First of all, if this is not appropriate for this forum, please delete the thread, I will totally understand.

I have a complete admiration for you and your sport, and hope you will understand where I am coming from.
I have been a concept artist in the videogame industry for 10 years, and have a diploma in industrial design. I only did 3 tandem jumps, but have been totally obsessed with skydiving (probably very usual story) since then. Hopefully I will have enough money soon to pay for an aff...
What really pushed me to jump was a video that a friend sent me of a wingsuit pilot almost crossing a valley.
Anyway. As a humble thank you to you, and the amazing inspiration you gave me, here are some digital illustrations I did in my free time.
I would have never shown them to you if my fellow coworkers had not pushed me to do so, posting here feels pretty much like jumping of an airplane to me.
Hope they will entertain you somewhat.
Keep on inspiring us.

David

:)Thanks for the overwhelming replies!!! I am really pumped up now!
And thanks also to TomAiello for finding the video that inspired me (fastest mofo in the valley) few years ago. He also told me a bit more about the pilot jumping, Lukas Knutsson. His memorial video was very moving: what a life...

I will create a printable/wallpaper section this week. Those images are usually painted at a bit more than twice the resolution you saw them, so it won't be a problem to create wallpapers.
I will probably post again once I have a new batch.
thx again,

David

I've seen the fastest mofo video, but where did you get the memorial vid?

Oh yeah, and what everyone else said, nice pics! B|

Headdown.net has it archived. I had to log in to get it. It's in the forums, under the 2002 film festival.

I'm reluctant to post a direct link because I don't want to chew up their bandwidth. I'll see if I can get permission to throw it up on Skydivingmovies.com.

Here is the link to an improvised page, hope it will be ok for the moment. Once I have more illustrations I'll do a proper one.

I limited the bmp backgrounds to 1600 width max as not many people use above (yet), and for faster downloading time. The jpgs are at the "painted resolution" and at low compression level, so they should be enough to print. If not, drop me a line and I'll add also bmp zips at full res.
Thanks also for the kind words, it keeps me going!

MarkM >> the landing gears were an option I thought about, inspired by ski jumpers as they land at quite a steep angle and high speeds. Maybe they'd be ok if you land on a plane carrier moving around proper speed with an inclined landing platform?;)
fenceline >> it's an honor
MB38 >> here ya go, full res!
dploi>> it seems we met halfway!
unclecharlie95 >> good eye, some images were definitely inspired by those jumpers. Especially a shot where a pilot passes by a group of people at the summit of a swiss mountain on the soulflyers video. Mindblowing images.
riggerrob>> might very well happen, weather is getting seriously cold now here (especially after moving from texas to canada) Will probably have to save money and travel... I was advised by the farnham dropzone (the closest to me, where I did my last tandem) to sign up for a november trip in florida and go with them.
leroydb>> good thing I can't build them! Too much responsibility...
kevin922>> here ya go for the high res, proud to be on a pilot's wall!!
Not an engineer ;) but I'll have a look at the site for inspiration!
