  1. I visited Saulgau a couple of weeks ago. The Dropzone Director, Paul, wanted me to do some refresher training. I have not jumped in 8 years. I much prefer someone with a desire to keep things safe, so I appreciated that. I return this Saturday to do the refresher and get some jumps in. Very nice little DZ with a relaxed vibe. Thanks for the help!
  2. Thanks, Seth! You make it sound so easy. You must have some wonderful skills.
  3. I will not go overboard and describe this as a service to the community, but I would be grateful for such an effort. :)
  4. Part of my conundrum is finding where everything is closest together. Oddly, the water temperature and weather are not always related. The currents off the Carolinas make the water warm in late fall. And there are mountains nearby. Go figure. But I have no problem following the seasons. I tend to run hot and cold on hobbies. I will get into one heavy for a while and then take a break. So far, retirement looks like a base camp to store stuff and retreat to for a breather; a truck with my hang glider, skydive rig, SCUBA gear, motorcycle, and some camping stuff for emergencies (maybe a kayak); and proximity to an airport so I can go spend two or three months rolling around in another culture when it is too cold in the US and the base camp becomes confining. It is not a complex plan. lol
  5. As I try to figure out true retirement (all play - no work), I am trying to locate someplace to live / have a base. I want to be close to a DZ, major airport, SCUBA, hang gliding, etc. It seems I need Google Earth layers to show me where the stuff I want is located so I can figure out where I want to live. Anyone know of a layer or database showing where DZs are in the US? Or a significant effort to create one? The function we have here does not appear to translate to a map well. If I could get access to the underlying database, I might could create a layer. Not sure. Appreciate any help. David
  6. I can find places on google, but they show as 'closed' on weekends...??? Anyone know a good dropzone in the area? I need an altitude adjustment badly. Thanks for any assistance! David
  7. Dove the U-352 German submarine off the coast of NC this past weekend. Then went to the Aeolus wreck and swam inside the ship along with some Sand Tiger Sharks that have taken residence. David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  8. On my fourth Jeep Wrangler. Went back to an old YJ. So nice to run around naked in public again. David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  9. Ooooh, let me guess! That's the new and improved davjohns rack? Impressive! LOL. Of course. The only boobs I have access to. 10. Side boob. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  11. Thanks, Phil. I think the separation in them is actually better now. I wasn't on my game for that competition. I was taking advice from a trainer who was all about mass. I am going more for proportion. I changed up my diet and was able to cut a couple of percentage points on the bodyfat. 12. People have a hard time keeping up with me. I am constantly adjusting my position in an attempt to slow down. lol David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 13. Thanks for the compliments. Andrea: I got a divorce last year. She told me she settled for me. I didn't want to stand in the way of her doing better. Billy: I returned to Huntsville last May. I retire 28 February. The Army sent me here to finish up. Let me know if you are ever in town. I have four spare bedrooms. Thanks again everyone. A buddy got video of my posing routine. When he gets it to me, I'll slap it on youtube and post a link. David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 14. I got into bodybuilding roughly thirty years ago. I've always wanted to compete. Last year, I decided it wasn't going to get any easier to get on a stage with very little clothing and ask a crowd of strangers to critique my body. Yesterday was the Rocket City Classic Bodybuilding competition in Huntsville, AL. I entered the Classic Physique category. Rather than the steroid gulping mass monsters of today, Classic Physique looks for an aesthetic ideal more like Frank Zane, Bob Paris, Steve Reeves and other classics. To that end, there are weight limits based on height. I was not allowed to be any heavier than 200lbs at my height of 5'10". Just thought I would share. Perhaps someone else will see this and go for something they've put off a long time. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 15. Well, this certainly gives me a new idea for this winter's SCUBA trip. Thanks! David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
