  1. YAY!!! See, I can do more than troll on here! Not that fast! It was your instructors who said that, and even Sangi may have said something productive....once....maybe . To the OP, Im no expert but Im gona take the liberty to suggest something. Get on the floor in the freefall position and do 98324750 heel clicks. Maybe that helps with the legs issue. HISPA #93 DS #419.5
  2. 7 pages of replys, 157 posts. And we got one! So if we keep this thread for annother 7 pages we might get Sangi?
  3. Sangi, Why don't you take a week and go back through all of the posts in the incidents forum and then look for posts by the people that the incidents are about. You'll find more corelation that you'd like to admit. I remember a saying I saw on here (although not exactly so I'll paraphrase)... "When you start skydiving you start out with 2 buckets. One full of luck and the other empty of skill. Every jump you take a little luck out and hopefully move it to the skill bucket. If your luck bucket runs out before your skill bucket is full then you're going to be in a world of hurt" Also remember that you might not kill yourself but you may kill a friend that you're jumping with. Could you live with that?
  4. I agree we need to have fun in our sport. That is why we skydive right. Its fun. Now I havent been in the sport nearly long enough to start throwing valuable advice around, but what I can gather is, when people start going in bad things come out of it. There is a death in the sport, a family looses a son or daugher. People loose a friend(no matter how much it seems like it sometimes but we all have friends), The sport may loose more than just one person. If people happen to witness the incident( Im sure it happens more often than not) they may be driven out of the sport. Lawsuits like mentioned earlier in this forum may come about. Yes we will learn something from the incident, Wether or not it was gear related, we will always learn something from it. Now with that being said, Some times we learn a hard lesson. New restrictions may be put on our sport. Our sport is scrutinized to no end constantly. Take a look at the recent incident in Toronto. Im sure all the wonderfull media attention we are getting from it is bringing in at least 300 new Solo jumpers per DZ across canada. Now this goes straight to you "Sangi". I am a low low low number jumper. I(like many people in the sport) hates being told what to do, how to do it. This Subject hits pretty close to home for me. I didnt come out of it with a Mal, no cut away, but a good lesson none the less. My self and another jumper from my home dz where going for a hope and pop camera flight. At this point i had two camera jumps under my belt. We decided to do an exit that we really shouldnt have and caught it on tape. To make a long story short, after reviewing the video(thinking I am all hot shit had so much fun and was so creative) my DZO/ really good friend took me aside and proceeded to knock me down on notch at a time. Fuck did I hate him at the moment, I felt like an idiot. Looking at this now, It happen last summer, I look at how many cards I had stacked leaning slightly towards the fire. I was lucky, the guy I was jumping with was lucky. The biggest thing I can take out of it is, incidents don't happen from one "big" mistake. Its mostly always a culmination of various little mistakes, And my incident was sure starting to make a list of its own. Dude, I hope I get a chance to jump with you. Its a bloody small world so you never know if it will happen or not. Keep enjoying our sport as it is. Have fun with your life man, but for fuck sakes take some advice with a little more of an open mind. I like the sport the way it is, but i fear if things keep happening that could be avoided incident wise, our sport is going to change in ways we are all not going to like. Im done being all grown up, Im going to go play in active avalanche terrain! D.S 174.2 Be careful what you say. Some one might take it the right way.
  5. Try thinking outside your little box, Sangi. It's not about you. It's about skydiving and the negative results that fatalities have on our sport and the potential alteration of our self-regulatory status. It's about lawsuits and liability. It's about DZs and Mfgrs being able to remain open and make a living. It's not about you. "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
  6. Exactly. You all babble, you should have done this, you shouldn't have done this, I would have done this bla bla bla.. Yeh yeh, you people would have done a perfect save from a mal behind your PC in your warm room, you (nor me, nor anyone else) knows exactly how they're going to react to stressfull situations and even the almighty skygod with 10k jumps can fuck up on some kind of emergency.. So quit all the bullcrap and chill out with your "you're going to die, oh noes, look at your bad cutaway, look at you flying a cam at these jump numbers", I'm so fucking sick of this DZ.com bullshit! Rant out. You gotta love them 100 jump wonders No offense intended buddy, but bookmark this thread and read it again when you have much more jumps. You will wonder who this overconfident Sangi guy is
  7. Cute Sangi, very cute. Yep, that was cute.......and true!
  8. Hey, i'm not saying there isnt any reason not to be upset. Just pointing out the obvious here about the mob. If you read above you will see that although i think the video is hysterical because of the facial expressions I actually sided with Sangi on how many on here want to let this slide. I personally dont care what slides and what doesnt. I just think the incredible double standard is hysterical. You are correct though, if something like this happened to me I would be quite upset. Although it's obvious the person who did it did so on accident, and they were obviously very sorry, it doesnt change the issue that someone that should know better put their hand in a very bad place. I would say the person who pulled the handle has at least a few hundred jumps based on his ability to sitfly only using his legs as he was using his arms to signal. 9. I'm going to have to agree with Sangi on this. Not one person so far, has come down on this guy for pulling this guy's cutaway handle. How do you know that the guy with 3600 hundred jumps "knows what he did wrong"? Why isn't anyone yelling for him to get rid of the camera until he has the where-with-all to focus on mutiple tasks and be safe? There seems to be a double standard by many of you. BTW: I know for a fact that I saw another video from this guy (maybe last year) (maybe youtube) where someone funneled a formation and pulled someone elses PC or reserve as he was funneling through the formation. The canopy just missed the camera. This group of jumpers (or DZ) seems to be grab happy wiith other people's gear.
