Didn't stop you from using Hungary as an example.....until you found out your right wing twitter buzz word didn't make sense.

It is ok to be against something sometimes, racism anyone?

Sure it is. And the Republicans tend to oppose any actual recognition that racism exists and tend to oppose any program that would try and reduce it.

I could have Israel or Pelosi’s compound, but I wanted to keep it simple.

My brother the car guy says the same thing -- the newer the oil, the longer it can last. But that's in a good engine, too.

"Change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles" is, anymore, kind of like "lather, rinse, repeat." A great marketing scheme.

Wendy P.

Useless fact - I now change my oil about once every 20,000 miles.  But that's because my car (a PHEV) only runs its gas engine about 1 mile out of every 20.

I was keeping it simple for myself

I'll agree, but Canada's border control would be great.

Let's time warp, It's where past posts, become today's news and tomorrow's crisis.Time travel is dangerous so let's keep it to a year.

6/16/21 Biden and Putin in a closed door meeting, a four hour read that lasted an hour and a half.

Biden touted Putin's agreement to a "bilateral Strategic Stability Dialogue" intended to "lay the groundwork for future arms control and risk reduction measures," according to a joint statement from Biden and Putin released by the White House.

Considering how America bailed on our allies in the botched AF withdraw,an American led coalition may be unmotivating to those still licking their wounds.

The upshot: Biden with Putins help have nearly doubled US Nat gas exports to Europe.

Sorry.

To be clear, I am NOT saying that 96% of the people here don't like you.  In my example, 1% of the people here don't like you and like Biden.  Of those people, 24 of them out of 25 thinks you are worse for America than Biden.  So that's 24 out of 2500.   Less than 1%.

But if you phrase it with just the right spin it sure sounds bad, dosen't it?

That was my point.  Not that you are worse than Biden, but rather that if you misrepresent the data as in the poll you posted, it SOUNDS really bad.   Sorry if it came across as actually bad.

Bill - my point is simple, personal attacks aren't needed or appreciated by anyone.

I try to make honest posts and enjoy thoughtful replies. When my opinions differ from others that is all it is, a difference in opinion.

Much of your content and knowledge is appreciated. We've had good exchanges on other topics like our solar and energy discussions. Just read your post on nuclear power - spot on, the sooner the better. GA Power is showing us the true cost and timeline.

There's plenty of stuff going on and quality exchanges are learning opportunities.

Bill - that whole thing about changing oil every xx miles or once a year. What was/is the reason for the once a year and is it necessary?

I'm guessing that doesn't come into play for most fuel car owners but it can come into play for boat owners.

he's explaining Canadian politics to 3 Canadians!

Yet, you don't see the irony of all the Canadians on this site not only explaining our politics to us, but offering to shred our constitution.

FWIW I will gladly talk Canadian politics with you if you like. But it is unlikely that you or any other American care to.

I do see it, and sometimes I roll my eyes as I think often SkyDekker oversimplifies and over-demonizes certain things...but he's at least sharing an opinion that he's crafted himself and not just regurgitating what he saw on Fox last night.

No argument. I do appreciate a couple of perspectives on here, but please don't tell them I said that - it only encourages 'em. :)

Only because your politics are your concern.

Exactly, they affect you very little. US policy has a much larger impact on Canada. All your major networks are on any basic cable subscription here for example. I doubt that CBC is carried anywhere in your nation. We can’t get away from it.

True.  I put about 50 hours each year on mine but the oil gets changed before layup every year.  I'm told it's bad to have old oil sitting in your engine for 5 months.

For the record, I have no interest in the US shredding their constitution, it is the interpretation of some of the amendments I don't agree with. I am a huge fan of the third amendment.

You should know that many in the Canadian "freedom convoy" kept talking about their first amendment rights.

Not you, Sky. You bring up points for discussion.

We got stuck on the side of the road for a good hour while the police escorted them through. Not as a matter of legitimacy, but public safety.  It was quite the Billy-Joe-Bob Lemming show.

Serious question; Is there a "First Amendment" in Canada?

Yes there is, it is contained within the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which forms part of the 1982 Constitution Act.

However both the Limitations Clause and the Notwithstanding clause of the "Canadian Constitution" result in the rights not being absolute, like they are in the US constitution.

In short and high level, the Notwithstanding Clause allows provincial or territorial governments/parliaments to create laws that contradict the constitution.

The Limitations Clause results in courts having to apply the Oakes Test if the court finds a right has been infringed.

The periodic changes unrelated to mileage are (I believe) to deal with water ingress.  Water gets into engines even if they are not being used; imperfect seals and valves (like the PCV valve) allow humid air to enter, and once it enters it can condense when temperature changes (i.e. at night.)
