I would also be interested to know how the two components communicate. As for the question of reliability of that link though, it appears to be fail-safe: If you do NOT hear the "melodic tone" from the audible piece, then it is NOT safe to swoop. It might mean the device didn't switch modes, or it might mean that the audible link failed. But the only real consequence is a "wasted" opportunity to swoop. BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

Cool, it is interesting to see all the different wingsuit designs at once like that. Makes it easy to see the similarities and differences between the manufacturers. Thanks for taking the time to compile this. BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

Line twist simulator - info request
platypii replied to unclecharlie95's topic in Safety and Training
Pressurized FJC uses a simulator for line twists. It's shown in the beginning of this video, but doesn't really show the rigging: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99SV0uZ94H4 The way I've practiced/experimented with line twists is to do a high pull, and then intentionally spinning myself into line twists (like a blindman). Then I practice steering above the twists, and the best techniques for untwisting. BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer -
Same. Demoed the phantom, TERRIBLE fogging problems. Couldn't get the visor up under canopy due to gloves (and demo so minimal experience with the mechanism). Had to lift helmet precariously on top of my head to land. Will NOT jump a phantom again! BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

What is a good wind meter that doesn't cost too much?
platypii replied to 3mpire's topic in Gear and Rigging
I just got this cell-phone wind meter: http://www.amazon.com/WeatherFlow-Wind-Meter/dp/B00E9AF7ZU Seems to be pretty accurate when compared with the DZ's readings. Definitely the smallest anemometer out there. BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer -
I have the regular Storm with Casual CRW Kit. It has dacron lines, continuous center A lines, and three ring retractable bridle system on the top, but no tailpocket. I was confused about what was the point of a 3 ring retractable bridle without a tailpocket. I asked PD and they said: Anyone have experience with that setup? Simon, would love to hear if you have any success installing a tailpocket. BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

Looks like they had a fairly narrow flight corridor over the hudson river. Nice use of the barge. Very cool video! http://skyvector.com/?ll=40.70617262628494,-74.02645809055565&chart=119&zoom=3 BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

Life is too short for drama. I would hate to reread some of these comments after the names appear on BFL. I would much rather celebrate the time we have together than snipe back and forth on the internet... BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

Just to contribute my 2cents, I've also experienced pain with PF customer service. Ordered a tracksuit directly from PF. No confirmation email from them. 1 month later I emailed PF to ask if they got my order, next day Edo confirmed my order. 2.5 months after ordering, got an email from what was apparently a dealer of theirs asking me to send paypal to a random hotmail address for the suit. Suspicious. Had to email PF to confirm that this is actually their dealer, which they eventually confirmed 4 days later. Then there was an issue with suit color. At that point I worked with the dealer directly and got it resolved. The suit is great now, and the dealer was fantastic to work with. I wish I had called the dealer directly from the beginning. In the end I am satisfied, but overall the customer service experience was painful from lack of responsiveness, and generally convoluted purchasing process. Why isn't selling things on the internet for money a solved problem at this point? BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer

There was a semi-official club. USC didn't like the idea of skydiving though, so we created "USC Indoor Skydiving," with trips to iFly officially. Unofficially, there was a group of us who went out to Elsinore regularly. I got my license thanks to them. Good times! I think all the active members have graduated in the last year or two, but I'll PM you with some names to talk to. It would be rad if you keep it going! BASEline - Wingsuit Flight Computer