  10. Sangi, 100 jumps is a little over an hour and a half. Think of it like learning to drive a car. With only that much time, you can get from point a to point b, but you still are probably thinking about shifting, watching for traffic, using your turn signals and a whole host of other things. LOTS of things to think about at the same time. Add another 1.5 hours of drive time and those things have become a little more second nature and you are not having to think about them as much. You notice more things around you because the mechanics of what you are doing are not what you are concentrating on because they are muscle memory. You anticipate problems because you have the experience to see them before they are in your face. That only comes with time. Lets change this to skydiving. But now you are getting this experience in 1 minute blocks weeks apart. Still the same issues of lots of things to focus on and muscle memory needing to be developed. Big difference is if you get overwhelmed in a car, you pull over. Can't do that in a skydive. Adding the camera adds more shit you have to think about and having that built up muscle memory allows one to focus at the task at hand. These responses are provided in the hope of helping a noob become an old fart instead of a statistic. Might seem harsh, but when after many people saying slow it down and the OP still saying "but, but, but, I'll be OK, I'm special", it just shows that showering people with rainbows and unicorns doesn't always work and a swift internet slap up side the head *might* get through. Hmmmm, anyone listening? 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  11. There's another thread where typical DZ.comers bash a 100 jump guy with a GoPro who ditched his helmet before cutaway, yet he is all ok and well and nobody else was hurt as well.. This can be an exactly same analogy, because next time this guy can pull his friends RESERVE handle on exit instead of a cutaway, now that would make for a "fun" video wouldn't it? As I pointed out in another thread, it's all about jump numbers here, if you're below 200, you're gonna be bashed no matter what you do, above that and you're in the cool zone.. Sangi, I do get where you are going with this, ad I am not in complete disagreement. However... The difference? The guy with 3600 jumps knows what he did wrong. Doesn't mean that he didn't screw up, or can't screw up. I bet he'll be more careful now after possibly getting a little complacent about harness grips on exit. The GoPro / Helmet cutaway thread is a perfect example though of not knowing what you don't know. It has to do with experience. It has to do with a demonstrated attitude. I'll leave discussion of that event over there though. There are people with over 1000 jumps that I am scared to be in the air with, both freefall and under canopy. there are some very wise and cool-headed 50 jump people that I love to fly with. The reason people get so uptight here is not wanting to see others make the same mistakes they did and happened to get away with. The tone is often harsh, as are the consequences.
  12. Are you implying that the shiny stuff are less functional? Are you implying that he is implying? Sangi, what did you say in the other thread about Dolphins? Read more, type less.
  13. Hi Sangi, Some advice if I may: Try to really think before you type. Your reputation is at stake; and that is the truth. JerryBaumchen
  14. Too much velcro that wears out? Not really practical, when you have to replace it constantly (longetivity wise)... Why would you want a mega velcro rig when you can get a normal one and use it in any discipline without any fear.. .................................................................... The trouble with "normal" is that it changes faster than Sangi can keep track of "normal." Hah! Hah! The first few Dolphins were built with snaps holding main riser covers closed. The second batch of Dolphins were built with Velcro. The third batch of Dolphins were built with small tuck tabs. But all those definitions of "normal" fell out of fashion when UPT invented main riser covers with magnets. By the time that Dolphin updates their riser covers - to include magnets - the definition of "normal" will have changed again. Hah! Hah!
  15. what did you expect from Sangi ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  16. The Parachutes de France rigs are designed for that. Now my question for Sangi would be : Why an Axis ? Do you do lots of "Style and Accuracy" ? www.aerazur.com/en/parachute-and-protection/harness-container.html then switch to the right on Atom A (for Axis) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  17. sorry. i meant the OP. yeah, not talking crap about Sangi! he seams to be the kind of person that says he wants to do all this but he will probably never even do a tandem, i have met a few like himself. not talking shit, just making an observation oh dude DUde DUDE BRO DUDE. omg DUDE! ummmmm. i forgot.... Dudeist Skydiver #61
  18. Sangi I think this is the very first time I have ever agreed with one of your posts "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
  19. You need to look to find your handles? In standard conditions, I can find them easily without looking. Each and every time I had to use one, the other or both handles I did look as I was trained. Sangi, did you ever wonder why in a plane cockpit the handles and levers have different shapes, textures and color ? edited to add : on my rig I have black webbing, and had ordered red cutaway pillow and red reserve pillow. I thought it was cool and that I knew my right from my left. Got talked out of it and slightly modified the cutaway pillow which now has 2 yellow stripes on it, which changes the feeling and the visual. And no, I dont have red, yellow or black suits (yet) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  20. I don't think Sangi is being disrespectful of his decision. He would just rather hear the reasoning from the person in question. You may know him well enough to speak for him but I am more curious what his reasons are than what yours would be. If this subject hits a sore spot for you then I hope you get it worked out. Merry Christmas
  21. but he comes from your side of the pond sangi :P IHYD
  22. Sangi, you've made your point. The top pilots are sponsored. They are not free to change their canopies unless they want to give up their sponsorship or seek out a new one. For this reason competition results are not necessarily a useful metric for judging the best canopy design. So which is the better design? The JVX or the Velocity? First of all, you are not going to get an unbiased answer from a sponsored pilot (at least not on the record). Also, brand loyalty is like religion. It is very hard to engage people in logical discussions about it. I have flown (and competed) under both and I am not sponsored. I currently choose to fly the JVX because I still believe that a 9-cell has more performance potential than a 7-cell. But my opinion could change. I have not flown the competition Velocity yet.
