there? I will email the three DZ's and I know the weather may be "interesting" Any advice on how to make this happen? Am willing to take a train to leave the Tokyo area, any excuse to Shikansen is a good excuse. Thanks Craig F
  18. Hope you got out to make a jump. I did, or more accurately, a WS flight Cheers Craig
  19. Hope you got out to make a jump. I did, or more accurately, a WS flight Cheers Craig
  20. Or at least the angels can fly wherever / whatever i do. I had the most fabulous timing to connect with the squirrel principals @ skydive oceanside / tsunami / go jump oceanside this weekend it was a MIND-BLOWING experience to see matt and friends flying concentric vertical circles around me, (on their back) as they filmed to gain data on how to improve my feeble skillz. many thanks to mike, matt, scotty-bob and will for the generosity to jump with me. my main takeaway? stop flying alone. i'm just strengthening BAD habits = inefficient flying craig
  21. post up a photo or description of what you used to place over the spectra pigtail please. Craig
