2 pointsNobody's jumping right now, right? A suggestion. While stuck on the ground, don't forget about your brothers and sisters who have no work at the moment, and little hope of getting any work in the next few months at least. Might be a great time to send that AAD off for service, have that little cosmetic repair done on your rig/jumpsuit/canopy, go ahead and get that repack done since it's only a month or so out. Your rigger will appreciate the work. Bring a bag of groceries to an instructor or three. Check in on them. Lots of them won't ask for shit - offer it. We are family.

1 pointNo I don't have a better solution. I'm going to count that as 3 votes for temporarily lower standards (yours, mine, and the OP).

1 pointGood article on how to plan a public health response for this long term: https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-the-hammer-and-the-dance-be9337092b56

1 point"Chinese Flu" is race baiting. "Trump pandemic" is political posturing. Like "lock her up". If you can't see the difference I would say it's likely because you have pulled your head into your shell and are refusing to look. As usual.
-
1 pointYep. But I bet the same people will be outraged and offended when the Trump Pandemic is used in a similar way.

1 pointThat's likely to come to an end soon. I would imagine the tandem ride market has mostly dried up at the moment. Same with AFF. Even if the dz is still operating, the likelihood of getting enough work to survive right now could be pretty slim. I'm just saying please take care of each other. If we're gonna call skydivers family, we need to treat them that way when SHTF.

1 pointWrong thread. Please ;leave the race baiting for the race baiting thread.

1 pointO.K., and here I am with a non-functioning brain and a terminal case of liberalitis. So, tell me wizard of the conservative agenda, how are you spending your day's in Corona Virus land? You won't be tossing drogues at someone else's DZ for a while, that's a certainty, and I doubt you have the moxie to put it all together and make a real DZ on your own. Me, well I'm at anchor off of Sint Maarten trying to decide whether Antigua or the USVI's are next up. All paid for with earnings made while believing in and living by liberal values. Funny how that works.

1 pointNot the only thing you should have dumped long ago except that you value reason, logic, archeological evidence, geologic evidence and on and on and on less than you value faith. "I had to maintain faith." You didn't have to, Ron, that's a cop out that gives you a pass for bad decision making. I actually find it unsettling that you have a counseling credential but are so utterly ignorant about human nature. Your own, especially.

1 pointMy wife was in tears on the phone. She's tough as nails when it comes to medicine. She was the charge nurse in a local ER for 9 years. She is the director of health services at a facility which is comprised of an assisted living/memory care which includes 70+ elderly folks, a 32 bed ICFDD, a day workshop with almost 100 clients, all DD adults, and 2 group homes with 4 DD individuals each. To enter these facilities you must be screened for symptoms. By their very nature DD folks can have compromised immune systems. Obviously the elderly folks are at great risk. Today she learned that one of the individuals in the group homes may possibly be infected. Not certain yet but the symptoms are starting. Fortunately this person doesn't attend the day rehab program. Living in the group home is one of her nurses. This nurse has been at their facility on a daily basis for meetings since this started. The nurse shows no symptoms but is now in lockdown in the group home. My wife is frightened, and she doesn't frighten easily. She's exhausted working 12 hours days and then fielding phone calls at all hours. There are people out there putting themselves at great risk for us. Please keep them in your tots and pears.

1 pointCovid19 I am very happy with how the government both state and federal have been dealing with this. I am delighted by how most people are acting and dealing with this. The general feeling i get is that we are in this together. There is no one to blame and being a dick isn't going to make things any better. i hear some grips but everyone needs to take a breath, the stress will only compromise your immune system. This is a good reminder that we aren't and cant be in control of everything. Some times shit happens and all we can do is our best. i read some of the posts and honestly don't think politics has anything to do with this. Stay safe and help when you can.

1 pointlanguage instructor was explaining to her class that French nouns, unlike their English counterparts, are grammatically designated as masculine or feminine. Things like 'chalk' or 'pencil,' she described, would have a gender association although in English, these words were of neutral gender. Puzzled, one student raised his hand and asked, "What gender is a computer?" The teacher wasn't certain which it was, and so divided the class into two groups and asked them to decide if a computer should be masculine or feminine. One group was composed of the women in the class, and the other of men Both groups were asked to give four reasons for their recommendation. The group of women concluded that computers should be referred to in the masculine gender because: 1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on. 2. They have a lot of data but are still clueless. 3. They are supposed to help you solve your problems, but half the time they ARE the problem. 4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer, you could have had a better model. The men, on the other hand, decided that computers should definitely be referred to in the feminine gender because: 1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic. 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else. 3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval. 4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

1 pointI don't trust the Chinese government any more than I trust Trump to tell the truth. Or any less.

1 pointYou seem to focus on me personally, and the other posters that you disagree with, personally, A LOT. Worry less about the persons and address the topics . . . Or stop posting.
