  1. Nice flying Luke. Andy must be bummed he didn't get a shot. Since others took this thread off track with chatter about careers and titles, I'll ask if they should have used Teslas "self-flying" SW? LOL.
  2. not much, 30 - 40 grams, not including handle. I don't have a scale with that low of a resolution. FYI, Squirrel makes PCs of differing diameters. If you want more info, I suggest you contact Squirrel, but they may laugh.
  3. If looking for current info on using "death straps" I recommend the following resources The Raw Dogs CReW group Any military demonstration team. and nope, haven't seen my Terry Parsons book for a LONG time.
  4. black n red ring looks like a who's who of 4 / 8 way world champs!
  5. this is the problem with being "mature" and having your usual vendors age-out or retire.
  6. Surprisingly, and to their credit, my contact @ Sunpath did not feel Aurora was appropriate for my morphology. Bravo to them. They did say a Javelin with dynamic corners would be ideal!
  7. a friend of mine tried to use her left hand to reach around to the right side to deploy BOC. Strange stuff happens
  8. I've had a brief email conversation with one of their associates. My current Javelin has a "B" size yoke. They tell me they only build in C & D size yokes. Conversations = ongoing
  9. I was listening to the Fucking Pilot podcast last night and heard an interesting interview with Peregrine's David Singer. It seems he takes a forward thinking take on design / engineering. First time I've heard a skydive gear designer extolling the virtues of Solid Works. His methods speak to my engineering mind set. Take a look @ time point 40.00 in this video to see their solution to closing a main container. The video is very long, too long for me to watch at one sitting, but I'll keep working my way through it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW9_hx4-NIU&t=2612s Peregrine's web site https://peregrinemfginc.com/ I really liked hearing his thoughts on joining nylon via ultrasonic welding rather than stitching them together. THAT would make a difference in parachute pack volume! Anyone here jump one?
  10. Good discussion. Thank you. bmac, thank you for the links. I'll call Sunpath tomorrow and ask them some questions. I find the form factor of the Aurora to be a bit strange, but Form following Function seems like a good path forward in this case.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to provide a detailed reply. Be well.
  12. I started another thread about this harness / container assembly in the gear forum. Please comment if you own / jump one. https://www.dropzone.com/forums/topic/276031-sunpath-aurora-harness-container-assembly/?tab=comments#comment-4968917 Thanks Craig
  13. If you own / jump one please post your thoughts. durability? comfort? ease (or not) of packing main container? does your rigger swear at you when its time for I&R? harness configuration (rings at lateral / leg strap junction or other)? other? I know some may think WS "specific" rigs may be a marketing ploy, but my shoulder likes the thought of lower pilot chute pull location. Thank you. Craig
  14. So many bad vibes and little discussion of the actual planned activities. Must be bad weather for many people here. Here in Vista CA its 74 degrees and severe clear. I'm heading out for a ride. Be well.
  15. interesting Happy Tree Day. 3D camera view made me want to throw up. Unlikely I'll ever buy one of those.
  16. thank you. I'm certainly not upset. I just have no need for an app to do this. I've sorted out my own processes in the past 40+ years. Be well. Craig
  17. BFL Base Fatality List For those PM'ing me it's on the interwebs
  18. If you don't know what nps means, i'll just roll my eyes and decline your offer. "manage my rigs"??? No one does that but me. :-)
  19. Such a funny, gregarious, talented friend is lost to us. My best to Marta and all that knew him. COD = Impact. Details will be on the BFL at some point.
  20. Thanks for the story Matt. I agree with your assessment of ranger wendt. His on-camera time certainly did not sync with his "professional actions". I bought 8 tickets to SS when it played in San Diego. Even though Jean was there and gave a short Q&A after the movie I only saw 10 others there, four of whom were my guests. Well actually 6 since I gave away 2 tickets at the last minute to a couple in-line since two of my friends bailed on coming. Be well.
  21. I'll re-watch and let you know. but knowing Jean and Carl, I suspect she was referring to "man's potentially indomitable spirit which allows us the press on despite adversity to do that which we love." Carl used to say something like this, "happy are those that dream and are willing to pay the price to see them come true."
  22. A photo I found of Kliff prepping for a CReW jump with us. He's on the right.
  23. I just learned that well known and loved, long-time jumper in So Cal, (Elsinore, Perris, The Perrine), Kliff Keltner is gone. Not skydiving related. We had good times together. I flailed and lost touch with him the past few years and now I can't give him a hug and drink one of his always offered beers. He even had the balls to join us on a 4 way CReW rotation team. BSBD my friend.
  24. Matt, were you on the cinderblock wall with bK when Carl was filming "exits" and the wall collapsed?
  25. bmac, thanks for the vimeo = very clear. meteora, thanks, I haven't watched the viddy yet, but I'm guessing it's the one where the guy is a proponent of swinging his lower torso and legs to untwist. Might be a good solution if one can't reach the risers for some reason. Cheers Craig
