  1. Because she's a stone cold trigger puller, rrrrrrright. Oh you mean to reference Benghazi right? Let me put this in perspective for you. The poor souls who died in Benghazi signed up to work in a hostile environment. And yes they paid the price. No fucking different if I burn up in a house fire or a cop dies from some junky flunky who gets the drop on him, or the soldiers who die EVERY day. The difference is the people who perished in Benghazi were high paid high profile individuals and NOT us lower class citizens. Oh and you got spoon fed this shit everyday for months... Food for thought, end of rant.
  2. Does he not have a moral AND legal obligation to come forward regardless of "immunity"?
  3. Being an avid wingsuiter I see two scenarios being most common as far as mals: Chopping due to line twists and going for the silver 1st due to not finding PC. My last trip to the local DZ, I watched a dude flying his new WS and it resulted in him having an AAD fire. According to first hand report, he had stability issues at pull time and tried two many times before it fired. He walked away from an uneventful reserve ride. Unsure what kind of rig he jumps. The suit was a freak2.
  4. I love mine, bought it second hand for my first rig and I'm happy to pass it along to my girlfriend as her 1st rig. I watched my rigger repack the reserve with NO issues... I also had a wingsuit cut away(fuck me line twists) with no issues there either.
  5. That seems to be part of my technique. I sweat profusely while packing for reasons I don't actually understand - so much so that people wonder what's wrong with me. Keeping the top of the roll tight to keep it from wanting to reinflate seems to have what's made the difference in making it easier for me, but I generally just pay for packing, but I plan to spend a lot of time practicing spending weekends at the DZ this summer. I've only packed a few hundred of my own BUT still manage to sweat a lot too. Which by the way ISN'T good for the fabric. But what are you going to do... It really is all about technique and controlling the fabric. It helped me by going from a 190 9 cell to a 170 7 cell...
  6. Weekend adventures and a change in scenery would be Skydive Carolina IMO. Good vibes and a friendly atmosphere! AND a HUGE landing area...
  7. Some wing suiters recommend open face to get that instant feed back.
  8. Tonfly made it Halfway. It is a sky helmet with an audible pocket (just solo, optima, quattro and protrack II) in the right ear. I was excited when I saw the teaser on FB, but I was expecting more. There isn't a proper cutaway, chincup, left audible pocket or any snag-resistant camera mount. There are sky helmets EN 1077 certified for less than 1/10th of the price (in decathlon, 30€) of the ICE. For sure they aren't as beautiful as the ICE, but paying 360€ for a left audible pocket, a headband cover, an a fancier chinstrap doesn't seem to me like a reason to be satisfied. To me it looks like an overpriced sky helmet or a protective skydiving helmet for basic needs. I checked out Tonfly's website, and with all things skydiving YES it's overpriced! That being said the tried and true PRO TEC helmet offers protection and a VERY nice price. Sexy it's not but what's more important??? Tonfly offers several models and all look pretty customizable...
  9. I just think half shell looks silly I must be wrong then... Looks 1st, safety 2nd. The last thing you need right now is some over priced GO PRO holder. And IMO an audible. Learn the right way with putting OUR safety FIRST.
  10. Sooooooo, Tim. Please give us some and by some I mean all of your skydiving history??? So we may give you a more informed response...
  11. With a tuition of $60k? There is precisely -one- film school in LA even vaguely worth that and the reasoning has zero to do with learning how to make films. If it's the school I'm thinking of, then quit skydiving and start working/socializing with writer/director students in the previous year's class as well as your own. Help -anyone- who wants you on their crew. Otherwise, you're wasting your money. I can think of at least a couple where if you're paying that for tuition, you have been royally fucked over. Well friend, IMO you already fucked up by seeking "higher education". And in that field... So go sell everything you own and become a packer bum. Good luck buddy.
  12. I am not a swooper and I do not want my AAD firing at higher decent rates. There is absolutely no reason to change units that perform as designed for the majority of users. Swoopers can use a speed version or turn it off. Wingsuiters can buy a WS cypress or even use student mode and avoid large turns under canopy. (not recommended but possible) Choose the correct tool for the job As a dedicated WS pilot, I wonder, has anyone heard of an AAD firing under ("normal") wingsuit flight?
  13. You just write it down. This isn't some legally binding contract or being done for USPA. To me personally, if an opening is hard enough to hospitalize or kill a jumper, or damage the gear or eject a jumper from a harness it should go on the list. But that would be up to whoever wants to submit each item. The point is that other skydivers could look and make their own decisions. I think packing techniques should definitely be included. Having a record of what's happening is critical to safety in skydiving. My first rig was a used Sabre1 with a couple/few hundred jumps on it. I put a couple hundred more AND started wingsuit flying on it(but not too long!) before buying a custom Storm. That being said the manual states NOT to tuck the nose BUT that is exactly the advice that I was given, and it worked. In fact the one real fast opening I remember on the Sabre was when I laid the cocoon down and realized I'd forgotten to tuck the nose. I said fuck it and continued the pack job. Yup, didn't do that again! On the same Sabre1 topic, I recently spoke to a very seasoned rigger in reference to and he said that it's not the canopy which is the problem, its the lines are out of trim, which makes PERFECT sense... Mr Brian Germain will tell you that you can Re-trim lines by stretching them back, but I imagine only for slight out of trim... I'm no rigger BUT Mr Germain does know a thing or two about parachutes. You can also roll the nose and some other tricks to slow the openings as we know... Ask a Rigger!
  14. This helped me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhEHdKemr1M She's fun to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bVyAfDEAeU This guy is pretty ok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya03HjlL3YE Practice...
  15. One size does not fit all. Everyone would agree that you need to learn the basics on a smallish suit. But when deciding what's next it really depends on what you plan on doing... I did over a handful of coached jumps after my FFC and bought a new Funk. In retrospect I should have bought something different, NOT that I had any problems flying or controlling the suit but IMO the suit kinda sucks in general. I still fly the fuck out of it and I've learned to like it. Bear in mind I do ALOT of solo flying due to the nature of my DZ... Last year I decided to make a slightly larger "up grade" into a performance suit(C-Race) and I LOVE it. Much has been done in the way of R&D from the big Three and the sport will continue to evolve. So my take away is, what do you want out of the suit???
  16. He has been asked for his resignation. Can't come fast enough.
  17. http://www.performancedesigns.com/video-horizon/ I too have High Expectations
  18. Are people still clinging to this nonsense? What happened in 2012? The bad guys got themselves a big win. Nothing that "progressive liberals" or anyone else did or did not do influenced that. Millions of dollars were wasted on "investigations" that were blown hack jobs which failed to show anything substantial. You could make an argument that substantial cuts by the GOP to the State Dept's budget for security of diplomatic missions might have contributed, but that's doubtful too. What did we learn that day? Sometimes, the bad guys get the upper hand. See also 9/11/01. Did we just become best friends?!?! When you put yourself in harms way expect the worst. Better preparation could have turned this unfortunate event around. But I digress. Can I get an AMEN? ~Nature is my religion and the Earth is my church.
  19. I bought a custom 170 Storm a couple of years ago. I think alot of folks would agree that a two stage flare works nice on these two models.
